Here is the follow up to my Best Comic Book themes tournament.

Post a list of your favourite movie themes here.

The movie itself doesn't have to be great, but the theme should be memorable and iconic. You don't even have to have seen the movie if it is a famous piece.

The piece of music/ song has to be originally written for the movie and not an existing work that is simply used as the theme (eg "Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin for the movie "Manhattan" would not qualify).

The limit for your list is 16. The order does not matter. Each poster can only include a movie theme once in their list.

The more frequently a movie theme is listed by different posters, the higher its chances of getting in and its seeding.

Remember, this thread is for nominations. I will make a separate thread for the actual tournament in January.

I'm also going to limit the comic book/ superhero films allowed in since we just had a tournament for them.

There is no rush. Take your time to do your research, listen to pieces on YouTube, consider your choices and narrow down your list. If you add to/switch a film in your list, be sure to let me know just in case I miss it.

DEADLINE: December 15th

Lol well no point reinventing the wheel.

Take your time. I hope to see some classic themes from decades ago and not just recent movies.

Well I did think of 96 contestants originally. Don't know if that would work. I thought of 128, which would work (that's the number in a Grand Slam) but that's double 64 so might be a bit much.

This isn't my definitive top 16, but I wanted to change it up a little bit from other posts.

The two highlighted aren't eligible. Mission Impossible is the TV series theme used for the films. Since this isn't a TV series tournament I can't really allow it.

And Ride of the Valkyries is a classical piece of music by Richard Wagner, which was written in the 1850s, so definitely not original to Apocalypse Now :hehe: (or unique to that film either).

I think that might also go for for the Days of Heaven theme childeroland listed. It was Ennio Morricone's arrangement of an existing work from the 1800's. I'm only pointing this out because I almost listed it myself (stunning piece of music!), then realized it probably wasn't eligible.

Up-Main Theme
Skyfall-Main Theme(Adele)

"The Ecstasy of Gold" (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) - Ennio Morricone

End thread. :o

Here are my first 6, all Morricone.

1. Ennio Morricone - The Ecstacy of Gold (The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)
[YT]nOr0na6mKJQ
2. Ennio Morricone - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Main Theme
[YT]AFa1-kciCb4
3. Ennio Morricone - The Trio (The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)
[YT]7qyL3gArv3o
4. Ennio Morricone - Once Upon a Time in the West Main Theme
[YT]2s0-wbXC3pQ
5. Ennio Morricone - Poverty (Once Upon a Time in America)
[YT]iHPGD2aDzvU
6. Ennio Morricone - The Vice of Killing (For a Few Dollars More)
[YT]PJopL220kuE

All of these should be in imo, even if you have to increase the number of entries :hehe:

Ok thanks. I didn't know about that one as I'm not familiar with the film.
