The Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow News and Discussion Thread

I could never have predicted David Krumholtz as a member of the House of El in a million years, but he’s a good get.

Maybe he's playing her adoptive father, Fred Danvers.

Mmm… could be.

Her Kryptonian parents are really the only ones that factor into the Woman of Tomorrow comic, but it’s always possible that the film gives us a taste of Kara’s life on earth.

I really hope we get another Supergirl movie, for many reasons, but also so he gets a chance to be mad scientist Zor-El. Not really any room for it in this story but he'd kill it.

If the movie is successful, I can't see why there wouldn't be another Supergirl movie!
Certainly. I could see Supergirl staying in space and kind of leading the DCU space movies. She could lead a Justice league space team or help introduce the New Gods or Braniac. So much potential with the Girl of Steel and you really don’t need Supes for her to work.

I’d love it if we get to see Martian Manhunter or some Thanagarians in Supergirl. The space setting opens a lot of doors.

Hmm, I'm aware Zor-El eventually becomes Cyborg Superman but I'm not 100% on how that story plays out. Could be fun on the big screen though.

I still think putting Kara in the 31st century with the Legion of Superheroes is the way to go. But MM isn't a bad idea either--maybe pairing him rather than Clark is more interesting (I guess they've already done that to a degree in the CW series but that's not something I ever watched).

I really believe Supergirl will be a part of the the puppy bowl clip along with Superman and Krypto. My prediction is it will be a clip of all three flying together. A Superman movie dream.

It makes me so happy that the first pic we get is from the alien bar at the opening of the comic. Really gives me hope this will be a relatively faithful adaptation of the story, and not like a "in name only" type of adaptation like...every Marvel adaptation that shares a name with a specific comic storyline. :o

EDIT: Just realized this looks less like the bar Kara's at when we first meet her, and more like the way station bar she first stops at with Ruthye. But if that jacket/hoodie is part of the costume and not Milly's clothes, it's probably the first bar, since Kara's trying to be incognito at that point.

Also, random observation, but I love how it appears they're following the SG TV show's lead in making Kara's shield the same as Clark's but with blue instead of yellow on the interior. I loved that design choice, and I seflishly appreciate how it makes the two symbols easily-differentiated on t-shirts. :D
