I liked the first one, but I don't know how well this one will do.

I saw the Strangers the same night as Hellboy 2 (using orange wednesdays in the UK) which has now become known as Bumfest Wednesday as both films weren't that cracking. Strangers, in particular, was crap IMO. The one good bit in the entire film was when Liv was looking for or on the phone and you just saw the guy in the mask standing in the background..

Maybe they will improve on it, who knows but it's a pass for me.

I look forward to this very much. The first one is one of my favorite horror films of the decade. The only thing that worries me is the director isn't the same in this film. The directing was the first one's strongest element. Very old fashioned. He should have been doing another Halloween.

I don't the original was just a torture porn to me. I predicted every moment that would happen. I knew that in this scene the killers would be behind the main characters and they wouldn't see them. He would shoot his friend. That she would be jumped now. Tehre was no suspense because there were no rules. The killers were inside the house and outside the house simultaneously without explanation. The entire point was we were systematically watching a couple tortured and then murdered. That's it. You know about five minutes in how it is going to end and the movie cheats. The killers can be right behind her in the house and all outside touching the guy as he starts the car and the vanishing without a rationale explanation for why he didn't see them.

It was just too trashy and after something that brutalized these films so harshly like Funny Games, I just couldn't enjoy it on a visceral level like so many did. The only surprise was that liv lived at the end.

Teleportation in horror movies where the killers are human is a staple, as illogical as it is. Someone appears in front of your ass, you're either gonna hear or see them. I chalk it up to the victim just being so freaked out they don't notice anything, but it is a cop out.

lameness, i really hated that they try to make them look supernatural and crap. Where they disappear in a matter of seconds. Also more lame stuff being the victims phones never work, they have a gun but yet somehow manage not to use it on the attackers.

One thing I hate about horror movies is that after they use a weapon they through it to the side alot . Like in Zombieland he uses a set of hedgeclippers , a bat , etc and just throws it to the ground(cool movie though).
In real life you get ahold of a weapon you know that thing ain't leaving your side no matter how many people you kill.
