The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

How on earth did they ever think they could release the movie back to back with Across the Spider Verse? Was a script even written when they made that announcement?!

Brave New World sounds like a potential Disney song. :hmm

So did the original title.

🎶A WHOLE NEW WORLD ORDER🎶

I think BOTH Bucky and Sam make for poor replacement Caps, personally. Idk, maybe it’s just my general bias against legacy characters outside of a few rare exceptions, but Steve Rogers was Cap because his story was epic and unique. The MCU even hammered home the notion that people had tried for 60 years to recreate the magic formula that created him and couldn’t do it because Steve himself was the magic ingredient.

And then all of a sudden it’s like, “actually, either of his best friends could do it. They’ve got skills!” Nah.

But then as mentioned, I’m just not a fan of superhero identities being mantles to be passed down, unless you’re a Lantern and it’s literally a job or something. But especially not for someone like Steve for whom the point of the story was “WHO YOU ARE is what makes you irreplicable.”

Bucky is Winter Soldier. Sam is Falcon. They can be their own leads with those identities imo.
I think this summarises it really well. I’m much more tolerant of legacy characters than most, but I like them to retain their original traits ie Falcon-Cap & WS-Cap for variety’s sake. Steve Rogers is the one and only true Cap, but once the true original retires or gets retired, to me it can then turn into an honorary ceremonial job for everyone who follows.

None will ever measure up, but they could still honour the past achievements and regard that the original was held in, but it’s only worth doing for me if they can each put a different spin on it linked with what they brought to their own alias beforehand.

This does give me some hope for Skeleton Crew, as Disney+ does seem to be focusing on YA content. It helps that Percy Jackson and Goosebumps apparently has been kicking Marvel and Star Wars' ass.

Poor Willow, though....

Answer: Sony

See, I'm beginning to believe that Lord and Miller are the problem. A lot of the problems seems to be tying back to the reasons they got fired from Solo. I don't think they have the organizational skills to head big projects.

I don’t think I’m familiar with Emily Beecham, but she looks so much like a young Jean Smart here it’s freaking me out.

Krumholtz is always a welcome addition to anything imo.

She's Cruella's adopted mom, so technically I think you've seen her. She's great. Has a lot of presence when given the chance. Which she got on Into the Badlands*. She's a redhead from Manchester, so I maybe biased.

*Badlands was basically a syndicated 90s show, done like a prestige series for AMC. Super fun overdramatic soap opera cheese, with amazing martial arts.

I knew Emily Beachum looked and sounded familiar, just didn't look far enough. Really, all you need to know about her...

God, I need to rewatch Into the Badlands.

I wasn't originally supposed to be working the night this comes out, but through some random twist of fate, I am now. I feel that is a sign from the great beyond trying to spare me.
