Like all super hero adaptations there will be some version of the classic Shazam comic characters along with modern versions of their costumes and looks. So... What are you hoping to see? What are you hoping not to see? Any influences or tweaks that you think would work well in a 21st story of Earth's Mightiest Mortal on the big screen? Discuss here.

Something like this is exactly in the wheelhouse of what they should aim for. My only tweak would be to add the sash and the lapel buttons.

This is a fine design... But not for Shazam. I doesn't look like the outfit of a magically powered super hero. It's far too "modern" looking. Like it was made in a high tech facility.

Give it a sash instead of a belt and this is basically perfect.

It's interesting that a lot of "modernized" versions of the suit you find online don't include the sash.

?@ThomasLothar? I hope so. We'll be shooting a lot outside and I'd hate for a blurry phone pic to be the first look.

I hope there is not allot of unnecessary reinvention, like adding straps, armor plates everywhere, shoulder pads etc.
The costume is pretty straight forward. I actually like the old military buttoned lapel look.
Not crazy about the new hooded-cape design, but it works fine.
If the lightning logo glows and crackles with energy, that's great.

I think it needs to be as simple as possible. I don't mind it even old school spandex as that would suit the character. Keep the buttoned lapel look.

I definitely don't want the hood.

I hope they ditch the hood that the Nu52 version has. Always looked terrible in my eyes.

Will Shazam's costume just magically appear on him, or will he have to get dressed into it while still a kid, and then he grows to the correct size?

I certainly *hope* the costume magically appears. Any other option would be fairly awful, aesthetically.

i can see them going for similar material as man of steel suit i think the sash would look quite good on it just change the color/symbol and your good to go imo

This would be great. A nice compromise between the classic and modern looks.

I don't get it. Everything with the transformation is magic. Why would it be different here?

As long as they stay away from the New 52 version I'll be happy. Not a fan of the hood, the white thunderbolt or the lightning.
Think I'd prefer the buttoned tunic, but it's not a big deal for me.

Good to see that I'm not alone in my dislike of the hood. Hope it doesn't feature.

Yep, wouldn't exactly be entirely unhappy with something like that.

Funny everyone says they don't want the hood; I've always loved the hooded look so I'd be thrilled if they kept the hood. It would be a nice way (besides color, obviously) for it to be a visually distinct costume from Superman. Let's be honest, there's only so many ways you can do the jumpsuit/cape combo.

I like the hood and I seriously doubt that if he did have it, it would be up though the whole movie. :funny:

I think a bright red suit with yellow trimmings and a waist length white cape is pretty distinct from a blue suit with floor length red cape.

Ironically, Fawcett Comics once argued the same but DC didnt think so either. :oldrazz:

No to the hood. I don't want that at all. Superman's not doing much in this DC universe anyway, so why not let Shazam take that spotlight? People might see him as the Superman they wanted anyway. Why play that down?
