The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: Quoth the Kraven, "Nevermore." - Part 61

Madame Web's cultural moment is coming. Time will vindicate me and all shall appreciate it as I do. The boldness of ADRing the villain's dialogue as a metacommentary on how so many villain plans can be swapped out without changing anything. The avant garde zooms. The choice to have the Pepsi logo save the day as an examination of the power of branding in the American consciousness. It's truly a film.

So…

After this and that Gucci movie, is it safe to say Lady Gaga has become box office poison or is live action Harley Quinn box office poison?

ETA: wait, the Gucci movie didn’t bomb, so I guess Harley is toxic and I answered my own question. :sneeze:

Gaga was really good in Gucci also. Her role in that is why i thought she'd be perfect for Harley.

Yeah she was great in Gucci despite all the other craziness that happens in it and she was good in Joker 2, it just so happens the movie didn't really care about her.

We live in a world where some want vindication for Madame Web, but not for Eternals.

This is why I have trust issues. :o

I think it is fair to ask if the perception of live action Harley Quinn is low considering Harley Quinn as a character has headlined 3 straight flops.

With each passing day, I understand more and more why Alan Moore chose to turn his back on this world to become an old crusty birthday party wizard
Leah Moore's twitter thread about her Dad's deep love of superhero stories and how it was ground into dust by the ugly greed of the industry and how it treated the people responsible for these characters is something I think of often. Particularly as the joys of any kind of nerd culture diminish by the day and the landscape just gets more unpleasant.

Remember when people were talking about $70 million opening weekend. Good times, good times. Lets see how low it can go.

I aint gonna lie....I love that this is flopping

Lol some of us are relishing in this one.

Even from people who didn't even see the movie.

In principle though it's a movie that was made by people who never wanted to make a sequel just because the studio pressured them due to the first one being immensely successful. That alone is not a logic to root for. Just saying.

I guess everyone was in agreement that Joker didn't need a sequel. I'm supposed to be seeing this with a friend of mine on Monday but now I'm really thinking of suggesting seeing something else. :o
Megalopolis it is. :o

I think Arthur getting raped is probably the straw that broke the camel's back.
And that's why The Shawshank Redemption is the worst movie ever made. :o
