The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Scene Gwen Stacey Died - Part 2

Something I wanted to point out...

A while back, when I first started this thread, I tried to prove that the Rhino scene leads to the date scene (some called it the Winter Market).

Some argued with me because the timing didn't match up. They felt very strongly that the market must be winter, so the Rhino scene couldn't be right before. My argument was that the market scene did not seem to be in the winter since there were flowers and a working water fountain, etc.

Well, now that the sizzle reel is out I believe that my conclusions have been proven.

The Rhino chase scene will happen towards the beginning of the movie. This will happen during the daytime and the season will be somewhere between Spring and early fall. My bext guess is that this is happening post graduation and likely sometime in August, September or possibly early October.

Without a doubt this scene with Rhino leads to Peter being late to his date with Gwne that includes the dialogue of "Sorry I was late. There was a traffic thing." and Gwen's response of "Did your traffic jam have anything to do with, I don't know, being shot at by machine guns."

In the sizzle reel there is a part where Gwen reacts to something happening. Although it could be editing, there is almost no doubt that she is reacting to Time's Square, and specifically Electro. This will, undoubtedly, lead to Peter donning his Spidey costume and swinging over to Time's Square and the whole "Sparkles" and "You lied to me" dialogue. We also see Gwen in the crowd wearing the same date outfit with the blue skarf.

So, almost 100%, the date scene is right after the Rhino scene, and the date scene will lead directly to the Electro Time's Square scene. So likely this whole secrtion of the movie will be:

- Rhino chase scene
- Max Dillon working/accident
- Peter and Gwen date
- Electro at Time's Square
- Peter and Gwen going to Time's Square
- Time's Square battle

I think it would happen more like this (Keep in mind that TASM1 took place in the fall of 2012) :

Plane crash

-cut-

Summer 2013
- "You know what I like about being Spider-Man..."
- Armored car chase scene
- waitress MJ sees cars crash (cut from film)
- Spidey saves Max Dillon
- Spidey saves bus and defeats Aleksei
- Late to graduation

-cut-

Jumps to Spring 2014 to coincide with release date?
- Harry returns to NYC
-Max Dillon's birthday
- MJ on a motorbike meets Peter (cut from film)
- "Laundry Sherriff"
-Aleksei breaks out of Ravencroft and gets mech suit.
- Max and Gwen watch Spidey fight Rhino in an Oscorp elevator.
-Missles! Machine Guns coming from Rhino's suit! Explosions! A traffic jam! etc.
-Spidey defeats Aleksei again.
- Peter's face gets all dirty.
- Aunt May wonders where Peter has been ("...we have no chimney")

I'm not so sure about about the rest of the details, but I think that:

Sometime soon (maybe the next day) Peter runs into Harry for the first time and they reminisce about the good ol' days. It looks like it's the same day as Peter's date with Gwen. Perhaps, it is also the same day that Max has his accident. Before his accident, we see how obsessive he's become over Spidey ever since the Aleksei chase sequence months prior (we see the clippings all over his wall). After the accident, Max is presumed dead and is taken to the morgue. Peter meets up with Gwen for their date at a picturesque Union Square market (maybe Gwen references the Rhino mech suit battle). Max (now fully transformed) breaks out of the morgue, and the date scene leads directly into the Times Square battle.

Other things that I think are connected based on Peter's clothes:
- Harry showing Peter that Oscorp had been watching him.
- Aunt May telling Peter "..Secrets have a cost, but the truth does too."
- Peter on his porch in the sizzle reel

and:
-Peter sulking on top of a building in the gray t shirt
-Peter telling Gwen "Nothing is what I thought it was" in the sizzle reel.

One thing to point out is that Gwen is wearing the same clothes in the date scene as she is in the Times Square scene.

It doesn't make sense for the Rhino armored car chase scene to be right before the graduation.

See later in the evening, at the date scene (which is NOT in the winter), when Peter shows up the dialogue all points to this being the first time Gwen has seen Peter since that chase. The whole machine guns and traffic jams are almost 100% pointing to that scene, which would have only had the Max Dillon accident inbetween. Also the lightheartedness of Gwen and Peter's dialogue indicates that this is in reference to the chase where Peter embarrased Aleskei.

Next, why would Harry wait until the Spring of 2014 (11 months or so) to come back?

Ok, so the one point you bring up which is important to this discussion is how there may be two Aleskei scenes. One early in the movie where he gets embarrased by Spiderman, and then possibly another where he gets the Mech. Or these may end up being from the same scene.

So I guess it is possible that the machine guns and traffic jams are from the second (Mech) Rhino scene and not the armored car chase scene, but the chase scene seems to make more sense.

Guess we need to try to figure out if it's two scenes or just one. Anyone take a hard look at the mech video to determine if it's from the same area as the armored car chase? Could Aleskei be trying to get to the mech suit while driving the armored car, and when he is beaten by Spidey he somehow breaks out of the webbing and gets into the mech?

Also, Airnick, yes, Gwen is wearing the same clothes from the date scene at Time's Square because they come directly from the date to Time's Square because of the disturbance happening there because of "sparkles".

^ I really don't think that the date comes directly after the chase scene. We know that directly after the date scene comes the Time Square battle with Electro based on Emma's clothes. However, Max is clearly wearing different clothes when he is saved by Spidey, when he is talking to Gwen in the elevator (on his birthday), and when he has his accident, which leads me to believe that they all happen at different points in time rather than on the same day. I think Gwen was referring to Peter's battle with Rhino in that clip. Where else could the graduation possibly fit into things?

Anyway, with regards to a time jump:

We know for a fact that TASM1 took place in the fall of 2012. Check out this Daily Bugle newspaper. Best shot I could find on the internet. You might have to open the image in a new tab to get the full size (which still isnt all that great). Anyway, it's dated October 2012.

They were supposed to graduate the following Summer (in 2013), right? A few of the casting calls for extras explicitly stated Spring Season, and sometimes the time frame of these movies coincides with the dates/years that they are released (this one being released as early as mid April 2014). Remember all of those Daily Bugle posts on tumblr? They started in July 2013 and each new one that is posted uses the current date, but maybe that's no coincidence. Maybe those are meant to fill in a gap of time after graduation and pull us directly into the film's current events.

isn't there any possibility that he screams because he's trying to pull sth or because he may be hurt ?

I don't think so, to me it looks like he's crying cause he lost someone really close to him.

He is crying in pain over losing something it seems...

Whatever makes Peter late to graduation, it's more than likely not the Rhino encounter because it's pretty clear from the date scene dialogue that the Rhino encounter happens before said scene.

I think it's the Aleksei encounter that makes him late.

^ Why are you pulling the 'semantics card'? I'm pretty sure that we only see Alexsei/Rhino in one scene sequence, and the date scene dialogue is a pretty clear indicator that said sequence is what makes him late for said scene, not the graduation.

@ Digificwriter: There's an armoured car chase scene with a pre- Rhino Aleksei. Aleksei is webbed up by Spidey and has his pants pulled down.

Then, there is the full on mech suit Rhino fight with the missiles and the manhole cover. Those are likely two completely separate confrontations.

Sl500 answers your question.

I'm pretty certain that the Rhino chase sequence is the reason for why Peter is late to his date. It was a "traffic thing."

I doubt Peter would be referring to his fight with Rhino as a "traffic" thing.

Agreed.

Its likely gwen already knew about Spider-Man's fight with rhino anyway, if that shot of her and max watching the tv screen says anything

Then, where exactly would that leave the graduation and all of Max's character arc/development before he becomes Electro (if Times Square happens right after the date) and the "Laundry Sheriff" and "Chimney" scenes and all of the scenes of him with Harry wearing the same clothes that he is wearing on his date with Gwen?

Isn't that free falling clip the first we see of "Spider-Man" in the movie? It just doesn't make sense for that to happen right before his date, which happens after/around same time as Max's accident.

Wait, do we actually know the date scene happens right before the times square fight? They made it look that way in the sizzle reel, but it might not turn out that way in the actual film.

There's a good chance considering that Gwen is wearing the same clothes in the date scene and the TS scene.

I mean, Gwen is shown in a crowd in Times Square looking worried and wearing the same outfit that she was wearing during her date with Peter (which was also at night), and you can see her mouth "Max" after Electro reveals his name. It looks legit to me.

Most people tend to wear the same coat each day though, so that doesn't really confirm anything.
