The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: Quoth the Kraven, "Nevermore." - Part 61

Just watched Kick-Ass again for the first time in a while. Vaughns powers have wained over the years but KA was him at the top of his game and 14 years later is still a great movie. Nicholas Cage is awesome in the movie, with ATJ being a likeable and affable lead.

And while the character absolutely would be even more controversial now than she was even in 2010, how can you not love and root for Hit-Girl. Moretz was fantastic.

I still can't believe Jim Carrey is in the second one.

I'll say one more thing about Agatha.

This was me at the beginning of the sacred chant version of Down The Witches Road:

And this is me weeks later continually blasting it on my Apple Music:

It did but the lack of a great villain was the least of its problems with that God awful writing in seasons 2 and 3.

Well, the lack of a good villain was definitely ONE of its problems. Her mother in season 2 was dull as dishwater and I couldn’t even get through season 3. Don’t even get me started on what they did with Trish. People who want to act like the Netflix MCU was a million times better than Disney + MCU must have mentally blocked out the awfulness of JJ S 2&3, Luke Cage S2, all of Iron Fist, Punisher S2 and The Defendturds. The highs of Daredevil (all seasons) and seasons 1 of JJ, Luke Cage and Punisher mask how awful some of the other material really was.

Hey, easy there!

Luke Cage Season 2 was underrated as hell. That supporting cast was everything!

No comment on Mike Colter though. :sneeze:

I agree it was kind of a 50-50 with either fantastic ones or trash ones. I'd personally switch Luke Cage season 2 which I really liked with Daredevil season 2 which to this day I find completely underwhelming and unfocused. There were definitely some awful shows/seasons in Netflix Marvel as well, but the thing is nothing even comes close to the great ones of that era in the Disney+ shows. They feel so mid and soulless.

So in the end despite it being a bumpy road, I'd still take the Netflix shows overall without giving it much thought personally.

I liked parts of Luke Cage season 2 (Bushmaster was cool) but it draggggggged and I got so sick of them shoehorning a song into every episode. Was that really necessary? It just felt like they were filling time. I do like Colter though. He’s not the greatest actor but I felt he worked well for Luke.

Ah yeah DD season 2 was kind of a mixed bag. I loved everything with Frank and Elektra, but the Hand are the WORST villains and I can’t believe they kept going back to them. They almost ruined that season, they definitely ruined The Defenders. I would say they ruined Iron Fist too, but Iron Fist ruined Iron Fist.

That Bakuto guy really is a rare talent. He managed to be the worst part of two universes (the Netflix MCU and that Transfomers movie where he played that stupid roommate character).

I just cry about what they did to the Hand. I blame racist ass Jeph Loeb for that.

But Kevin Feige... get Elodie Yung back as Elektra, cast Anna Sawai as Kwannon, find a formidable actor to be Matsu'o Tsurayaba (one of the most bad ass names for a fictional character outside of Johnny Blaze) and the Hand can be resurgent again.

You sound as whiny as those Agents of SHIELD people who just want Ghost Rider and their version of the Darkhold in the MCU. :o

Nicholas Cage and how he said "chiiiiild" in Kick Ass was more disturbing than what he did in Longlegs. :o

Once again Longlegs catching a stray for no reason. :o

You better be careful, Nic Cage is actually gonna find you like

I WANT Mr Cage to come find me. I got something for him.

Ooh Longlegs, so scary... pffft. I take Brooklyn bound 4 trains in the middle of the night with a bunch of Longlegs. :o

Ngl when I see the title I think of that Junji Ito story with the mysterious neighbor who is revealed to be some mechanical monster with long appendages.

I feel so bad for the actors for Nobu and Madame Gao. They definitely deserved some character development, even the Russians were given more to do.

Loeb sucks!

Watching Joker 2 right now. Good God, this is so

Good thing I didn’t waste my money on that, oh, boy! Those spoilers!

Update: Transformers One was much less boring. Hemsworth's American accent is dodgy as ever but his attempt at a Peter Cullen impression at the end was...a valiant effort. I'll allow it. :funny:

I actually regret not seeing Transformers One in theatres! They really should have done a better job editing those trailers!

Hemsworth was okay, but Brian Tyree Henry was awesome as Megatron!

I wish Hollywood will just learn not to cast Chris Hemsworth in a blockbuster outside of Thor. :o

Disney’s making a mistake with that Prince Charming movie!
I think Cabin in the Woods was an outlier where he essentially played the Fred of the group.
