The Superhero Cinematic Civil War: The SUMC Was In The Amazon With My Mom Studying Spiders Right Before It Died - Part 61

Here’s the thing that hurts my suspension of disbelief in Captain America Brave New World and it’s not that the President turns into a giant red colored rage monster:

It’s that the President is willing to take responsibility for his actions, and actually goes to jail. :funny:

The more I see people's reactions and thoughts on Brave New World, the more I get mad at Kevin Feige the various writers and director for allowing this mess.

Like Harrison Ford's character talked SOOOOO reckless to Sam and he just ate the microaggressions.

Again, Ryan Coogler would never.
Probably because Coogler was too busy being racist to the Hispanics :o

There was a funeral that was deleted from the movie, that looked like a military funeral, with Liv Tyler being present in the scene. Maybe Ross was supposed to die originally, and they reshot it?

Was Marvel scared of people comparing Namor and MCU Atlantis to the Aquaman movies with their crazy tech?

That is probably why it isn't called Atlantis.

I understand the thematic parallels that Coogler was aiming for. But the execution was... lacking.

There's no doubt in my mind that Brave New World was going to be a poorly thought-out nightmare regardless if they stuck to their original plan, but it does kind of make me chuckle that the two best sequences of the film are some of the few remaining that were pre all the reshoots.

What an awfully timed corporate pile of nothing of a film.

What was the original idea, though? 🤔

Probably something very similar, just more politically/racially charged. Which since it's Feige, wasn't done well and was problematic so they toned as much as they could down without throwing the whole thing out.

Which, I guess worked out? I mean it's bad. But in generic nothing blockbuster way like Ant-Man and The Wasp as opposed to a really bad disaster.

So I've been reading the Epic Collection of the OG Fantastic Four issues and I got to the first appearance of The Skrulls and they were beaten in the weirdest manner.

Oh, I had no recollection that Hope was played by Starlight herself in Jessica Jones. In general the supporting cast is less interesting than Daredevil's, but Krysten Ritter is such a powerhouse in the leading role that it's impossible not to love the show. I've only seen one episode of Luke Cage, so I'm looking forward to watching that after I'm done with this and Daredevil season 2. Mike Colter is very good in the role, but the character doesn't seem like a lead, so it'll be interesting to see how it works out.

Yeah Daredevil is a fair way out in front of the rest, but Ritter is a huge addition to the shows - and I need to see more of her as the character (especially interacting with Matt). Erin Moriarty went on to bigger and better things.

Oh god, I just saw a clip someone uploaded of The Leader. What the ever loving hell were they thinking. The concept I saw looked so much better....
I laughed at the concept art for Leader looking kind of like Ryan Gosling for some reason. It's like they saw my comment and were like, "You know what? NOW we're going to make it look actually terrible because of your sass!"

It's on YouTube and my God. 😱

I loved the glowing eyes, but then again, that was before we could actually see him...
