Oh yeah, Oz is definitely safe. One (unfortunately) awkward thing about these in-between shows that take place between movies (whether it’s Marvel or DC) is that you can’t shake things up TOO much or else when people go see the next movie (who skipped the show) they aren’t like, “Wait, when did that happen? How did that character die?”

That’s why, I’m guessing, you could probably skip the entirety of Falcon & the Winter Soldier (not saying people should; it was a mixed bag but I liked it for the most part) and still watch Brave New World and Thunderbolts and not be lost. The show was fun and helped to move the stories of those characters along but there was probably nothing there you NEEDED to see to understand what happens next.

The Penguin is (obviously) a better show by a mile but they aren’t going to kill off Oz unless it’s in a movie. And that makes sense, especially with a character as well known as him and with such a prominent actor in the role. But I commend the show runner for still giving us a show that is able to sit in that comfortable space with the character and is still provide us with something impactful and brutal. I hope Lauren LeFranc gets some recognition for this. We praise Reeves a lot here but she’s the one leading this show and it’s easily movie quality. And she doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page yet! Hopefully WB gets her to direct a DC film next, or run more TV projects since Penguin might only be a one-off.
