The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread* - Part 61

Now that you guys reminded me, I was also wondering why Sam was being so protective of Ross. Like dude, you hate each other.

Though I will say, ending the movie with the President behind bars was a nice touch. :o

I haven't seen the movie yet, but Cap 4 just feels like a "villain of the week" filler episode of an old school TV show where the hero is caught up in someone else's drama and trying to help them fix their **** because they are "the good guy", but they have no real personal stake in things, because the showrunner needed to put an episode out to fill the episode order but didn't have a great idea or a story in mind.
The Agents of Shield episode with Lorelei and Sif, yes.

Sam is definitely not your anti-establishment Captain America lol

Those all have “magic handwave” explanations though - Batman with his “we created a whole scene just to talk about how amazing this body armor is” to Tony’s internal shock-absorbing suit of armor. This doesn’t even bother trying with any of that. Sam’s just a dude, with no real armor even, who takes some untake-able hits. Low in the list of issues I have with the movie to be sure, but a clear symptom of the laziness at the root of a lot of them.
Isn’t the armor from Wakanda, though?

And Flick you are so mean.

You knew Betty was onscreen for 30 seconds and was teasing me LOL.
Those 30 seconds were satisfying to you?! We already knew she was in the movie, that was confirmed, I just thought you were expecting her to actually get something to do! I was not teasing lol.

30 seconds including the scene where you only hear her on the phone? :o

Really feeling cheated we missed that whole campaign trail.
What cracks me up is I thought Bucky just wanted to retire and live a simple life so this seems out of left field. Though I suppose Congress and by extension the rest of the branches of the government in the MCU are far less chaotic than in our universe, President Red Hulk and all.

I hear you.

Yet and still I hope we get President Bucky, but I doubt we will. With the X-Men coming we’re definitely getting President Robert Kelly soon.

Gonna need Marvel to invest more in animation, as Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is actually pretty damn good so far.

Speaking of, is it just me or does it feel like we've seen way more MCU Presidents than there actually are? After 35 movies and like 20 shows I think there have only been three Presidents shown: Ross, the one in Iron Man 3, and Dermot Mulroney in Secret Invasion (who I completely forgot about, lol).

I'm pretty sure we've seen more Presidents in the X-Men movies. Including fan favorite Dick Nixon! :awesome:

The MCU represents a universe where America's presence as a global superpower is tied to the literal superpowers and so the role of government has been reduced socially in favour of Iron Man shooting terrorists with laser beams which is why the president is a footnote. :o
