I like Brian Tyler's scores so im looking forward to this one, since the movie's coming out in 2 weeks, i assume a leak is close, in the meantime, there's this:

skip to the 50 minute mark, and you will hear part of the main theme, idk about you but i think it sounds really good.

The score sounds like something more Marvel-esque IMO. It's nice to listen to but doesn't feel Turtles-like. The original movies had that 90's feel to it and was memorable and easy to recite.

Take all of the animated versions of the TMNT or heck even "The Next Mutation", all those theme songs are catchy and stick with you. This feels epic but like I said it doesn't stick with you all day as far as those themes. Maybe it's just me.

Why would this movie have a 90s feel?
Anyway, I loved that. Sounds almost too epic for the turtles. lol. But it was a great piece of music. This dude is gonna do great with the Avengers 2

What I meant was it was a movie made in the 90's and had a 90's feel. It had keyboards and synths. This is being made in 2014; techno, dub step, and rap beats are what this should have. I, for one, really love Wiz's "Shellshocked."

I agree that the theme here sounds too epic for the Turtles. It's nice to listen to but I would, again, associate it more with something out of the Marvel films vs. the Ninja Turtles.

I'm interested in hearing the whole score, but I would've hoped for maybe a little more Eastern influence in the main theme. Not sure how I feel about the swashbuckling approach yet, but I'll have to see how it feels in context.

To be fair, the 2007 movie had a similar straight forward approach musically if I recall. And I'm sure Shellshocked will feature in the actual movie at some point even if it's in the background, wouldn't be surprised if some dubstep does too.

I really do have a great affinity for John Du Prez' score for the original film though. It flips on a dime from being light and playful to pretty emotional and epic (albeit in a very 80s/early 90s way).

I'm surprised you liked the Shellshocked song. I've seen a lot of dislike around the web for it.
I remember one of the trailers had some dubstep in it, and there were tons of complaints about that too. But I guess you can't please everybody, ya know?
The new Nick theme song is great because it feels like a modern re-imagining of the old theme song. Its up to date, but still very "Turtles". I didn't get that feeling from the new "Shellshocked" song.

And this is a movie made in 2014...completely different era. Times change, music changes...we either gotta roll with it or get left behind

Yeah. So like I said, I think it sounds similar to his work on "Iron Man 3" and "Thor: The Dark World" than "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." But I think it's hard for any composer to create a superhero theme that isn't compared to something from before.

Hands down, the score sucked.

The movie theme wasn't bad, but it honestly wasn't teenage mutant ninja turtles enough. It was too heroic and powerful in my opinion. PLUS they literally played it so many times during the movie. It was the go to music when they didn't know what else to play. I remember hearing during establishing shots of New York. Like come on- give us some variety.
