You could definitely include the early '80s too. The Dark Phoenix Saga, God Loves, Man Kills, Days of Future Past, Wolverine's first solo book...so many classics in a short amount of time.I'd even say late 80's, 90's, and early 2000's they ruled the comic world
Even now the X-books are up there on the sales charts, right behind Spidey and Batman
And here on the Hype's comic thread, X-Men gets discussed regularly, whereas nobody ever really talks about the Avengers
Deadpool & Wolverine
On a related note, I actually like Ferris Buehler’s girlfriend as Harley Quinn.
They just never made the transition to film that Avengers made - that's what happens when instead of Feige you have Tom Rothman having a say and continuously slashing budgets last minute, getting extremely petty over X3 and tanking the franchise for his own revenge, and generally having no faith in CBMs (why is the dude still involved with them decades later?!). X-Men have one more shot now with the MCU transition but if they blow this then it will be very difficult to ever make the jump to their full potential. The X-Men and FF pre MCU certainly were more popular. I was an Avengers fan the most of the 3 growing up personally. I probably would have ranked them Avengers, FF, and then X-Men. But I def had the most X-Men content of the 3 to chew on. In the 90s, that's when they ruled the world of comics
To be fair he has about 87 jobs to keep all the X-fans happy. The X-Men are personal to a lot of people. I just need Cyclops to lead, for Storm to be cast correctly and soar, and the right tone to be set.
You got one job Feige.
Odds are he’s taking a bashing from at least a few here haha. I consider myself pretty chilled compared to most at least in terms of character choices. I don’t have particular favourites - there are about 11-14 characters with not much between them for me, which is what makes the team so great. But it needs to be top quality and be given the opportunities Avengers got.
Back in the 90s, definitely. But things change. The MCU completely upended the apple cart and gave the Avengers newfound popularity that blew away what things were like when we were younger. The X-Men and FF pre MCU certainly were more popular. I was an Avengers fan the most of the 3 growing up personally. I probably would have ranked them Avengers, FF, and then X-Men. But I def had the most X-Men content of the 3 to chew on. The idiot should have sold the video games unit before wrecking it and while there was significant interest before regulators started taking a big interest in the industry. Now many of those studios would be viewed as very risky and it’s tough for platform holders to get involved going forward. My thinking was that WBD would eventually be swallowed up by Kabletown or spun off with NBC Universal after the end of the Reverse Morris Trust restrictions. But the Biden administration's regulatory environment, WBD's huge debt burden and the company's recently devalued linear networks are going to be an impediment to any major transaction. The Wrap says the company is looking to sell off a Polish TV network and WB video games unit before investigating the sale of a bigger piece like CNN.

David Zaslav's media giant determined a split of streaming and studio businesses from its linear networks could create "very significant operational challenges" and trigger lawsuits from debt investorswww.thewrap.com
