I'm surprised there isn't already a thread for this show. I mean it features probably the most popular Doctor Who companion ever in a spin-off. It may be made for kiddies, but it feels so much like Old School Who and is the better spin-off, IMO, between it and Torchwood (which I also like and follow before it's fans attack me)

Discuss.

I've watched it a few times...and I think it can be a little scary for the kiddies... IMO.
The one with the Gorgon especially...

Hmm. I see. I kinda agree with that.

I enjoy the series alot more than I would have suspected. It's better stories were Invasion of the Bane (minus the annoying girl that Clyde replaced), Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane, and The Lost Boy.

Now that the Brigadier is confirmed to appear in series 2, I hope they attempt to get back Harry Sullivan for series 3. (if there is one.)

I also hear that

The Rani might be in series 2.

I've never watched the show, but with the Sontarons making an appearance, I might have to check it out. When does the second season premiere?

It's not been announced yet.

I do hope they don't try to change much about The Sontarans like they did with the Slitheen in series 1, but some could argue what they changed about the Slitheen made them better.

I just got season one....hope to watch it over the weekend.

I watched the first couple of episodes and thought it was unbearably terrible. I'll give it another go if it's really that good, though.

It's one of those, gets better as it goes along shows. The later stories are really better handled. Especially the final two stories Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? and The Lost Boy.

I like that the cast has seemingly stabilized with decent characters. One of my main problems with the first episode I saw was that super-annoying black girl. The three kids they seem to have settled on after that premiere episode are much better.

Spoilers for season 2

Maria leaves in the first episode. Rumours are that her mother wanted more money and that the actress has exams this year.

Her replacement is called Rani. They wouldn't would they?

Look for the first season to be released on region 2 DVD on the 10th of November.

harry cannot appear. The actor died years ago. However if you look there is a picture of him hanging around Sarah's attic

I really tried to get into it...but it just didn't grab me. I guess I just don't like "kids solving mysteries" type of things...I don't like kids in the spotlight. :P

Me, either. Most of them are probably bastards and their parents don't even love them, you know.

Not me, I noticed Dr Who season sets are more then 50.oo something at stores :csad:

I do kinda dislike Maria (she's a *****.) and Clyde (he's your stereotypical dumbo jockish type), but Luke is pretty cool. If they could knock it down to Sarah Jane and just Luke, the show would be sooo much better.

I got them somewhere else......:oldrazz:

Dr. Who sets can be as much as a hundred bucks in some stores in my area. I think my roomie actually paid like 96 something bucks for series 2. It's crazy.

This show sucks and is IMO a woman Dr. Who. Stick to Dr. Who.

Uhhh...it's suppose to kinda be that way, Sarah Jane as a character has viturally become The Doctor since her travels with him. Just because it's a woman Doctor Who makes it suck? Sarah Jane is a great character and has deserved her own show for a long time now.

See, I don't like the fact that Sarah Jane is so much like the Doctor. She has Mister Smith, which is like the Doctor's brain, basically, and her own sonic screwdriver and everything. It kind of diminishes the Doctor to have some random Earth woman running around with technology and cleverness to rival his own. That's actually what I like about Torchwood: they're completely lost half the time. They're nowhere near as good as the Doctor at stopping aliens, and they often have to resort to easier but far more brutal means of dealing with just about everything.

Its so much better value for americans though. The special making of documentaries for each episode on disc 6 are cut down from the 45 minute confidential that goes out in the UK after each episode is aired. Americans will never have seen those before without a torrent. Us brits pay for commentaries, deleted scenes, outtakes and video diaries which you also get. On season 2 and the upcoming season 4 you get an extra 10 minute episode segment made for charity never aired in the US.

I bought it for £25 on one of those 24 hour Tesco deals they do every now and then :smug:
