The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: Quoth the Kraven, "Nevermore." - Part 61

Looks like Joker 2 will only make about $400 million total. Has any other studio had sequels to billon dollar films in consecutive years which make less than half of the original like it looks will happen with Aquaman 2 and now Joker 2?
Last year's The Marvels, though it may not be considered 100% a direct sequel to Captain Marvel. Alice Through the Looking Glass also comes in mind.

Phillips didn’t have the foresight to read the chat today or he might have done a much better job with the pizza at least.

Sounds awesome. This is another tragedy as Finland was one of my first holidays without parents or school friends and I missed out on these glorious combos. I also should have had the foresight to already know you at that point (20 something years ago) and get the lowdown on pizza intel for the area. :csad: Really enjoyed the holiday though, great place.
Glad you had a nice holiday! What part of the country did you visit? I guess it's usually Helsinki or Lapland, both worthwhile.

Studios keep not understanding anything at all.
Some of the best Movies etc have happened because it goes against what the "fans" think they wanted.
Some of the bes performances happened because directors choose a unexpected actor.

And studios already have something like that which shows how unreliable it is...its called Test Screenings.
Time and time again Test Screenings have shown that a small test audience and the large General Audience are two different beasts.

Also, at the very least Disney should know how bad it is when halfway through you cater to those who call themself "Fans".
Like, Rise of Skywalker exists and they catered as much as they could to "Fans" and it was bad.

The far easier and better option would be to hold Youtube, Social Media accountable.
That cant be so hard considering how many grifters literally lie and slander studios and cause damage.
Force youtube to demonitize Grifters, force Metacritic etc to take actions against review bombing and the problem solves itself.
A ton of the negativity in fandoms etc exists just because Grifters bet on negativity to get clicks/Money...take those out and the fandoms start to become less toxic.

I prefer directors/creators get to make their vision without interference. Whether that fits with what I want is a point of interest but a compromised vision with elements shoehorned/forced in doesn’t help anyone. Like Venom in SM3 didn’t do much for Venom fans and simultaneously compromised Raimi and the future of Spidey films.

I am hoping Joker 2 leads to Joker being shoved in my face less by people. If it can do that, I am glad it exists

Same here. Lets let the character rest for a while and build up a hunger for his cinematic return in like a decade or so.

And maybe i’m alone in this but i REALLY dont wanna see Barry Keoghan’s Joker come to fruition. Lawd that looked dreadful to me.
