The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

I think BOTH Bucky and Sam make for poor replacement Caps, personally. Idk, maybe it’s just my general bias against legacy characters outside of a few rare exceptions, but Steve Rogers was Cap because his story was epic and unique. The MCU even hammered home the notion that people had tried for 60 years to recreate the magic formula that created him and couldn’t do it because Steve himself was the magic ingredient.

And then all of a sudden it’s like, “actually, either of his best friends could do it. They’ve got skills!” Nah.

But then as mentioned, I’m just not a fan of superhero identities being mantles to be passed down, unless you’re a Lantern and it’s literally a job or something. But especially not for someone like Steve for whom the point of the story was “WHO YOU ARE is what makes you irreplicable.”

Bucky is Winter Soldier. Sam is Falcon. They can be their own leads with those identities imo.

Brubaker did the best he could after the **** sandwich he got from Millar, killing Cap after being lectured about social media.

Agreed.

The ONLY kind of legacy hero I can dig is if Bruce passes the cowl to Dick, but aside from that, like you said the Cap replacements never went well and that was the point. Poor Isaiah Bradley paid the ultimate price for that.

But who cares. Feige needs the money so Steve will be swinging that Shield in the MCU again soon. :o

I love all my Ghost Riders. Does the current Betsy and Kwannon situation count as legacy characters?

That’s a good question, but I think my love goes to Kwannonlocke.

Funny you mention Ghost Rider, I just bought a cool Johnny Blaze tee.

Bucky has the "I can fix him" appeal, though. :o

Sam has that "am I ready to take over" dilemma like Miles minus the adorkability. :o

This is off topic but I cant believe there are still people out there who think Bucky should have gotten the shield over Sam. I can't even imagine how cringe and awkward that final scene in Endgame would have been had Steve given the shield to Bucky with Sam, the guy who stood by him for four movies, standing right there. That would have narratively made no sense not mention the optics would have looked really bad.

"Bucky, I know you're still trying to recover from about 80 years of horrible violence, so here's my shield. Go fight bad guys."

I mean, both Sam and Bucky got the mantle in the comics, and neither one was a permanent change to the status quo. I don't think its going to be any more permanent in the MCU.

It doesn't help that both asses aren't as round as Chris's. :o

Both got cake, though.

Focusing on the important things as always.

It took me until this post to realize that you were talking about Chris Evans. Since my real first name is Chris and not Billy, I thought y’all was talking about me and my junk in the trunk.
Lily is definitely willing. Just need to provide her with images of the cake. :o
