The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

More detailed Kraven thoughts:

This MIGHT actually be my favorite SUMC movie. Now, my friends, do not misunderstand me, I am not calling this a good movie but I think it's the most entertaining of Sony's bunch. And there are some genuine good moments peppered in where you can tell that the people involved were trying to make a good movie. Unlike Madame Web where you could tell from frame one that no one gave a f***.

ATJ is fun as Kraven. The marketing tries to mislead you into thinking he becomes this evil villain at the end...he doesn't. He's very much a Punisher anti-hero with a heart of gold. He's badass and intimidating and has some genuinely funny moments of levity in the movie.

Ariana DeBose. Man. Not since Michelle Williams in the Venom movies have I seen an actress just wanna get the Hell out of the movie they're in. Some of her ADR is HORRENDOUSLY bad.

THE RHINO! My man Paul Giammati has been dethroned. This actor they got playing him camped it UP. He knew exactly what movie he was in and was the most enjoyable aspect of the film.

There's some shameless Spider-man references peppered out that are gonna make people either smile or groan.

Russell Crowe...all I could think was HE should have played Kraven 15 years ago in a Spider-man movie. But he's fine here as the heartless father Kraven and his brother with ulterior motives.

The action is bloody and fun but not AS violent as the trailers lead you to believe. Believe it or not the camera cuts away when things are about to get too gruesome. But it's fun, serviceable B-movie grind house action.

Overall, my kind of fun, bad B movie. The plot is whatever, and it takes itself too seriously but I genuinely think this is probably Sony's best of the 6 movies. ATJ is a good lead and it's a shame we won't ever see him in a GOOD movie going up against Tom Holland. But this is a fun movie to bring a group of friends to and just kick back and laugh with (or at).

Okay, I just saw Kraven....I thought on the pendulum of Morbius or Madame Web, this would lean more Morbius. This was def closer to Madame Web. Holy crap, this was crap, lol!!!! I mean, we all knew it. But it's....almost as funny bad as Madame Web, but in different ways.

Russell Crowe should have been Kraven. Even today, if he got in shape, this movie shows he would have owned the role. Kraven's father is more like you would expect Kraven to be. Johnson and everyone else is bad, except whoever played Rhino. That man is a national treasure. That man knew what movie he was in, and he was entertaining as hell. I don't blame Johnson per se. He is fine I guess for whoever this character they called Kraven was. He just isn't Kraven The Hunter.

Venom The Last Dance was best Sony movie of the year and Kraven is easily one of the worst movies of the year. But is it also hilarious? Yes

How would you rank Madame Web, Kraven, and Joker 2?

Yeah but she's an Oscar winner and got stuck doing bad blockbusters. She deserves more.
I think she'll be okay no matter what because nobody's looking at those movies and blaming her for their failures but I'm hoping Love Hurts is a bounce back. God, I hope that's good. I don't want Ke Huy Quan to fade into obscurity again.

You were beating that movie’s chances like it stole something and still went to go see it? LOL

That’s what Halle Berry has been saying since Monster’s Ball.

yeah but you had choices like The Order or Interstellar in IMAX.

There isn't an easy to get to IMAX out here anymore, so for me that's over an hour each way plus traffic. Not in that kind of mood lol

Oh, I'm 100% sure that I'll find enjoyment in Kraven, just as I did with Madame Web. Just not in theaters. :o
I have A List, so I am paying AMC regardless of if I go or not. It's honestly why I see a high percentage of movies I see that end up being terrible.

This is a movie best viewed at home with your favorite snacks and alcoholic beverages and like...a large group of friends ready to roast it MST3K style

One thing I gotta say, I hope Kraven's failure FINALLY stops this ludicrous trend in Hollywood of making comic book movies/shows where the title character BECOMES the title character in the final seconds of the movie. Seriously, Hollywood, cut that crap out. There is no excuse for it. The title character should be sporting their iconographic look by the beginning of act III the latest. Thats what people paid to see. Plenty of other movies have done it before and will again.

The instant they had trailers, I already knew they were doing this. I saw Madame Web!!!! And a lot of footage of Kraven not in that classic gear lol

Oh yeah, all that footage you see of ATJ in the Kraven vest in the trailers aint in the movie. Blatant false advertising just like the rest of these Sony movies.
That Snake Eyes movie did it too. It's like, a Hallmark of bad ill conceived Cinematic Universe movies

Can't say I'm shocked.

So first no Carnage with that delightfully awful red wig in Venom 2, now no ATJ with the Kraven vest? The only redeeming quality the movie had?

Look at me, I'm Mike Flanagan. I make awesome movies, even better TV shows, I'm married to Kate Siegel, and I own the rights to the Dark Tower. Oh, you thought I was going to actually make it?

The Dark Tower is a never gonna happen classic. I've accepted it's never to be.

I'm sure if the screenwriters were here they'd say something like, "but the movie's about him BECOMING Kraven and EARNING the vest!" or some nonsense like that. :eyeroll:
