If the show hits 1000 episodes, that probably gets it damn near the 50 year mark.

I don’t necessarily want that, but it would be impressive for a scripted show with a set group of actors/characters.

I remember when they had that marathon of every single Simpsons episode back-to-back. It was like 86 hours.

And that was a couple of years ago. I can only imagine what it’ll be like at 1000 episodes!

I would say it was definitely enjoyable at first, when there was a big community of Simpsons fans all together, watching the show, and I remember there were a couple times that songs would come on in the show and the whole crowd would know it and we’d all start singing it. But I think toward the end I really just wanted to get out of there.

Back when FXX was originally planned to be a 24/7 Simpsons channel before they just made it all their animated shows and comedies.

Fox has ordered two additional seasons of "The Simpsons," which will bring the longest-running series in primetime television history through its 22nd season. The 44-episode pickup ensures the series will reach an astounding 493 episodes. "The Simpsons" airs Sundays (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on Fox.
