This is probably one of my favorite superhero movies and I was wondering what people thought of it.

Does anyone else think they could pull off a pretty sweet reboot? Maybe if they take it out of Disney's hands and go all out?

I have to admit, when I heard the creator Dave Stevens had died, I thought that maybe a new Rocketeer film might happen.(Not that he was stopping them)

I absolutely love that film. The fair rescue still holds up to this day. But it would be cool to see it with special effects. If the Green Hornet does well, maybe that will signal more pulp style heroes to come?

I wouldn't mind a divergence from comic book movies to pulp movies the same way we got a divergence into non-superhero movies.

Ine of my fav flims ever and i seems it had just been ripped off in a game called dark void (or atleast extreamly borrowed from) 1930 guy in a rocket pack anyone

Said this months ago. Pick up with the Rocketeer a year or so after the last movie; he could be working for the government as part of the war effort. And Josh Hartnett should play Cliff.

Liked the first Rocketeer. It was kinda cheesy but it still worked.

Actually Josh does kinda have that look, but no one will ever top Billy.

He had that look down.

Reboot....or sequel?

I think a sequel could be made. Kinda a sequel that is like a reboot (think TIH). He's been the Rocketeer for some time now and he's working with the government. I never read the comics (can't get my hands on them) so I don't know if there's anything to use there.

i agree. if they did somethin like they did with TIH then it could do good. i'm all for a rocketeer movie. is it on dvd?

oh thats a bummer. i was all excited hoping that it was a special edition.

Agreed. In addition to being able to act, Harnett is the only actor who even looks remotely like him:

the movie was a lot of fun. it felt like the old serials they used to play in the theaters. I get the same feeling from the first three indy films.
As much as I would like to see a sequel, its a bit late, and a reboot would in my mind just taint the first one.
Its a good time, and i'm glad its a part of my library.

Wow it really didn't register till I saw that pic. He'd fit the part perfectly. My only concern is he looks a little on the young side.

It's not like the comics were very gory or anything in the first place. Dave Stephen's got pretty pin-uppy with his women but other than that there was not much there to bowdlerize.

They're mostly like the movie, they were only like 6 or 7 installments/issues. There's not much time spanned or changes, it's just a series of adventures, they're super pulpy Doc Savage stuff.

But yeah, I wish that had become the franchise Disney wanted (and it REALLY wanted it, there's still **** stuffed around Disneyworld for it). It was my absolute favorite movie as a kid and I still love watching it. Also, I'll say, the best comic to screen job on a costume. The character in general is in my opinion of of the best in comics, and it was dead accurate.

That whole late 80s into the 90s pulp things was awesome, I wish it had taken more of a hold. Rocketeer, Dick Tracy, The Shadow, The Phantom, the 89 Batman and the Mask of Zorro to some extent.
