The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

Didn't watch, and probably won't. Ahsoka was where I checked out :o
You should give Skeleton Crew a chance. I was pretty burnt out from Star Wars myself after Mando S3 and The Acolyte (I didn't mind Ahsoka) but Skeleton Crew is just pure non-convoluted fun. It's basically an '80s Amblin movie set in the Star Wars universe. It's definitely one of the better Star Wars shows along with the first two seasons of Mandalorian and Andor.

I just can't muster up any enthusiasm for it at this point. Maybe if they do something Old Republic related I will check back in, but as it stands my Star Wars interest is probably at an all time low.

Levy is psy-op against me to get me to reassess Star Wars projects I thought were bad with "well at least they weren't Levy's movie." Maybe Acolyte wasn't that bad... Maybe Book of Boba Fett was pretty good.

Skeleton Crew is genuinely well made and a blast, a riff on classic 80s kids, adventure films in the vein of Spielberg and Amblin, while Andor is basically prestige HBO drama levels of production, acting and writing quality. The greatest compliments I can give to both of them is that they are great television series that just happen to take place in Star Wars, and not just great because they take place in Star Wars, they are pretty standalone, stand on their own, don’t require you to be a fan of the franchise, and you don’t need to have any previous knowledge of other Star Wars TV or films to enjoy either of them or know what’s going on.

I understand your frustration with the recent output, but you are doing yourself a disservice by not at least checking them out just because all of the other recent projects have not been up to snuff or have been letdowns. As someone who has been a lifelong Star Wars fan and has even been even critical of most of the recent Star Wars projects, even ones that I found a modicum of enjoyment in, give them a shot. They are precious jewels in a heap of mass produced, cheaply made zirconia.

Mando season 3, Ahsoka and The Acolyte these or not. If Star Wars was this level of quality pretty much all of the time, we would be spoiled rotten.

That's just where I am at with the IP. There is like, a million shows to watch and Star Wars just doesn't have my attention anymore

Life’s too short for unappealing, subpar, or ****ty TV. I’m more tolerant of wasting my time on bad movies because they are less time consuming.

I have no interest in Skeleton Crew because that whole "modern Amblin" vibe just ain't for me, but I won't write it off, either. Enough people whose taste I trust have said it's good for me to know it probably has some merit. I'll check it out eventually, it's just a matter of mustering up the motivation for something I don't have any enthusiasm for going into it. I never want to get to that point of completely writing off projects that are by all accounts genuinely good just because of the IP they belong to. That will be a depressing day for me.

Leave old man @Spider-Fan alone. He's set in his ways. Animation bad. Marvel good. DC meh. :o

And yet Caped Crusader still sits on your recommended on Prime. :o
And I appreciate the reminder lol!!!! I will have to watch it. But truth be told, I don't get much "me time" and that's not a show the wife has interest in. Usually I have to watch something for both of us or I am watching kids movies/shows all day with the kiddos lol. So not so much a lack of desire on this one

Aside from a really good Catwoman episode and one other thing that slipped my mind, he’s not missing much. :sneeze:

Kiddos like Spider-Man, so I will maybe give it a shot one day when I am watching them. But my interest is mild

Aww. Raising them right Spider.

Indeed, lol! They love that Nick Jr Spidey and His Amazing Friends show. One of the shows they frequently request watching.

PJ Mask, Paw Patrol, and Bubble Guppies. :o
They absolutely love Paw Patrol, lol!!!! I think I have like...3 or 4 complete sets of the core Paw Patrol as well as many of the side ones that only appear occasionally. I also know way more Paw Patrol lore than I ever anticipated that I would lol

I started rewatching season 1 of Daredevil, and for the first couple of episodes, I was kind of wondering whether the TV landscape had just changed so much during the last decade or why it didn't feel as special as it did back in the day. Well, episode 3, it's back to the groove that I remembered. So good. I never saw season 3 or any of the other shows beyond season 1 of Jessica Jones, so there's a ton of interesting stuff ahead.
Season 3 will be well worth the wait! I like Punisher season 1 and Luke Cage season 1 but otherwise all 3 seasons of Daredevil and season 1 of JJ are the peak of the Netflix shows for me. It was nice to see the characters together in Defenders but that show should have been a much bigger and better event.

I had very little interest in Defenders, Iron Fist, etc. back in the day. I think I've figured out why. Yesterday, watching episode 3, I genuinely forgot I was watching a superhero show. It was actually jarring having this masked man suddenly invading my quality legal drama :funny: The action isn't bad at all, but I've never been a huge fan of brawling type of fight scenes, unless they're as wild as something like The Raid. Defenders seems almost too ambitious for what these shows excel at.

Marvel now has introduced the actual Defenders into the MCU only for Namor's actor to get into hot water.
