Believe whatever you want to, Human Torch.
It could all be a moot point if Gwen doesn't die in this film anyway. At least that's what I'm expecting/hoping.
Don't get your hopes up.
No. It wouldn't be a huge setback if Peter met MJ after Gwen's death.
Weren't you defending Spider-Man 3 in the Raimi forums?
And just because she is signed on for three films doesn't mean she will actually appear in three films.
Then, why would it be worse to have MJ introduced in the same film Gwen dies?Don't get me wrong,it wouldn't be my first choice either, but it's a lesser evil than waiting til after Gwen dies.
Don't worry, between the first film and the way most of the villains are presented in this film,my expectations are tempered.
I still don't think she'll die,for the simple reason that Stone is signed for three films. The only reason to sign her for a third when they expected to kill her in the 2nd,is to bring her back in lengthy flashbacks.
Which as I think I mentioned once or twice, would be pretty sloppy.![]()
If Gwen dies in TASM2 before MJ's introduction, then they probably think that having MJ around would lessen the reactions to Gwen's untimely death or would prevent people from becoming emotionally invested in the Gwen/Peter relationship because they are aware of the fact that Peter and MJ were an item in the Raimi films.
I personally think it would ultimately depend on how the character is presented. If Peter was shown dating MJ in the same film that Gwen dies, then yes, that could be a problem. However, if she was just a friend to Peter and Gwen (perhaps in a relationship with Flash or Harry) then it shouldn't be any different from introducing any other female supporting character like Liz, Betty, Debra, etc. I also think that having MJ around would help the audience become more emotionally invested in the development of their future friendship/relationship by tying it to such a tragic event. Imo, it is the lesser of two evils, but to each their own.
If they introduce MJ after Gwen's demise, hopefully they'll stick to their guns, and won't pull any flashbacks/revelations showing that MJ knew Gwen all along. That's a little too convenient.

The supporting cast is widely seen as a major reason Spider-Man is one of the greatest comics of all time, I'd hardly consider wanting to see interactions between two important supporting characters as "wanting everything to be just like the comics." It's the interactions between them which makes them feel like real people, and not justcharacters slotted into roles.
They can only fit so much of his supporting cast into one movie. The characters should be supporting the movie, not the other way around.
MJ and Gwen are the two most important women in Spidey's life.If they can't work a single paltry scene with them both in the movie, they haven't earned their salary.
You can say the same thing about villains.
And that will really make a difference? Having MJ in for a small scene just to say she knew Peter while Gwen was alive? Well, too late. Might as well skip this movie because you're going to be disappointed.
Last time I checked, villains counted as characters.
I said, "The characters should be supporting the movie, not the other way around."
That counts for supporting cast, villains, etc.
