Producers Martha and Dino De Laurentiis have scored the film rights to James Rollins' six-novel thriller series The Sigma Force says Risky Biz Blog.
The story revolves around a division within D.A.R.P.A., the Defense Department's agency that develops new military technology. Housed beneath the Smithsonian museum and made up of pairs of adventurous scientists and military operatives, the group uses all sorts of techniques to secure sensitive scientific information that could pose a threat to the United States.
The adaptation will not be of the first novel "Sandstorm" but rather involve a new story line developed especially for this project. The plan is to turn the property into a franchise should the first film be successful.
