upcoming issue 11

man... you guys had me excited... i thought this was a thread about how sucky of a character she is and what a spoiled whiney twunt she can be and how we wish supes would sprinkle her cornflakes with kryptonite...
oh... now it is!

I like her in the Legion book. I've heard so much bad about her solo book, I won't touch it.

Like I said somewhere else Supergirl is a top 10 sales DC SOLO comic book for all the months her comic book has come out from 1 to 10 so far. This is very good.

Would love to see Superman more in her book and Supergirl more in his book. She is his own cousin for crying out loud!

Very cool page: http://supergirl.astraldream.net/issues3.html

Don't forget the Supergirl movie is coming out on dvd.November 28, 2006.

Supergirl #0 (August 2005) - #67 (36,200)
Supergirl #1 (August 2005) - #6 (123,400)
Supergirl #2 (September 2005) - #6 (101,700)
Supergirl #3 (November 2005) - #5 (100,000)
Supergirl #4 (February 2006) - #4 (104,700)
Supergirl #5 (February 2006) - #9 (85,200)
Supergirl #6 (May 2006) - #12 (102,800)
Supergirl #7 (July 2006) - #21 (85,200)
Supergirl #8 (July 2006) - #26 (76,900)
Supergirl #9 (August 2006) - #27 (74,100)
Supergirl #10 (September 2006) - #24 (67,400)
Supergirl #11 (November 2006) - #35 (62,500)

Now, we're not going to count Supergirl #0 on account that it is a reprint of Superman/Batman #19.

As you can see, Supergirl was no longer a top ten book for about a year now with Supergirl #5 being the last Supergirl book being in the top 10 spot. As you can further see, the sales for Supergirl have droped every month with the exception of Supergirl #4 and Supergirl #6. In ten issues the sales of Supergirl have dropped 55% and continues to drop. This is not good at all for a book.

Why is Supergirl failing as a book, because at the moment, the new Kara Zor-El is not well liked as a character (I think that she has potential and can be used good like in "Up, Up, and Away"), the book is being poorly written, and has faced a lot of delays.

Would love to see Superman more in her book and Supergirl more in his book. She is his own cousin for crying out loud!
I would love to see that piece of trash Supergirl book get canceled more like it. However, I do agree with you that she should appear more in Superman and Action Comics.

Don't forget the Supergirl movie is coming out on dvd.November 28, 2006.
That movie blew, there's a reason why Warner Bros. retconned it out of continuity with the other crappy Superman films with Superman Returns. But you know, I'm a reasonable guy, I do think that Supergirl should be reintroduced in the next Superman movie. She's a sidekick to Superman, sidekicks don't deserve their own movies.

if you've never read it you have no right to judge- it is a very girly book though. however i think some of the art is great. the book deals with a lot of relatable themes but does not much affect the larger DC universe.
i like it especially the whole identity crisis she is having now after she was plit into her good and evil selves. issues 9 and 10 were very good and i'm not gonna be dropping this book unless it takes a drastic turn for the worst.

-and i really did not mean to sound like something from the OC. thats why that sentance is soo... removed lol.

How would you be able to tell?

The only relatable aspect of that book is that if I were her, I'd figure out some way to slit my wrists, and reading the book makes me want to slit my wrists.

.

I said DC solo comic book. Of ONLY DC comics books. Without Marvel and the other comics book Publisher in there. JUST DC. Take out the "52 week" comics, that will not last forever, and Supergirl is a top ten DC comic book.

As for the drop, September 2006: http://www.icv2.com/articles/home/9470.html

FLASH FASTEST MAN ALIVE #4 is down too, TEEN TITANS, even SUPERMAN is down. I guess because of Superman # 656, at 29 that it is going to get canceled too?

DC comic are very happy. As long the Supergirl, and the other DC comics book characters make money, they will keep the books alive and make money. It is all about money. If they do not make money, they get canceled.

That is ****ing twisted logic.

Kudos to you on your restraint and good sense. Her solo book is so awful that if you read it, you'll be forced to hate the Legion book on principle. May you continue to enjoy the only comic which portrays Kara Zor-El in a way that is actually somewhat likeable. Instead of violently and offensively awful on every level.

it is a very girly book

You misspelled "****ty."

... Also and for chrissakes, can somebody get that girl an entire goddamn t-shirt? I mean I'm all for revealing, but that just looks undignified.

You can't take out Marvel Comics or 52. That's the way sales are measured. Even if you did, that still doesn't account Supergirl's sales drop of 55%!

FLASH FASTEST MAN ALIVE #4 is down too, TEEN TITANS, even SUPERMAN is down. I guess because of Superman # 656, at 29 that it is going to get canceled too?
Superman will never get canceled. Along with Batman, Detective Comics, and Action Comics, those books are forever safe from cancelation because they are DC's first comic books and have such high issue numbers. And as long as Geoff Johns is writing Teen Titans, that book is safe from cancelation.

the Flash: the Fastest Man Alive (June 2006) - #7 (120,400)
the Flash: the Fastest Man Alive #2 (July 2006) - #25 (77,500)
the Flash: the Fastest Man Alive #3 (August 2006) - #30 (70,500)
the Flash: the Fastest Man Alive #4 (September 2006 - #25 (67,400)

I wouldn't be surprised if The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive eventually got canceled due to its sales. But you have to take into account several factors:

1. The first issue was heavily promoted under the One Year Later banner, so the first issue would get some rather high sales and experienced such a high drop in sales the next issue. The first issue just wasn't that great.

Also the sales drop from the last three issues is nowhere near as dramatic as Supergirl's drop.

2. It's the Flash. He's one of the Big Six DC characters (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, and Aquaman). Asides from Aquaman, it's harder to cancel one of main books of the Big Six. I think the next arc, DC will give the book to a more talented writer.

3. the Flash: the Fastest Man Alive is only at issue four and is getting better. Supergirl is entering issue number territory where a lot of books end up getting the axe (around issues #10 - #30, Breach, Doom Patrol, Blood of the Demon, Manhunter) and is not getting much better.

4. DC is giving the axe to a lot of books in the Batman and Superman lines. Batgirl, Superman (volume 2), Gotham Central, and Batman: Gotham Knights were given the axe.

DC comic are very happy. As long the Supergirl, and the other DC comics book characters make money, they will keep the books alive and make money. It is all about money. If they do not make money, they get canceled.
If a book sells it basically makes money. It's just how much money they make from them. Supergirl is dropping and fast. It's not a debate of if Supergirl will get canceled. Cancelation of Supergirl is an inevitibility and is a matter of when.

Upon reflection, it's not so much the half-a-shirt look as it is the half-a-shirt with goddamn long sleeves. I mean come on, that just looks stupid.

If by 'better' you mean 'has gone from utterly awful on every level, to utterly awful on slightly less than every level'... well you're still wrong, because as of issue four it is still utterly awful on every level.

It might seem better cause they had to jam a whole lot of awfulness into that first issue, and since then you might have had the chance to digest and adjust to some of that awfulness. But it's still awful.

I never said the Supergirl movie was a work of art. The movie was not good, but this is the Supergirl thread, some Supergirl fans might not have known about it..

It has gotten better than the mediocre crap it was for the first issues. Issue five put it into "Okay" territory. What this book really needs is Mark Waid.
