To be fair, we've known this one since 2008.What is Lucasfilm’s recent obsession with making us all painfully aware that Hutts f***?

I’ll be seeing that in my nightmares. Thanks.
I don't understand your point. How they get to super high price tags will be different. JJ spent money on location filming and such. The Avengers will spend it on crew. How does that change the ROI? Do you think these movies won't be making 2bil apiece? Do you think they won't have all time partner deals?I also think that the Star Wars films didn't spend over a $100 million on just 4 people. I mean, the FF, Thunderbolts, various Young Avengers, Simu Lu are all on the cheaper side of their contracts. Hemsworth, Holland, Larson are all going to be 8 digits.
But then again, I'm here still aghast at RDJ and Russo's paydays.

The movies can cost 750m apiece (they won't). If combined the movies make 4 billion "only" (they'll make more), they're making well over a billion in profit off box office and merch, and they'll never have to spend a dime on advertising, as companies will be throwing money at them to do it. They won't be crossing a profit threshold. They're going to make a lot of money. A lot. While theoretically revitalizing their other flicks, leading to more profits.Again, public facing budget is going to be that high. POTC 4 wasn't originally reported as $400 mil. There are certain costs they can't hide, namely how much they pay the talent. Remember how they slipped early on, either Feige or Whedon, I forget, with little old Avengers 1, with its paltry reported $220 million budget. How that film needed to hit a billion? Which is why, while I do enjoy the public numbers, what the studios actually do afterward is the more telling story of a movie's success.
And the funny thing about ROI, is that it isn't a straight line for expectations. Making profit vs making the profit we want. You spend this much money, they are going to want much, much more money. So, while 2 billion may hit the profit threshold, there is no way that is what they are aiming for.

I don't get why you think these movies won't make insane bank. The one thing we've learned from dumb movie going crowds, is they just want nostalgia of big **** they love. Look at the increases for Inside Out 2 and Moana 2 this year. Secret Wars would be on the way to being the first 3 bil movie, if Avatar 3 wasn't going to get there first.
Also the public facing budget stuff is a weird thing to bring up. Because even the "real" budgets are rarely real themselves. Leaving out a lot of the money these companies steal from state and local governments.
Sidebar from Disney's greed, but I'm disgusted with myself for enjoying Creature Commandos.
Specifically the Bride and the second episode.
I dont think this is the end for Sony making Spider-Man spinoffs entirely. But I hope this means they will do a creative reset and start doing more sensible concepts. Making solo movies based on villains who are not villains in your movies and won't fight Spider-Man and taking Madame Web out of the trash heap were not the winning ideas
So what you’re saying is, you do the Scarlet Spider movie and I got Stunner?
