How about a Spectre movie to be made ? Now, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster are the creators of Superman ? Why don't Warner Bros get involve in doing this "Spectre" movie ? Here is an idea why don't we move "The Spectre" to New Line Pictures just like "Shazam" is in talks to be on screen.

I cast Dennis Leary to play "The Spirit of Wrath" what do everyone think ? I was been on the posting board on Superherohype.com since, 5 years around 2003.

I think there are better choices than Dennis Leary. I've been sitting on a partial THE SPECTRE script for years. I'd love to see a live-action version. There was one briefly kicked around in the late 90's. Wes Craven was involved.

Glad it never happned then.

Guard, I'd love to read your unfinished Spectre script. I'm a huge fan of the character.

Of course, I'm not crazy about some of the changes DC has done with him lately. I don't mind him being attached to Crispin but he shouldn't have to look any different from his traditional look.

I'd like to see this.

Unfortunately I'd fear WB toning it down (ala Constantine) and not wanting to make any Christians angry.

And I'd love to let you read it...it's just that it's...really unfinished. It's very piecemeal. I kept on tweaking it and tweaking it...and still couldn't get the right tone.

Someday.

Yes, The Spectre movie will work.

Johnny Depp can play Det. Police Officer Jim Corrigan and hopefully if Wes Craven can make a decision for him to play.

I chose him. What do everyone think ?

I’ve been reading the Ostrander series, and it’s ****ing amazing. What an underrated character, oozing with potential. His shtick is so cinema ready. Murdered Police Officer comes back to life to enact vengeance on the deserving.

This could be a mid budget film with an emphasis on character and story. I’m not sure of the franchise potential, but Jim Corrigan has at least one solid solo film in him.

Part of what makes this character so fun is the way he interacts with others. He’s so deadpan and dry, we really need someone that can sell that. I can see any of these guys as Corrigan:

Ryan Gosling
Josh Hartnett
Michael C Hall
Michael Fassbender
Karl Urban
Bradley Cooper
Matthew McConaughey
Adam Driver
Andrew Lincoln

In the spirit of the character, I thought I’d resurrect this old thread.

It is kind of weird. You'd think "All powerful revenge monster, except the good guy" would be a fairly easy sales pitch as an unconnected movie adaptation. Like, I can understand why they might be iffy about doing one *now* as part of a vaguely connected DCEU, but that doesn't explain why nobody made a movie out of it back in the 80s or 90s.

This ^ it’s such a basic concept that has so much potential.

My favorite story I’ve read so far is a short arc where Spectre is trying to rescue this kidnapped boy, but his kidnappers have all died, so nobody knows the boy’s location. Spectre has to go to hell and fight a demon in order to interrogate one of the kidnappers, so that he may find the boy’s location before it’s too late.

The supernatural side of the DCU is who strong. I definitely hope we get a healthy dose of The Spectre in Abrams’ Justice League Dark universe.

One minor thing that has always bugged me is that Jason Blood and Jim Corrigan are virtually indistinguishable facially. They both have the same exact hairdo with the red hair and a white streak through it. If they’re on a team together, I definitely want some more visual differences between the two characters.

It’s funny, I’m a Christian and I LOVE The Spectre primarily because of my beliefs.

I’d love to see it made. I liked the Michael C Hall suggestion as well as Fassenbender. I definitely don’t want Dennis Leary as he is a bit old for Corrigan.

I’ve always thought the Spectre could make a great movie. I don’t know why the interest has never been there, aside from a weird pre-Spectre appearance by Corrigan in that short-lived Constantine series. The actor they got was terrible though (just like everyone else on that series not named Matt Ryan or Harold Perrineau).

Agreed, the only live action Spectre appearances we’ve seen have been extremely disappointing. I really enjoyed the animated short though, that was great.

I’d really lean into the Christian aspects of the character. Religious action/horror is such an underrated genre. Keanu Reeves’ Constantine was such a strong example in that genre, coincidentally I think he would make a perfect Corrigan.

I’m feeling Josh Hartnett for Jim Corrigan.

Interesting suggestion. He’s fallen off a bit (supposedly intentionally) but that new Guy Ritchie movie could help him come back. As he’s gotten older too he kinda looks like Charlie Bronson, which sort of suits a gritty cop like Corrigan.

Oooh I like the Charles Bronson shout, that dude was a beast. I could see Death Wish providing a bit of stylistic influence for sure. I love a good revenge movie.
