The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

I think it should be obvious after the Baldoni stuff to realize what was going on before hand.

Also, I look at what Reynolds and Levy turned in, and really, I don't think anything Nia had was as bad as that.

Why do you think the movie she delivered to them was necessarily this great and perfect all time classic? For all we know her directors cut was a clunker that didn't work and they were trying to save it with their edits (not that they succeeded). Unless we can get our hands on her original cut, we will never know.
I believe that if you hire a creative of DeCosta's quality you trust their vision. Especially when they've made measurably better films then any from the Marvel assembly line. If they fail, let them fail on their own merit. But chopping something to death is always doomed to lessen the work. That the film didn't completely collapse, is a testament to the chemistry and quality of those actually on set. Every part of that movie that works is so antithetical to the MCU's usual shtick, I'm confident in what she made being better. Especially as shades of it can be seen and then wasted in what was eventually delivered. Never seen a sign of her doing that in her other work. A common issue with Marvel.

I'm also wise to how Hollywood treats any woman of color who speaks their mind, especially a black woman.

Chloe Zhao over there with the Eternals. :o

Fail on your own merits. There is plenty of irony in Eternals being the movie that should've been a series, while all but maybe two of their shows so far were clearly stretched out flicks.

Eternals I feel was an issue with the "Marvel Method", where they had already started work on the Deviant action scenes, and by god, they were going to keep them in. Zhao did the best she could working around that.

Youtube decided to remind me of She-Hulk. Which, mostly great. But then I got a clip that caused flashbacks to the fall...

Just the South African Nazi jumping around.

It's blatantly obvious it was chopped to pieces, tbh. Studio meddling has never been more transparent in an MCU product than in that film. The actual directing of what we got is fantastic, both with the dynamics of the actors AND the action. Just like DaCosta's previous work. Ergo, DaCosta being capable of delivering a better project than we got is an extremely easy conclusion to draw.

Speaking of black creatives, today I learned that the headwriter of the upcoming Friendly Neighborhood Spidey, is a black creative:

You can say a lot of things about Marvel Studios, but I really do appreciate the fact that they do bring these different, non-white creatives onboard in some type of major capacity.

Inclusivity is always a great thing. Despite what the demon in the Oval Office says. :sneeze:

Gonna be honest, I’m actually really looking forward to this!

I’m not a fan of the “How hard is it to write a movie about killing vampires?!” refrain around Blade, because writing movies IS hard (see: Blade Trinity), but why in God’s name would you overcomplicate something as simple as “Rhodey must stop bad guys from using his dead friend’s tech” by bringing aliens into it?

Finished Doom Patrol... Gracie from The Nanny getting together with Kay was not how I envisioned her arc would end. :o

Reason #49581294842 why X-Men shouldn't have a white headwriter.

Motendo > Jubilee's entire Foxverse appearances
'97 definitely proved that having a diverse team has numerous advantages for writing and directing X-Men. I'd like a similar approach for the live-action film, sans the horrible man.
