The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

This is purely my conspiracy theorist brain at work here but I think what Sony’s been doing is this: since Venom 1 and 2 they thought that they could get quick cash grabs off of these Spiderman characters so they brought in these directors and greenlit whatever the Hell these directors wanted to do and MISLED these directors into thinking thay they were playing in the Spiderman/Mcu sandbox

They then let these directors make the movie they wanna make and then when they turn in their first draft tell them, “yeah, um, because of future plans for these characters we need to hedge our bets so we’re gonna need you to go in and re-edit the movie, here’s our notes.” And then the filmmakers essentially are told to recut-re ADR the entire movie within a ridiculous time span removing any references or easter eggs or anything that makes the movie lead into something….despite the fact tbe filmmakers were told at the beginning that these films were supposed to lead to something.

I think all these filmmakers were hoodwinked from the get go and sabotaged.

At least the Sony Superhero Universe is dead now, according to this tweet:

I think Sony firmly thought they could make all their movies MCU adjacent. The Morbius marketing shows that at one point, Morbius and Vulture were in the same prison. So Morbius at one point was set in the "same universe" as Tom Holland. But clearly Marvel Studios and co with lawyers likely got involved and told Sony no and when the NWH deal happened, Vulture became a multiverse displaced character instead. But their goal clearly was to have these be set in the Holland universe, and thus MCU adjacent by association.

Which makes no sense to me because wouldnt this kind of legal crap have been sorted out BEFORE Sony greenlit these scripts and directors?

I think youre right though, i think the heads at Marvel Studios have had a hand in how these movies have been turning out. But you’d think all this would be sorted at the jump.

Just noticed this year was a better year in the domestic Top 10 for female-led or co-lead movies than last year (which included Barbie).

Ariana Debose posted about the Kraven premiere today. I forgot they suckered her into appearing in that ****.

She needs a better agent. Between Kraven, Argylle and that terrible food/horror movie she did on Amazon, she’s has a rough year. It makes me sad because she’s really talented.

It's shocking how off the mark they are with these every year. Last year they had an easy one with Deadpool & Wolverine as the most anticipated pick but ain't no way Cap 4 is more anticipated than Jurassicier World and Wicked: Folie a Deux.

Idk
Weren't there early set photos showing that poster of Tobey's Spider-Man in Morbius? So I think Sony doesn't really know what its gonna be. Marvel probably said "If you could change that Vulture thing we'd appreciate it" when they saw how much of a s***show that movie was turning out to be. Sony gets all the blame for the mess they've created imo

The poster was a screen grab of the Tobey costume from the PS4 game, so I take that as an editor grabbing a random photo. Early test screening reports had Toomes being Morbius's cellmate. He was supposed to escape during the prison riot. Some of this was later backed up from some of the earlier trailers.

Yes, but that wasn't cause they wanted to use Tobey Spider-Man or anything. It said murderer. That was more than likely a case of they couldn't use Spider-Man iconography that Tony Stark built. So they were referencing story points that were in their movies, but not anything from characters they don't own. Hence why the poster said murderer and Vulture and Morbius were clearly in same prison at one point. It's 1000% what they were doing initially.

More than likely they didn't have a new Sony Spider-Man costume that wasn't a Stark design or one Disney owned. So that was a place holder until they designed something else

Jesus, these Sony suits just destroy these movies in post, it seems.
That's the thing. They harm these movies out of the gate and then try to "fix" it in post. These movies are always going to be bad unless some force of nature talent is able to break through. Like Hardy and Venom.

Sony really carried the year with Last Dance and Madame Web.
In what terms?

Deadpool & Wolverine was the clear winner this year, lol! I love me my Venom, but Deadpool & Wolverine won at life and everything this year

And let's be real, without Tom Hardy, the Venom movies are more bad Sony movies no one likes, lol! Those movies only are liked cause of Tom Hardy.
