RT has a great track record with X-Men films. It warned about not getting too excited for XMO:W & X3 while justifiably building the hype for all the others. And for me there is a good correlation in general with quality (although not necessarily my own enjoyment of a film) despite some outliers every so often. Reading well written reviews (positive or negative) from those whose reviews I've liked in the past is a part of the experience of watching hyped films for me and along with talking about it with fans on the Hype years in advance and watching trailers, premieres and seeing news as soon as it comes out, has added to the experience every time since I started in about 2000. For me the 1st time I see an X-film is also not the be all and end all. If I'm inappropriately disappointed or overjoyed because of incorrect expectations (which hasn't happened yet in this franchise), it wouldn't be the end of the world...they'll adjust right back for all the subsequent viewings in cinema and at home for the rest of my viewing life.Im an active participant in every single thread where there is good discussion in this forum. So yes I do care about X-Men and everyone here. Ive never posted a review from some website or magazine on here, nor do I care about the actual reviews on RT lol.
and given the fact that I already have seen the film, reviews and scores have not influenced my opinion one way or another, so I can participate in this thread as much as I want. RT isn't making me care anymore than I already have for the past 14 years lol.
Just trying to let people know about overblown expectations and to not rely on reviews. Many of you might end up hating the film for one reason or another, and/or I don't want anyone to be disappointed because its not a "94%" movie to them.. Like I said, folks(not particularly here but other places too) just take too much stock in RT and reviews in general!
A lot of us also know not to put too much stock into it especially after we've seen it. Before though it has proven to be a good indicator (is there a better indicator before a film comes out?) and should be being an aggregate of 200+ views rather than an individual opinion. In this case it might not be that useful as I may have seen it before most of the reviews are out. The relevance it has to me after I've seen it is just for any impact it might have on box office (which will affect sequel chances) as something in the high 80s + with top critics on board means most of the GA will have read something good about it if they do intend to read a review. Maybe the other sites you go to are filled with guys who are totally obsessed with the average and will let it impact their own view massively but I don't think it's treated much differently than it should here by most.
