The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: Quoth the Kraven, "Nevermore." - Part 61

I think the young man is a great actor and will do a good job, but his casting is inevitably going to viewed as a part of the continuing trend of Hollywood preferring light-skinned black people over dark-skinned black actors & casting light-skinned actors in dark-skinned roles, and Jon Stewart is a dark-skinned black man in the comics, and while it’s easy to dismiss such criticism as trivial and go with the “it doesn’t matter just get the best actor for the role” I think it’s valid criticism especially since there is a stigma of dark-skinned people in our society and it be nice to see more dark-skinned black
people have more positive representations in media.

It would be nice to see a dark-skinned actress play Storm for once.

Um I think people will try and say that but I’d disagree at least when it comes to men. I think if anything when it comes to black men Hollywood prefers dark skinned. Look at the leading black male actors most of them are dark skinned.

Denzel
Eddie
Will
SLJ
Terrence Howard
Wesley Snipes
Daniel Kaluuyah
Coleman Domingo
Jamie Fox
Lakeith Stanfield
Idris Elba
Donald Glover
Anthony Mackie
Don Cheadle
Morgan Freeman
Mahershala Ali
Michael B.

Out of that list only a few are light skinned. Looking at Marvel outside of Terrance Howard’s casting for one film (and he didn’t even suit up) their black male heroes are all dark skinned. This casting is great.

We're likely getting a lineup of members for Gunn's Justice League to match its 2000s animated counterpart, isn't there? Because, you know, harp on 2000s nostalgia.
Depends will we omit MM for Aquaman? :o

You may be on to something because I could see them leaning towards Wally as Flash to distance themselves from Barry after the DCEU.

YESS!!! THANK YOU GUNN!

Sometimes the obvious choice is the best one, y’all.

Fingers crossed Hal and John’s outfits are comic accurate and that the VFX won’t be iffy.

ngl, the castings for the upcoming DC Universe are very promising and much better than any casting of MCU post endgame.

New Agatha TONIGHT. It's going to be the 80s-style possession episode, can't wait.

Oh so they are doing exactly what WandaVision was doing with each episode.
