I figure there are a number of people like myself on these boards that are college students, or even high school students. This can be the thread for discussing our accomplishments as students, grades, projects, etc, or our complaints, as students.

I have my first day of classes tomorrow, as technically a second semester Junior.

Anyone else have class this fall?

I do. I have three classes for the second year of my dual Master's program: Media Law, Civil War Literature, and Media Writing.

Not long ago I realized that there are people who were born when I was graduating college (1995) who are now adults. Goodness gracious. :csad:

Same here, some of them are now in medical colleges and will become Doctor in a year ! :wow:

I'm a freshman in college. Or will be, when classes start.

Enjoy college, everybody. Those four years fly by at a disturbing pace.

I'm technically still in High School, but in the UK we call it Secondary School. I just started Year 10 today, which also means I started studying for my GCSE's.

I am 25, this thread needs to burn. Makes me feel too damn old.

I'm getting my Master's degree in December. I'm studying Library and Information Science.

I was a freshman in college back when I joined the Hype, but have long since graduated.

Yeah, I was a bartender in a college town for too long after I graduated. Once I realized people born in the 90s were allowed to legally drink at the bar, I had to start rethinking things.

Sweet! *high five*

Are you focusing on libraries or archives? What are you hearing on job outlooks?

Since I'm mostly interested in technical aspects and the IS side of things, I'm looking more at working for a client service organization in businesses. I haven't paid too much attention to the job market in the library field. I'm always getting emails about job openings through our listserv, some from all over the country. I think the best thing is to network more with your faculty and get into groups like ALA or more specialized ones.

So you're on the tech side, gotcha.

Yeah, I'm already an SAA and ALA member. My classmates sometimes point me in the right direction too. My university sometimes sends out info on job openings, but so many of them are on the other side of the country, as you said.

I'm studying archives, which I love but there are so few "long term" jobs in that field. Six months are worst, two years at best.

I know no teacher will tell you this but GCSE's are a cakewalk. A-Levels are a much harder jump than anything else in UK education.

Yeah, every adult/college student I know tells me that but it doesn't feel like it. I did some mocks at the end of Year 9, for the two papers I did in English I got A* on both, I failed the Science one () and got about half of the total marks on Maths. I know I still have a ways to go but so far things aren't really looking up exams-wise

Woop woop, we're the youngest people here :o :cwink:

Senior here ( granted an old 25 year old senior),almost done with my Bachelors, debating on Grad school. My creative writing minor will be satisfied by the end of this semester.

Feeling burnt out though.

Meh, after I get my BA in Psychology in two years (I am behind), I want to get a certificate from a local community college, a one year program to become a sleep aid Technician. After that, the first college I attended just offered a new program, a Sleep Disorder graduate certificate program, so I would like to get that. After that, I want to work in the field for a bit, before going to the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology to complete my masters.

I am 21 years old now, I probably won't be done with school until I am close to 30 years old -_-. Maybe 26 actually.

I start my Senior year of High School tomorrow.

I'm a Sophomore in High School.

You guys are just babiesss :oldrazz:

As for you MovieMaster, I though you were older than me, given by your posts. Which is impressive cause I am usually a very accurate judge of character, even by simply reading text. Maybe not age though :P
