The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: Quoth the Kraven, "Nevermore." - Part 61

Wow i just heard comic artist John Cassaday just passed away too. Easily one of my favorite Xmen artists on easily one of my favorite comic book runs ever.

Damn what a day guys.
I love planetary and his artwork on that series

Well, that’s great news. Brolin is a good actor but it seems like he might be a POS in real life and he isn’t quite the right fit for Hal. I’m hoping McConaughey or Pine get it. Olyphant would also be great but he would need to eat a bit more lol.

Yep, just an all-around good news day. In fact there is nothing that could possibly bring me down…

Oh for ****’s sake.

Watch Ryan Reynolds make a cheeky tweet or advertisement out of the Brolin green lantern stuff

Surprised it hasn’t already happened, actually

Hal is an older vet in this story. He won’t be Corenswet’s age no matter who they cast, and he won’t be the main GL in the DCU going forward, I’d wager.

Ugh. I would love to see a Hal and John series where they’re roughly the same age. If Hal has to be older than John, then maybe 5 years. Not a fan of the older Hal mentors younger John trope.

GL has potential to spawn numerous sequels and spin-offs. Not giving Hal and John their proper origin stories and adventures is cheating the fan base.

Hard disagree. Hal’s origin ain’t that special and can be gotten from flashbacks, but I think not leaving it open to introduce the newer younger Lanterns would be cheating the fanbase far more. Hal’s far more interesting as a vet. The age of Hal mainly tells me we’re gonna see Kyle and maybe even Jess and Simon before too long, which is definitely a good thing. This choice leaves room for all major Earth Lanterns, which just creates a lot more potential. If Hal were young here, any others would be likely be years off, if they’d even be in the plans at all. That would suck, imo.

That's why I'm totally behind this idea. It makes story and cast possibilties way bigger instead of just starting with 1 guy and slowly building up from there. In the current landscape of comic book movies and shows, we don't need to start right on Year 1. We all get it, just jump into the deep end and tell whatever story using whatever characters you want.

If Brolin turned down Lanterns, then Leto could turn this down too.

We can’t lose hope!

I just have a feeling that Leto is likely to say yes. After all, he didn't turn down Morbius. :o

He also didn’t turn down Suicide Squad or Haunted Mansion. The only thing I can think of that was good over the last decade is Blade Runner 2049, and he was only okay.

Everyone’s really turned on the guy in the past decade, not surprising as he seems like a #### too!
