The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

Do we reeeeeeeeaally need a Clayface movie? Especially so soon after the Academy Award nominated splendiferoussness that was The Substance?

Unless it's part of the Reevesverse, it'll just feel awfully derivative.

Yikes. Wadlow is actively terrible. My hype for this one would go down the drain if that happened. Watkins is infinitely better. This should be a no-brainer, and the fact that it’s not is deeply concerning lol.

Deadline reported this:

We hear that DC brass will be hearing pitches from potential filmmakers next week, with some of the key candidates being Truth or Dare‘s Jeff Waldow and Speak No Evil‘s James Watkins.

Wonder what other directors are in the mix?

No Wadlow or I’m boycotting! :o

Clayface and Sgt Rock we don’t need. I dont think we really need a supergirl movie but it’s a weird choice of movies that I don’t think will capitalize on Superman’s eventual success. A Justice Society, Green Lantern(movie not tv show) should have followed

Supergirl is in my def need category. :cold:

I get that if Superman does explode, you don’t want the hype to drain away with too many unrelated projects which may or may not succeed to a similar extent.

Just got through watching BNW and man I haven't been this disappointed with a MCU film since Love and Thunder and Wakanda Forever.

As someone who really enjoyed the trailers and was pretty positive on it from Day 1 I see now why it went through production hell and why Marvel/ Disney pretty much spoiled this thing to death in the marketing campaign.

It's a complete mess of a film IMO and outside some of the action scenes which didn't really stand out besides the Red Hulk fight I wasn't as entertained by it as I thought I would be.

Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford did the best they could with what they were given and I didn't mind the actor they got for Falcon but man what a waste of potential this was for everyone involved.

Giancarlo Esposito was super wasted here too and don't even get me started on the main villain. Oh well I'm still looking forward to Thunderbolts and F4 which are hopefully much better.

It's a 5/10 for me and easily the worst out of all the previous MCU Captain America films.

Was this as good as the Steve trilogy? No. But this movie was decent. Obvious reshoots and such are present here. But it's a serviceable MCU film. Nowhere near Quantumania quality
I thought it was mediocre at best but for sure, it wasn't a disaster like Quantumania. To me it felt like a Disney+ Marvel show condensed to a two hour movie, which is neither a compliment nor a complaint. I actually thought the first half was pretty solid but it got a little sloppier afterwards. I was kind of shocked to see that Ford actually turned in a decent performance here. I'll also say that this made me appreciate Sam as a character more since this was the first time he's really had the spotlight on his own.

Spoilers: As I suspected, making a Captain America movie act as a sequel to The Incredible Hulk is very distracting. I know that there have been multiple occasions in the MCU solo movies where people would ask "Where's Iron Man? Where's Thor?" etc. but in this particular case Bruce Banner not showing up at all is borderline inexcusable. Oh well, if the lazy as hell post-credits scene is anything to go by he'll probably cross paths with Leader in Secret Wars.

I think a 3 out of 5 is fair for this. I do feel like it was shortened, but by the same token, I will watch this over Falcon and the Winter Soldier any day.

And yes, but having Banner here does suck. But I am at the same time going to judge the movie for what it is, but what it isn't.

Well now I'd say the movie’s worst crime is prompting people to refer to the previous films as “The Steve Trilogy.” :o
The Falcon Cap era is an entirely different thing to me, so we gotta differentiate the 2 eras somehow, and Cap trilogy would be confusing since they're still using that branding. If anyone has a better trilogy moniker, I am willing to hear it. But it was best I got lol

The post credits scene is very much a nothing burger. Less than nothing lol
My least favorite MCU post-credit scenes have always been the ones where it's just a scene from a future movie that was copied and pasted as a tease (like the Civil War scene in Ant-Man or the Ragnarok scene in Doctor Strange), not because they were bad but it's just kind of a lazy way of not having to shoot a new scene. The one in Brave New World was not only a new scene but it somehow felt even lazier than just copy and pasting a scene from a future movie. :o

It's just so vague, lol! All the Leader does is say "Multiverse crap is coming!" So I guess good Sam is now alerted, and he does say they're coming. Which could have referred to the Council of Kangs in its prior incarnation. But now I think this is a vague reference to Doom's probably multiverse Dark Avengers

Which kind of makes it hilarious if that's Sam's first time finding out about the Multiverse but you would think that Strange could actually make contact with everyone to give them a heads up, lol

That one really went out with a bang.
They really righted the ship, I tell ya. :o

Honestly, instead of doing a fourth Cap film, they should have combined Secret Invasion and the Cap 4 plot with the Celestial sticking out of the Indian ocean being mined for Adamantium and Ross wanting Sam to reform The Avengers. The invading Skrulls, pissed off that Fury isn't helping them find a new planet, wants to start WWIII so they can get the resources from the Celestial themselves and take over earth.
