The Spiderwick Chronicles is coming out on thursday, my brother wants to see it, so I'm debating if I should go with him or see something else (under R).

Also, when researching the film I found out that Freddie Highmore is 16 years old. I thought he was around 10 or 11. :wow:

Has anyone gone to see this yet? The Indy trailer notwithstanding, I hear it's pretty decent...like the Goonies almost, according to some reviews. I'll be giving it a look tomorrow during my lunch hour probably.

I cant believe nobody went to go see it...............

I saw it, easily one of the best sci-fi childrens films ive seen in a long while. I definatley reccomend it

4/5

Not that many people went to see it because the film was poorly marketed. I only saw two commercials for this film before it was released. It feels like Paramount only spent a few million on advertising. Movies that cost around 90 to 100million to make should be marketed with a lot more money. I doubt that there will be a sequel because this movie is on pace to make around 40million domestically.

It was cute, but it also had enough peril and violence to keep it from being too "kiddie" in feel. Great FX by ILM and a solid performance by all the actors

8/10

Whats the movie about? it kind remiends me of never ending story.

Basically the story is.........

*slight spoilers*

A boy moves to a old mansion with his divorced mother, sister, and brother. He hates living there because he wants to be with his father badly but he soon learns that the mansion isnt really normal. He finds a book, a field guide, that a ogre creature wants so he can destroy everything basically. I definatley reccomend it, ive seen jumper and spiderwick this weekend and jumper doesnt even come close to how good this movie is.

Theweepeople, I agree somewhat. They didnt advertise enough but I saw many commercials for it but mostly because my nephew watches nickelodean all day and they advertise it like crazy on there. Besides that theres not much advertising

It's a very pretty, funny film with a nice human element and effective performances from the child cast members, I wish it had a more grounded ending though.

Not LOTR/Narnia level, but well above The Seeker and Enchanted.

Great movie. 8/10. Also I had no idea James Horner was the composer, but when watching it all I could think was "Casper!!!" That music alone made me feel like a child again because that movie was one of the key movies of my childhood alongside Pagemaster & Small Soldiers.
