The Rush Limbaugh Thread

Censorship would be them stopping him from speaking. They're not. They're refusing to sell him a product. In this case a seat at the table.

He's been "Black-balled" because of his catalog of racial comments, but no one is "censoring" the guy. He can say all he want's, it just comes back to bite you in the rear.

No one in the NFL is censoring his show. It's still on, he still gets paid. If a company does not want to sell to a person or another company, they have the ability to do so.

Spend just 5 minutes researching. The guy is just short of a David Duke type.

Well, I pretty much despise everything David Duke stands for, and I've been listening to Limbaugh since the Clinton years... I ain't hearin' it??? Might I suggest that YOU actually LISTEN, instead of doing the typical liberal thing and just buying whatever somebody ELSE tells you!!!

Like Barack the Magic Negro? Or the McNabb comments? Or his "jokes" about the slave trade? I have little respect for anyone who tries to defend this guy. Fortunately, Rush spurts of some stupid comments that usually shames those people for speaking up for him within a couple days.

Can't say as I've ever heard anything about "jokes about the slave trade" (however, might I point out that even YOU say they were JOKES!!!!)

However, you, like most other liberal blowhards, seem to rely on what your friends (also liberal blowhards) tell you, instead of actually finding out from yourself.

1). Barack the Magic Negro was a song Parody based on an editorial printed in the Los Angeles Times, a liberal-leaning paper, written by a liberal columnist. It was this liberal columnist who coined the term "Magic Negro", not Rush...

2). Rush never SAID anything about Donavan McNabb! I WATCHED that show, and heard his comments when he MADE THEM (unlike your liberal buddies, whom, once again, rely on second-hand information) His comment was (I can't quote it EXACTLY, so I'll paraphrase it, but I believe I'm almost, if not completely, spot on...) "The media is so desirous of a black quarterback suceeding that they won't say anything bad about the guy"... It was a comment on the MEDIA... not Donavan McNabb!!! And just to set the record straight, this was the season after McNabb was coming off a big injury. Boy, was I surprised a week or two later when, turning on the game at 1:00 (I guess the Giants were on at 4:00) and was informed by Dan Dierdorf (whom, to my knowledge, was NEVER accused of being a racist) that it was week 4 of the season and Donavan McNabb hadn't thrown a TD yet!!! Compare that to the situation going on in New York, where, much like McNabb, Chad Pennington was coming off an injury... he wasn't throwing TD's either, and you sure heard about it in the papers and on the radio!!!! Seems to me that Mr. Limbaugh may have been right!

Oh, unfortunately I have plenty of years of having to listen to Rush. Too bad about your hearing though, bud. :cwink:

But again, it shouldn't matter if he is the most racist son of a ***** on Earth. If he wants to buy a business, he ought to be able to. This form of censorship disturbs me.

I disagree. First football has a code of conduct which restricts players and owners with penalties that go beyond the law. That's part of the buisness. You want to be in this paticular league you adhere to the league rules. Breaking the league rules can have you barred from the game for life. If not you have every right to pull a XFL and just make your own team. But if you want to play NFL teams you follow the rules of the NFL.

Secondly you have the right to refuse a sale or buisness to whomever you want. Someone wants to eat at your diner but you don't like them, you can refuse. You don't like your boss you get to quit, walk the **** out the door. Now maybe all these players would lose millions breaking their contract but that's their right too.

I'd say rush is somewhat racist. Not as bad as some make him out to be but it's certianly there. I used to listen to that show everyday (I like to hear different views) and I've definately heard him pander to "white" fears quite often.

So, you're saying the black players should be forced to work for a racist and they have no say in the matter?

Perhaps he's saying that said black players should actually get their facts straight before rendering a decision... seems to me that you libs have a LOT of trouble finding out the truth... just believe anything anyone tells you...

OH MY GOD!!! THE SKY IS GREEN!!! (made you look!) ha-ha-ha!

Mcnabb puts up good numbers so Rush is WRONG!

The point being, that at the time that Rush made his comments about the MEDIA (not McNabb, which is what all you liberals/uninformed types tend to lean toward) he WASN'T putting up good numbers... he didn't throw a TD until week 4 of the season that year!!! he should be sending Limbaugh fruit baskets every year, because his mistaken interpretation of those comments sure seemed to wake him up!!!

Please both sides swallow blanket statements whole without even the thought of chewing.

I think the question is more 'What HASN'T he said that is racist, derogatory, of full of hate?'

Oh wait... I forgot... you liberals think EVERYONE who is a conservative is racist... people who actually had the NERVE to stand up and ask a question of their representitive during a town hall meeting did so because they were racist... when are you guys gonna get a new playbook??? I never hear any ACTUAL quotes of how racist Rush is, just more thinly veiled accusations, simply because you disaggree with the man politically. No facts, no logic, so immediately resort to name-calling.

Man... maybe Winston Churchill was right when he said "You can't be under 30, be a conservative and have a heart and you can't be over 30, be a liberal and have a brain!"

Why?

Any business has the right to decline the patronage or business of another party. He wants to buy the team, the owners don't want to sell or the field doesn't.

Oh well. Unless you can prove they are infringing on his civil rights, this is not censorship. The government has nothing to do with this. It is just one party refusing to do business with another party, because the other party is a moron. Plain and simple

Don't bother, DA. Matt is convinced he is right, therefore he is right

How? Mcnabb had lead Eagles to 2 NFC title games.

He wasn't discussing McNabb's performance overall (in fact, he wasn't even discussing McNabb) but was talking about his performance early on during THAT season... once again, coming off an injury and not throwing a TD during the first 3 weeks... easy to ask the question if the injury may have effected his playing style... yet no one in the media was asking those questions... which was what Rush was talking about, not McNabb!!!

There already was a black QB succeeding at the time. I think his name was McNair

Actually he never said that, that quote has been misattributed for years to many people. Here's the actual quote from some french guy:

"Not to be a republican at 20 is proof of want of heart; to be one at 30 is proof of want of head"

Welcome to Politico, looks like you should follow the red line on the floor... :oldrazz:

It would be the same principle as selling a NFL franchise to an ownership group that included someone like Larry Flint. And Marge Schott was ran out of baseball for making the same kinds of racist comments that Limbaugh has used to get filthy rich.

Purchasing a football team is not a first amendment issue

I'm only familiar with the NBA so maybe its different in the NFL... I know in the NBA, the commish and league office really has a fair amount of control and influence into sales and such.

It's more like, buying a division (team) of a bigger company (the league).
In the NBA, everyone else (the other owners) have to approve the sale I believe.

Personally, just sell it to him, and let the team deal with the consequences of black players avoiding the team or demanding to be traded or whatnot.

I would strongly encourage you to rethink your tone. If you are going to come into the Political forums, be civil and respectful.

You want civility Marx!? Instead how about you have a nice steaming glass of shut the hell up! :cmad: :cwink:
