When watching in theatre did anyone else experience a real awkward silence or people laughing during the horrible soft core porn scene in the owl ship?

Probably more to do with the music rather than the act itself. I don't see how any one could have an issue with how Dan and Laurie fornicated. Quite "real", if you can call it that.

That would be the good kind of laugh.

I'm going to chalk this up to some fanboys just not understanding their movies can have comic relief. The scene was MEANT to be funny. It was not some scene that was intended to be intimiate and that audiences laughed at, thus making the fans awkward.

It was supposed to be funny. And it was. There is nothing awkward about it. I mean her hitting the fire ball thing that goes off and pushing against the consul desk in boots to that song? It was meant to be funny and it was. It was actually one of the best scenes in the movie, I thought.

Assuming we're talking about the owlship scene.

The gratuitous nudity seemed to be a trademark of Snyder's after watching '300', but the audience really started getting antsy as it went on and on, particularly with the music. It seemed like the audience didn't know where it was going until the flamethrower shot.

It was greeted with an awkward silence.

The music threw me off completely. I didn't feel like it fit the moment. A friend of mine said the music should have been darker, more like Sin City.

It was just plain silence, and I was sitting next to my Dad watching that! I only chuckled a little bit when at the end of the sex scene, they moan loudly and the song yells loudly "HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!"LOL!

My dad said in the scene where Dr M is giving "petty sex", it sounded like Laurie had asthma LOL!

How much did Billy Crudup pay off the CGI artists to make his crank that big?

All in favour of a Malin Akerman appreciation thread say I!

And I mean appreciating her more than just her body :cwink:

The audience I watched it with didn't made any weird noises or laughed during the sex scene, but I guess it went over well with them. However, the song was definitely a poor selection, and Snyder should've went with a romantic or even elevator music for that scene. It shouldn't be played like a parody or a comedy relief scene.

I'd love to take a closer inspection on this scene again. :cwink: :oldrazz: I hope it reaches the internet LOL.

Night Owl sex scene WAS played for some laughs....I hoep peopel realize that...its sexy, but silly as well.

I hate to say this but it seems like most people didn't.. get the scene

People were quiet up until the fireball. I was so concentrated on that girl's butt I didn't notice much else.

They didn't laugh. Until it got more graphic.... and the close up of Dan's ass humping...and the "O" faces.

I thought it was humorous. Of course no one else in the theater was laughing, but I was. People are taking this scene WAAAAAAAAAY to seriously.

they all laughed when the fire shot out...even i laughed a lil :oldrazz:

I kept questioning Malin Akerman's casting until that particular sequence.

Watching her carefully putting back the coffee cups and seeing her nude supple body was retribution for a terrible overall performance.

i just hate that version of Hallelujah. the fire ball was a bit gimmicky, but whatever, i just think that i was drawn out and took time from other things.

I initially thought that Malin won't do a good job as Laurie, but I must say she proved me wrong. Yes, she's not the best actor in the ensemble, but she was actually competent and in no way was she ever terrible. She definitely defied my expectation of her (and she also has a beautiful body to go with the sex scene). :word:

The sex scene is an example of why I think a lot of the direction was weird. That sex scene is probably the biggest WTF Moment I've ever experienced while watching a movie in theaters. My brother and I saw the movie together, and we looked at each other during this scene and said "What the hell?" as we chuckled.

Laurie and Dan having sex wasn't the thing that bothered me (it happened in the book, after all). The explicit presentation of the sex scene didn't bother me either. It was the song choice and the fire shooting out of Archie that turned it into a WTF Moment. It was just weird directing decisions that turned an ok scene into something ridiculous, in my opinion.
