The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

Marvel now has introduced the actual Defenders into the MCU only for Namor's actor to get into hot water.
Yeah, and I love the characters that make up the various versions of that team of Defenders in the comics. Marvel need a solid vetting process as it’s destabilising introducing characters who then need to be quickly recast.

I had very little interest in Defenders, Iron Fist, etc. back in the day. I think I've figured out why. Yesterday, watching episode 3, I genuinely forgot I was watching a superhero show. It was actually jarring having this masked man suddenly invading my quality legal drama :funny: The action isn't bad at all, but I've never been a huge fan of brawling type of fight scenes, unless they're as wild as something like The Raid. Defenders seems almost too ambitious for what these shows excel at.
Defenders was actually not ambitious at all haha, but I get what you mean. It also loses some of what make Daredevil feel special, just by the nature of the concept.

Honestly Defenders was worth it solely for the Matt/Jessica interactions for me. I came away from it really just wanting a show starring those two because they were gold together. The rest of the show not so much.

We don't need a Defenders movie IMO. I was always on team just put Hulk and Namor in Doctor Strange 3 and make a homage to it there. Pre Namor actor allegations, obviously

Matt/Jessica, the supporting cast of the Netflix MCU interacting with each other, Sigourney, Elektra....

Was Defenders REEEEEEAAAAALLLLLLYYY that bad in hindsight?
I thought Defenders was underwhelming but nowhere near the lowest lows of Marvel Netflix like Iron Fist S1 or Jessica Jones S2. It was fun seeing them interact with each other but what it built up to was meh.

Its a shame he's Reed now, because Pedro could've been a Fantastic Namor
If Pedro was Namor, everyone would be cheering on Sue to leave Reed for him. :o

Would you think less of me if I told you I still have to finish Jessica Jones S2 and the Punisher eventually? They were just so BORING.

Shame too because I remember JJ filming at Rye Playland for an episode. I used to go there all the time as a kid.

And Marvel has to dig deep to find someone credible enough to have a Sue/Reed/Namor love triangle because Papi Pedro never misses. :sneeze:

I don't think we talk enough about how bad Jessica Jones S3 was even though people love to dunk on Iron Fist.
Jessica Jones S3 can go right in the trash with them. I thought Iron Fist S2 was enough of a course correction to make it tolerable at the very least but S1 is still pretty bad. The only reason it was even worth watching at all was for Jessica Henwick.

...there was a JJ S3?

But nah Iron Fist deserves to get dunked on. Danny Rand was SOOO punchable, the only people that made that show tolerable were Colleen Wing and Tom Pelphrey's character.

It's funny because when Tom Pelphrey showed up in Ozark I was like "Aw man, not this guy" but it turns out the guy's a great actor. Iron Fist S1 just did him dirty.

Drizzy I SO forgot about that.

But yeah man Pelphrey has always been a good actor. You know I love daytime soaps, he was on The Guiding Light for years and you could tell he had 'it'.

Speaking of trash and putting to sleep, why don't we ever wax poetic about Moon Knight Season 1? :sneeze:
The way that show ended felt like a fever dream, the really weird kind when you've taken too much NyQuil.

Also it was responsible for this damned song getting stuck in my head for a lot of the first half of 2022:

What kinda name is Englebert Humperdinck anyway? :o

Moon Knight had some good elements to it, mainly Oscar's performance and the costume
but that he never got to show off his fight training is criminal:
