The Robin OYL Thread

I really don't think the writing was very good after the first issue in this arc. I found plenty of plot holes in the second issue and it just got worse from there. Maybe the should bring Geoff Johns in to resusitate this book and Nightwing.

Id rather not.

Well, hopefully lots of other people will have found Beechen's work to be crappy enough to drop the comic. Low sales on a long-running book with a popular character is a surefire way to get a creative team switch.

yeah, his workload is pretty heavy right now, but i honestly wouldn't mind if he stopped writing green lantern so he could pick one of these books up. i've never been a big GL fan and from what i hear, that's his weakest book anyway.

His GL has sucked pretty consistently with only a couple of good hiccups.

The Green Lantern title has been consistently outshone by Green Lantern Corps.

Yeah, thats why, id hate for him to turn Robin into that type of book even though it be an improvement.

Yeah, I think it'd turn out pretty good.

Well, on the plus side for Johns, when he turns former good guys bad, he usually does it extremely well. Witness the falls of Hunter Zolomon and Atom Smasher.

you know who i'd like to see on robin, or nightwing for that matter, ed brubaker. the guy knows how to write an intriguing story, just look at his work on books like gotham central, daredevil and sleeper. i'd like to see a really well told, intricate and slightly gritty robin story. i think brubaker should be the guy to write that story.

It's unfortunate that he's now exclusive to Marvel. I'd love to see Greg Rucka on Robin, myself. He co-wrote Gotham Central and he's currently writing Checkmate, plus he's a veteran of the Batman titles from back in the No Man's Land days. He also kicked ass on Wonder Woman and Adventures of Superman. If anyone can get the perfect combination of superheroics and noirish crime drama that Robin needs, it'd be Rucka.

geoff's run on GL has been unusual. he has had good issues here and there. but i can tell he's gonna make a come back on this book especially the OYL arc. I think as this arc progresses the book will get better and better. the pre-OYl seem like fillers. overall i enjoyed almost all his ussues.

yeah, rucka would be amazing on robin. ideally, i'd like to see brubaker and rucka handle robin and nightwing. it doesn't matter who's on which book, they'd both work on either title.

I don't think there have been any good issues yet, and it doesn't look like OYL is going to be any better at all.

 GLC was excellent :)

and i thought that this Robin issue, was the worst of the current arc, but it was still the best of this week.

its not his fault that hal jordan blows

batman issue was the best:up:

The Batman issue was the worst for me. I have yet to see years of mutual hatred disappear in a couple of hours like Johns forced them to in that issue. Batman's "I'll take my chances with them" after destroying Brother Eye should've been the beginning and end of their reconciliation for the time being.

Yes, that was a much more dramatic moment. It is more emotionally pleasing for Bruce and Hal to forge a grudging friendship whilst saving the universe than it is for them to become pals whilst beating up Tattooed Man.

Its his fault that the book blows. Hal Jordan is a terrible character, sure, but Johns is the reason he's back. So if he brought him back and he's still the exact same bland person he's always been.... just what the hell was the point? The Corps could have been restarted well without him. The fact that GLC routinely blows GL away really proves that point.

Just read # 150 and # 151. Pretty cool to read both back to back...but, man, I hate that my comic shop keeps selling out of certain issues.

I like what's going on. It seems other people are pissed about the turn of Batgirl. I didn't read Batgirl and was never interested in her...so I honestly don't give a crap, heh. She made a pretty good bad guy, if you ask me.

I really liked the artwork when this new arc started, but it's almost like the art has gotten worse since it's gone on, makes it kind of tough sometimes when I'm getting into the story.

Though everything with the new Captain Boomerang and Robin is a really nice touch. And I have NO IDEA where Beechen is going with some of this stuff. With the new superhero kid and the girl who is tutoring Tim...those were just things that came out of NOWHERE.

Obviously, we're going to explore this further but right now it just seemed kind of...out of left field.

But I'm kind of pumped with the whole Captain Boomerang and Robin confrontation now, it's definitely enough to keep me coming back for more.

Killa Nilla beats everyone's supporting cast combined.

I'm a little hurt by the recent protrayal of cassandra. I became a reader of DC through her comics. Her recent turn to villiany seems unwarranted, I haven't read the recent robin books so I can't say for sure how it was handled but just from the news alone I dislike the change.
