The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

Do the impossible and find us a real actual mutant with superpowers to direct the movie and then this argument would work.
That doesn't mean the movies have to do it that way. With this mentality, no progress would ever be made and we wouldn't have Black Panther. Who also pre 2000s was largely written by white dudes, but the movie firmly embraced a more diverse path. And they got rewarded with Oscars and a BP Nomination

Get whoever you want to direct it. I don't really care.

But I think some people here just have weird ideas about just how "progressive" X-Men actually is. Mutants are not actually real, they are broad stand-ins for every discriminated group that is feared and hated, and most of the iconic characters are... white. So why would being white men disqualify the Russo's from directing an X-Men movie? X-Men has never been about black people specifically. And it still isn't.

It doesn't disqualify, but having a more modern perspective than the one when they were founded in the 60s. Try and attract a newer audience with something that will speak to a younger generation more. Such as what they did with Black Panther. Which made 1.5 billion and got serious Oscar noms by trying to make it fresh and diverse.

I think this is the current comics roster I could find? One Chinese American on the team! What a diverse cast!

Not shown, the real focus of Gail's book, the 4 new mutants, 3 non white, all 4 a stand in for some form of mental disability. But sure, go ahead, and bring up the relaunch that was unnecessary, lost a lot of good books and writers, just because the new editor was brought in to align with the MCU.

Also, created a core dynamic that was based on a lie on the relationship between MLK and Malcom X. Also important to point out, that the book didn't take off till they added more international characters.

So, in the interest of being fair, I read the full translated Muschietti quote and the online outlets definitely twisted his words way out of context.

When he was talking about “its a mental health situtation.” He wasnt talking about the general audience he was talking about Ezra. He goes into how Ezra had all these problems and how it tainted the release of the movie. Then regarding the “demographics,” he was saying that he was being told by the suits, you know those people whose jobs it is to study audience demographics and stuff that certain demos didnt go see the movie. He is being fed this stuff by the bean counters and admittedly probably ignorantly took their word for it.

But again, i do think context is important here in what he said.

I said it before and I'll say it again:

Feige should have a team of Black/POC creatives to handle MCU X-Men to really let it resonate. A white writer cannot bring to the table the same themes and sensibilities that a non-white writer can, that's just pure fact. X-Men 97 proved that and benefited from it.

But Feige is going to go the easy route. And it's all my fault for helping to make Deadpool & Wolverine a billion dollar smash.

My hope is that Feige and company hire quality creatives with proven track records to handle the X-Men reboot. Taking any consideration of said candidates, pigmentation, ethnicity, or sexual orientation in the hiring process would be extremely foolish.

Alessandro Nivola (who was in both movies)

That reminds me, there's a decent quality copy of Kraven floating around online.

The ending of the final Suicide Squad game dlc episode is out and… lol, lmao even.

Still, he got paycheques that none of us will see in our lifetime.

Hopefully I will still be paid well for writing pointless lines of code when I get near my retirement. :o
