The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread* - Part 61

So Doom's plan is to merge the multiverse into one universe where he's supreme ruler?

What I think is happening is that taking Kang off the board in Loki season 2 has created a power vacuum, so the multiversal wars are kicking back up and its chaos.

People who weren't announced today but I'm fairly sure will be in it, at least as cameos at minimum:

Tom Holland - Spider-Man is their most popular hero. No way they sideline him for an entire Avengers movie.

Benedict Cumberbatch - I have a hard time believing that they'd not include him in Doomsday considering his was the most successful post-Endgame MCU movie after No Way Home and Deadpool & Wolverine.

Brie Larson - Regardless of The Marvels' box office performance, she's still one of the major heroes in the MCU so I would expect at least a cameo.

Mark Ruffalo - It would seem weird for them to lay out breadcrumbs for a future Avengers movie in Shang-Chi for him to not be in it.

Benedict Wong - Ditto.

Teyonah Parris- I'm going to have to assume that she'll be involved due to the X-Men connection from the
post-credits scene in The Marvels

Lashana Lynch - Ditto.

Samuel L. Jackson - He's been in every Avengers movie in some capacity. I don't see that stopping now.

Hugh Jackman - At least as a cameo with a bigger role in Secret Wars.

Halle Berry - Weird to have the original X-Men team without her.

Famke Janssen - Ditto, as long as she's still interested.

Owen Wilson - Just because of the Loki connection. I'm assuming there'll be some TVA involvement.

I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting but I also find it odd that none of the Disney+ characters were announced. I have to imagine that between Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, Kate, and She-Hulk we'll be seeing at least one of them pop up here. Kamala's the likeliest since she was the MCU's first "official" mutant.

If this is just the Doomsday cast, there is a possibility they are keeping characters like Tom Holland Spider-Man or Hugh Jackman's Wolverine on the backburner until Secret Wars. Even with a three hour runtime, there is only so much screen time to go around. I imagine there are members of this cast who aren't making it to Secret Wars.

Actually, I’m wondering if Holland will be in Doomsday at all now. Because think about it; they havr to re-establish and re-orient Spidey’s status quo a bit after the end of NWH. I dont think Doomsday is the movie to do it, theres no space for it. SPIDERMAN 4 will reestablish Peter’s status quo and then we’ll see him again in Secret War.

I agree this is a Infinity War - Endgame situation. Doomsday will focus on the one half of heroes, who will fail, the other half have their time to shine in Secret Wars.

On the FF front also, another question I would propose in regard to getting them into the MCU in their own movie is to what end? Doomsday comes almost right after their movie, so it isn't like the FF are gonna interact with or be mentioned in other movies before Doomsday, and there will be multiverse hopping I am sure. So is there really a point to rushing them into the MCU, especially when Secret Wars is sort of designed to reboot the timeline already and possibly add the X-Men moving forward?

I dont see any real benefit to making that move in their movie

Looking forward to seeing Namor meeting Sue Storm lol

Alright Marvel, Disney, Feige and Iger, now you have my attention. Well played.

I'm intrigued by the potential teams here.

Avengers:
Sam Wilson/Captain America
Ant-Man
Shang-Chi
Black Panther
Falcon
and perhaps Sentry (the team's powerhouse this time, replacing Hulk and Vision)

Thunderbolts:
Bucky
Yelena
US Agent
Red Guardian
Ghost

X-Men:
Cyclops
Gambit
Nightcrawler
Beast
Mystique
Magneto
Prof X.

Fantastic Four:
Mr. Fantastic
Sue
Johnny
Thing

Asgardians:
Thor
Loki

King of Wakanda: M'Baku

King of Atlantis/Talokan: Namor

King of Latveria: Dr Doom

There is enough good here to work with.

You have Secret Wars to do that. Thay doesn't need to be done in their movie

Think of it this way: you introduce a new wrestler. You want this character to succeed. Does having that wrestler lose their first match make sense, or does handing then a victory over a mid carder make more sense?
I get your point, but either way, I’m still counting on the F4 landing in the sacred timeline by the end of movie. They can be victorious in the first film and still somehow land in the sacred timeline somehow. Maybe Doom pulls them in to the sacred timeline in a mid-credit sequence.

Though actually Spider-Fan, there was a rumor that:
The F4 are actually from the sacred timeline and they’re trying get back to the main timeline. Which would track since we do see Reed having those multiversal chalkboards, maybe the F4 are trying get to the main universe throughout the film?

Oh just saw this

Sources say that even with 26 actors announced, Marvel wasn’t done with revealing the entire cast, although when and how another unveiling would occur was unclear.

The big takeaway is the movie is going to be a lot more Xmen intensive than i think we all believed.

I was prepared to skip this but the X-men additions are breaking my will, ie Hugh Jackman being in DvW.

Eh, Reed seems to me like the type who loves science and would look into those kinds of theories and such anyway. I think it males more sense to have Doom or whoever pull them out of their timeline at the beginning of Doomsday and make that an awesome high stakes opening than doing it in a movie that maybe makes them look like jobbers
