The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

Look at me, I'm Mike Flanagan. I make awesome movies, even better TV shows, I'm married to Kate Siegel, and I own the rights to the Dark Tower. Oh, you thought I was going to actually make it?

Hey, man. Screw off for reminding me of Hannah and her episode :weeping:

We can't let that atrocity that probably come to think of it was produced by Tom Rothman be Dark Tower's cinematic legacy!!!! We need the King Whisperer to do his thing! Preferably before I am dead lol

Reminds me of Ryan Murphy owning the rights to Funny Girl and never doing anything with it except to make Lea Michelle do decent Barbara Streisand covers. :o

I remember you specifically telling me you have not watched most of his output!
I've seen and loved several of his projects, just not all.

My not having seen Sugarland Express, Duel or Always doesn't mean I "don't watch Steven Spielberg's stuff!" :o

Furthermore, you crap on Netflix and talk about there is only like three things worth having it for. Not once, NOT ONCE, did you ever say a Flanagan joint.

A Batman-less Batman universe doesn’t appeal to me any more than a Spider-Man-less Spider-Man universe does. At least Penguin got some scenes with Batman in a movie though. These studios want to get away with not having to pay their superhero actors more for more appearances.

I mean, this isn't connected to that Batman, so there's no one to be getting out of paying here at this time. He's been circling Clayface for years now, this is clearly a project he's invested in and has something he wants to do with. This isn't Sony, DC has their characters, they aren't backed into a corner making Clayface movies out of desperation.

I think it will be great if he or one of his collaborators directs it. If they release it in theaters, it will be a flop unless it's a sub 50m project.

It's ironic that all the exciting projects, are ones that will most likely fail.

Which is why they need a surefire hit like a Hawkgirl movie, which will make $2 billion off me alone.

Wow those Kraven reviews are absolutely brutal, but I pretty much knew this movie was going to be a wash after seeing those awful trailers, so it isn't that surprising but man what a waste.

That character deserves so much better and ATJ deserves better but at least he's got Nosferatu coming out in the few weeks and 28 Years Later coming out next year which look to be bangers.

I also just realized the poor guy doesn't have a great track record when it comes to superhero movies though outside of Kick-Ass which at least got a sequel where he was able to come back.

Either way this just makes the success of The Penguin all the more satisfying because that show pretty much set the bar of what a well written, top-notch villain show can be in the right hands.

Hopefully, more studios can learn from it going forward.

While we're on the topic, I miss the heyday of movie trailers in the 2000s going into the 2010s. There are still some good ones every now and again but it felt like we were getting consistently better trailers back then regardless of the final product.
We used to be a real country and release trailers like this at a random Tuesday

*whispers nervously* I haven't seen the first two "28..." movies. :csad:

Sadly, 28 Days Later isn't streaming anywhere right now and old released are OOP. So it has gotten kind of obscure. Hopefully that gets fixed soon with the new one on the horizon. It is a shame cause I would rate it as one of my probably 5 favorite horror films. 28 Weeks Later is pretty good, but 28 Days Later is definitely better.
