The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

His suit wasn’t on his head. Guy wasn’t even wearing a helmet most of the time. Hawkeye and Widow took beatings for the most part from people they should be able to take hits from. And the one time Natasha caught a stray backhand from Hulk, the movie made a point of having her in shock from it, because she knew it was almost death. It was DEFINITELY far more egregious here than it has ever been in any MCU flick I’ve seen.

And for the record, not to get into semantics, but Batman also slowed their fall at the last minute with the half of his cape he was able to activate. Whether or not you believe it, the point is those movies at least tried to address/explain those moments, while this one didn’t even bother.

I get your point, I just don't give much credit when someone tries to explain something without making any sense.

With CBM’s I just need them to try. Just include something that says “yeah this occurred to us.”That’s it! Low bar, but that’s what it is.

I can get that. To me it the scale of how far from grounded it is plays a significant part in how easily I look past things, but even when it's not grounded at all there can be issues. I love Infintiy War but since Thanos easily overpowers the vibranium suit of Black Panther (who's easily on super soldier level without the suit) and knocks him out with a single punch that's pretty much death (or at least extreme injury) for Cap when he gets the same, but one just has to go with it.

The easy solution would've been to bring Hulk and She-Hulk into the mix if they were dead-set on this The Incredible Hulk 2 starring Sam Wilson approach. The movie would've felt more like an event, She-Hulk would've gotten some badly needed screentime, and those two could've handled the physical side with Red Hulk, making the final battle a lot more exciting. It could've played a bit like the Trinity fight from BvS, with Cap taking Batman's gadget approach and ultimately delivering the final blow similarly to how it went down in the film anyway.
10/10 if they’d added She-Hulk!
The movie kind of skirts by in the first half but after that the absence of Bruce and by association She-Hulk is blatantly noticeable. Like, you can explain why Steve doesn't call Tony for help in The Winter Soldier. There's really no excuse as to why Sam couldn't call Bruce once he found out Sterns was involved.

What about this guy...

Guys I know not a soul asked me, but I had to let it be known before I start my debauchery: I thought Cap 4 was mid as hell. Not the enjoyable clusterf*** I thought it would be.

Without posting spoilers, these writers really put a bad taste in my mouth regarding Sam and how adamant he is about assimilating and trying to make a sympathetic villain out of Thunderbolt Ross. The fact that they released this in Black History Month was a choice.

@Kane52630 that review you posted from that brotha on Letterbox was accurate af. But no me gusta. Seeing the Fantastic Four teaser in imax 3D damn near made me cry though.

And happy Valentine’s Day yall!

Literally Jack Bauer took more of a stand against a corrupt president than Sam Wilson. Yes, Mr. Post-9/11 ‘Murica Propaganda himself, Jack Bauer!

The more I think about it, the more impressed with Carl Lumbly I am. He looked great, and he's just so freaking likable. I wish we could've spent all the time wasted with Captain Israel instead with him. Isaiah Bradley and Sam on the run together... That could've been something.

Sam is definitely not your anti-establishment Captain America lol

It was actually funny how they did "hold for applause" breaks for Bucky and Betty. My theater was packed and everyone was dead silent. :o

Drizzy, that’s another the thing, the jokes and “hold for applauses” didn’t do a damn thing for my theater because it looked like this:

This ain’t the same packed crowd I saw Deadpool & Wolverine with. :sneeze:

Not applause but people gasped when Bucky showed up. I would gasp for Betty and Leader but I already knew they were in it.

Spider I wish you could’ve seen the Fantastic Four trailer in my viewing. Ben and Galactus looked soooo cool.

Definitely have to see it in Fantastivision this summer lol.
Not gonna lie, I had feelings seeing the FF on a big screen lol

I haven't seen the movie yet, but Cap 4 just feels like a "villain of the week" filler episode of an old school TV show where the hero is caught up in someone else's drama and trying to help them fix their **** because they are "the good guy", but they have no real personal stake in things, because the showrunner needed to put an episode out to fill the episode order but didn't have a great idea or a story in mind.
