I will be designing the trophies again though I may make some minor or major changes to the templates.

I'd appreciate it.

Also, since I'm the dude that will be counting the votes and such, I won't take part in nominations or voting to keep things fair.

Nice. I've been wanting these to come back for quite some time now.

Look for my nominations very soon-ish.

Subscribed - Noms coming soon.

Or...you could just become a Philly fan. :o

Since I haven't quite narrowed down my IC award nominations, I'll just go ahead and save those for later. For now, though...

OOC Awards

Overall MVP (in all categories): Byrd Man
What more can you say? I was actually tempted to nominate The Byrded One for the majority of these categories, because outside of being a great and regularly contributing writer, he's one of the most central members of our little community. I daresay that there isn't a single person in the boards that doesn't get along with him, or at least know of his reputation well enough to distinguish his insults as more of an honor than a putdown. Byrd was the sole reason behind some of my best moments as a writer of the past year, and he similarly inspires others to keep the spirit of the games alive. For that, I believe he deserves this nomination with flying colors.

MVP (in Marvel): bkhedr
I nominate bk solely for the fact that in all seasons of the main Marvel RPG, both in the reboot and it's previous incarnation, there has not been a more regular player with a clear presence within both the IC and OOC threads. While we've never worked together, I've read his stuff, and I dig it. He has a clear love and understanding of the Marvel Universe, evidenced more than once in his stellar runs as both Thor and Captain America. He's even branched out to the other big Marvel game, All-Star, to lend a hand and establish the first major PC villain of that continuity. Without bk, I doubt many would care as much about the state of Marvel's currently low activity.

MVP (in DC): Byrd Man
Damn you. You had to make this inescapable. :cmad: I was seriously trying to figure out other people to nominate in this category, continually sidestepping any posts of Byrd's to bring light on someone else, but it's just impossible to not acknowledge Byrd's major contribution to all things DC. As World Of Heroes' current, and probably last Gamemaster before the game reboots, he's kicked each and every one of his players firmly in the ass and made sure that, even in the game's lowest points, it marched onto a satisfying conclusion amidst what many would agree to be a chaotic arc. He's practically the brains behind Ultimate DC aswell, as I tend to discuss every aspect of the game with him in deep detail. Byrd's my guy, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with the keys to the boards' longest-running RPG.

MVP (in Misc): wiegeabo
For the same reason I nominated bk and Byrd, I nominate wieg. There is no game in the Misc. RPG's section that hasn't seen his touch, and as a longtime contributor to the forums, he's only gotten better with experience. One of my biggest regrets in my history as a mod was leaving "From The Pages Of..." in such poor shape, but it was wieg that took up the torch I had tossed the side and lit a flame that kept the game running months after my departure. True, it may be gone now, but you can tell that wieg's passion may yet bring it back from the depths and reinvigorate the concept in the future. Where his skills as a contributor shine the most, however, is One Universe - both as a GM, and as the consistently great writer behind The Dark Knight himself. For his years of service both behind the scenes and in the midst of the games, wieg has earned himself a guaranteed spot in the RPG Hall of Fame.

RPG Lifetime Achievement Award: Keyser Soze
For my money, when you think of great writers, Keyser Soze is the immediate source to cite. Much like The Godfather or Jaws or Empire is considered the best of the best of cinema, Soze's posts in any of the games he's played over the years are an absolute joy to read. From his darkest moments as The Joker to his most heroic as Hal Jordan, which in itself was laced with darkness throughout, Keyser is the standard of which I hold myself in terms of content quality, content quantity, and story formatting/editing. He's the Scorcese of the games, rarely if ever able to disappoint his readers with a supremely engaging take on a character some may know pretty well beforehand. I've often thought about a few of his given posts long after I've read them, much akin to any good graphic novel, and it's something that makes it very clear to me that Soze is a talent we're incredibly lucky to have here, with us, instead of earning his credentials alongside the professionals.

Beyond that, he's one of the most levelheaded players to have graced us. Always courteous and fair to others, even when he doesn't get along with another player - a rare occurrence for which you could count on one hand. Even when the day comes that Keyser has moved on and away from us, his legacy will be that of a flipping fantastic writer and an all-around great guy.

RPG of the Year: The New Ultimate DC RPG
This is by no means a case of me tooting my own horn. An RPG is nothing without it's players, and given the interchangeable nature of the games, the success of this one had virtually nothing to do with me. But I daresay that the New Ultimate DC RPG has shamed the original Ultimate DC Universe RPG in every conceivable way imaginable. Never once did I feel like we were trying to remake the DC Universe into a new and exciting place - I always felt that we actually had done so, every time I read a post of this past first season. Everyone had a great idea, some more drastic than others, and it all culminated into a fun and livid roleplaying experience that reminded me of why I love the games in the first place. And there are still complaints to be had, what with the heavy emphasis on Gotham City's characters, aswell as the midway lag in the arc that eventually gave birth to the Ultimate Justice League, but I stand by every decision that I've made with that game. This was the RPG I had envisioned when the original was pitched, and because of a great batch of players, it finally became a reality.

Best Game Master Award: Byrd Man
For my reasons above, I'll simply say that no GM is quite as effective as Byrd. And there'll probably be few who will be in the future.

Breakout Player of the Year: Syn (Mercenary)
When he came to the games as a newbie wanting to play Brainiac in World of Heroes, I don't think anyone expected much. But like many, Syn has evolved into an astoundingly different writer than in his humble beginnings. What's most surprising is just how good he's actually gotten in the past few years, going off of huge character runs in the ill-fated Ultimate Marvel RPG and transferring his skills to the DC Universe, both as Rose Wilson in World of Heroes and his much-appraised characters in New Ultimate. The level of detail in which he breaks down each character's often ravaged psyche is fascinating, often making my biggest and most detailed posts look like scribblings. One of my favorite people to work with and bounce ideas off of, Syn has become a great friend and an even better writer.

Most Improved Player: Catman_prb
Not that Cats was ever particularly bad at writing, but this year... just, damn. He spiked it up to a tenfold between runs with Lex Luthor in One Universe, Tim Drake in World of Heroes, and Jim Gordon in Ultimate. A writer who's dabbled in a bit of everything, whether it be science-fiction weirdness or hardboiled detective crime drama, even going for a few mind**** arcs that left me speechless, Cats' writing is a valuable resource of entertainment to be had in these games. Feel free to second this notion. :cwink:

Best Newcomer: Bounce
If you've played the DC games in the past year, you've become familiar with him. As Damian Wayne in World of Heroes and Lor-Zod in Ultimate, Bounce has turned two completely drastic problem children of the DCU into interesting, fully-fledged characters on a level that most newcomers don't necessarily give us. So much so that his version of Damian has better earned the mantle of Robin than Grant Morrison's comic book counterpart, and his version of Lor-Zod even managed to be on the initial roster of The Justice League. Under any other player's watch, I probably would have cried foul, but Bounce legitimizes both character arcs with his already stellar body of work. I look forward to his future offerings.

Thanks for the props, MB. It really means a lot coming from you.

Oh, ****, I forgot to put it in my first post. But Soze isn't eligible for the lifetime achievement award since he won it once already, he and twy split the award back in '07.

OOC Awards

Overall MVP (in all catagories): Byrd Man

This one is just kind of a given these days, as you seemingly can't turn around without finding Byrd heavily involved in another RPG. DC, UDC, All-Star, there's no escaping him!

MVP (in Marvel): bkhedr

Backing up MB's reasons for nomination, bk has been the backbone of the Marvel RPG, and was a huge help in keeping All-Star afloat by giving us our first major villain. He's one of those guys who genuinely puts a lot of work into his characters and how they act, and it shows. Without bk, I'm fairly certain the Marvel games would have gone under quite a while ago.

MVP (in DC): Byrd Man

Again, there's no escaping the clutches of Byrd, especially not in the DC games. His stuff with Guy and Batman in WoH is excellent, and his work with the Flash and Question in UDC always makes me laugh out loud (not to mention his kick-ass stuff with Nygma, but that's not exactly comedic)

MVP (in Misc): n/a

Unfortunately I haven't spent much of this year in any of the Misc. games, so I wouldn't really consider myself qualified to pick an MVP from there.

RPG Lifetime Achievement Award: Keyser Soze

This is a guy who absolutely knows his heroes and especially his villains. His work with Hal Jordan was nothing short of heartbreaking at times, putting the GLC's knight in shining armor through the wringer like no one else. And his Joker? Are you freaking kidding me? I don't think I've ever seen any writer, amateur or professional, who has a better handle on the Clown Prince of Crime and why he does what he does. Which makes his season-ending finale in WoH all the more ballsy.

RPG of the Year: All-Star Marvel
This was a close call, as I also love Ultimate DC, but ASM meant a lot more to me personally this year. First of all, because it introduced me to the joys and endless frustrations that come with being a GM. But also because the concept and the world we had set up was just a really and truly exciting place to play around in. It's had some really great moments and some not so great ones, but at the end of the day, ASM has become my baby, and I'd be selling out if I voted for anything else.

Best Game Master Award
: wiegeabo

Well, he's an AGM, but still, the man's roster checks are an ever-present and always effective way of spurring us on in WoH. Oh crap, I haven't posted as Superman in how long?!

Breakout Player of the Year: Eddie Brock

Maybe it's because this was the first year I started really paying attention, but EBJ's work has really impressed me this year, between his work as Iron Man in ASM and as Selina Kyle in UDC. He's been really flexing his creative muscle and his range as an RPer, and it's been great to see.

Most Improved Player: Sabetoonth

I'll be blatantly honest: when Sabetoonth showed up, I didn't think he was going to last two months. But since then he's stepped up his game significantly, throwing a lot of work and effort into his stuff, and now he's becoming a capable player.

Best Newcomer: Bounce

Bounce's work as Lor-Zod and as Damian Wayne have both been extremely entertaining to read, playing not one but two utterly insufferable brats, who still feel like unique and distinct characters rather than two different iterations of the same personality. This guy's got the goods.

IC Awards

Best Multiple PC Story Arc: "Darkseid vs. Everyone Else" from World of Heroes

Considering the amount of work and planning that Watchman put into this arc, it really wouldn't seem fair to nominate anything else. It was a massive-scale showdown that had just about the entire RPG involved in it in one way or another, and while it may have fizzled out a bit towards the end, the buildup to it was immense.

Best Solo Story Arc: "Holiday/White Christmas" from Ultimate DC

I usually like my arcs big and over-the-top, but Byrd's murder mystery really drew me in. It was jam-packed with unexpected twists and turns, and it helped that the protagonist we followed was just so wonderfully despicable. Great stuff.

Best Hero: Hal Jordan (Keyser Soze) in World of Heroes

Considering that Keyser is usually known for playing the most villainous of villains, I wasn't too sure how his foray into playing one of the good guys would work out. However, I'm glad to say it's been phenomenal. Sometimes the best way to make a clean-cut character like Hal more interesting is to put him through the proverbial gauntlet, and boy, Keyser did not let up. You can feel just how much the guy is going through with each post, and how strong he's got to be in order to keep going. The end result is greatness.

Best "Walking The Line" Character: Sinestro (wiegeabo) in World of Heroes

On the opposite end of that is the guy playing Hal's perennial nemesis. wieg's work as Sinestro has always been top-notch, taking a character who really hadn't been fully explored until recently in the comics, and making him a complex and truly intriguing character. Whether he's side-by-side with the Justice League or leading an army of Fear Lanterns into an intergalactic war, it never feels out of character for him, and that's very much to wieg's credit.

Best Villain: Bane (Spike_x1) in Ultimate DC

Maybe it's just because I haven't read Knightfall in a really long time, but I've never been a big fan of Bane. However, Spike's work with him has seriously changed my mind: his Bane is one that's just as intimidating mentally as he is physically, one that can match and even outdo Batman again and again. In fact, I'd honestly say that as far as the Ultimate DC universe is concerned, Bane has supplanted the Joker as Batman's true arch-nemesis.

Best Developed Character: Loki (Keyser Soze) in Heroes vs. Villains

What I love about Keyser's Loki is that absolutely nothing is certain about him/her, whether Loki can truly be trusted or if he can even trust himself. The fact that we'd seen him go from villain to hero and back and are never really sure which one is the "real" one made him one of my absolute favorite characters to read in that game.

Best Team-Up: Superman and the Flash in Ultimate DC

While normally team-up arcs usually involve some big ominous threat or cracking an especially complicated mystery, this one was just plain fun. Spike and Byrd played off of each other really well, and the plot with Maxima was equal parts exciting and ridiculous.

Best Fight: Sabretooth vs Daredevil in Heroes vs. Villains

Victor Creed's rise to power as the new Kingpin was a real treat to read, especially when his organization ran afoul of Matt Murdock. bk and Byrd churned out a fight that was pretty brutal and very entertaining.

Best Post: Absolutely anything involving Howard the Duck in All-Star Marvel (but this one if I have to be specific)
http://forums.superherohype.com/showpost.php?p=19350874&postcount=1067

If there is one solitary reason to take part in ASM, it's this: Rain Dog is goddamn hilarious as Howard.

To hell with you! You ain't taking my awards away! :cmad:

Thanks for the recognition so far, folks. Master Bruce, it means a lot for you to say such complimentary things about my writing. It really does mean a lot to know my work is appreciated, especially when the praise is coming from someone whose writing is up there with the best.

Andy C, thanks for the wide-ranging recognition. I'm really glad you've been digging my work with Hal Jordan. Some of that stuff has been really hard to write, and I'm glad the hard work paid off. And you're making me feel bad about dropping Loki now. :(

I'll try and get my own awards up soon.

OOC Awards

Overall MVP (in all catagories): Byrd Man
Frankly, at this point, this should be a very unsurprising nomination. Byrd Man is to Basement MVP awards what Daniel Day-Lewis is to Oscars. As if his consistency and reliability in posting didn't make us look bad enough, the ol' bastard is a GM in every game (or, at least, that's how it feels), and he stays on top of his duties (heh heh, duties) like it's his job. I always feel better when Byrd is in an RPG, because I know if it comes crashing down, he's sticking around 'til the end. (Probably just to ride on top of the flaming wreckage like a rodeo.)

MVP (in Marvel): Andy C.
Seeing as how I only participated in one Marvel RPG this past year, my options were limited, but don't think that diminishes the credibility of my nomination one bit. I've seen people put less care into their own flesh-and-blood (not a penis joke) than Andy has put into All-Star Marvel. If for nothing else, I hope the RPG pulls through because of Andy's hard work and dedication.

MVP (in DC): Batman
I nominated him for the same award in the UDC awards, and I'll reiterate my reasons here. UDC is MB's birthchild. He's a master puppeteer, but in a good way. In addition to putting long hours (probably not an exaggeration) into building Ultimate Gotham from scratch, he's also had a hand in planning, well, pretty much everything you see about UDC - from the pre-game IC history to the layout of the OOC thread. It's like the Matrix, only instead of weird green numbers, it's MB's soul (probably with a goat involved).

MVP (in Misc): wiegeabo
And what a thankless job, it is. Gone are the glory days of the One Universe RPG (quite unfortunately). Gone is the boom of random, unrelated RPGs (probably more fortunately). Yet one man enforces the law in that lawless town, and that man is wiegeabo. Yes, I know his work in the DC RPG is equally commendable, but I find his dedication to the Misc. RPGs much more fascinating and admirable. (Also, I think he's totally hawt.)

RPG Lifetime Achievement Award: Batman
What does MB have in common with the Lifetime Achievement Award? His posts take a lifetime! (optional rimshot) I kid, of course. In truth, MB's actually gotten better with that. But I digress. To me, nothing quite spells "Lifetime Achievement" like moving up the ranks from lowly Basement poster to Hype Moderator (next step: Hype Overlord). And that's just what he's accomplished outside of the RPGs. To list his accomplishments within our little corner of the Hype, I'd need a really long list, and I don't think any of us really need a recap.

RPG of the Year: The New Ultimate DC RPG
When I first joined the old Ultimate DC RPG, it was a mess. Participation was failing. It was sustained by a few loyal posters. Continuity was spotty (to put it nicely) after repeated retcons. It was clear that it wasn't going to survive. However, with stricter enforcement of the rules and increased excitement, the New Ultimate DC RPG was something really special, and there was a cohesiveness in that first Season that I don't think I've seen before.

Best Game Master Award:
Byrd Man
For his daunting good-looks and devilish charm...actually, it's probably just that he's not afraid to give his fellow players (read: slaves) a kick in the ass when they need it. To use a metaphor, if this were the zombie apocalypse, and we were in possession of a bomb of some sort, I'd trust Byrd with the detonator because - despite how he seems - he knows what's best and he isn't afraid to do it. That's the mark of a good GM. (And possibly a dangerous, renegade vigilante cop.)

Breakout Player of the Year: Carnage27
Unfortunately, a lot of people aren't familiar with his work because he frequents ASM, OU, and CAH, but speaking as the man who handed down Spidey to him (before I left for Africa with Dave Chappelle), I've been thoroughly impressed. I always liked his work - neat, clean, effective - and he's always a joy to interact with, but I feel like he's stepping up his game - especially with the weight of the Wallcrawler on his shoulders.

Most Improved Player: Syn_(Mercenary)
I always feel bad nominating someone for this award because it feels like a backhanded compliment, but it's really not. You can always improve - regardless of your starting point - and that's the case with Syn. I mean, the man basically ran a (quote unquote) "mega-arc" in the late Ultimate Marvel RPG as Cable, and that was pretty early into his career. So he's always been good, now he's just...better. His work as Red Hood, especially, is quite extensive.

Best Newcomer: Bounce
Where is the poor grammar and punctuation? Where is the addiction to Comic Sans MS? Where are the poorly-constructed solo arcs? These are the mark of a true newcomer! Until Bounce starts displaying some of these, I refuse to accept that he's not just a veteran reincarnated. MB, you have the power. Run his IP address. Find out who this "Bounce" really is. (All of that is supposed to work as a compliment.)

I, too, will get my IC Awards up at a later date.

I'd just finished my nominations when the Hype ate them. I shall rewrite them after I've finished demolishing my computer.

OOC Awards

Overall MVP (in all catagories): Byrd Man
I'm gonna say it all here and leave it at that. Check the IC count of any RPG - ANY of them. I guarantee you Byrd's the top poster. But with Byrd, it's not just quantity, it's quality as well. In addition, he's done so much work for the RPGs he's involved in - IE the overview of the crimeworld in New Ultimate DC. He's been a mod in every RPG, and he's always trying to find new ways to bring in people or just shake up the established order with an idea that goes outside the box.

MVP (in Marvel): Andy C.
From the time I spent in Marvel this year, Andy was the stand out, in my opinion. Even as I went to check up on things in All Star, he seemed to be the glue holding that RPG together - fighting against what could've been a quick demise for the rpg in order to keep it alive and thriving.

MVP (in DC): Byrd Man

MVP (in Misc): Haven't been in there much this year, so I can't really say anything.

RPG Lifetime Achievement Award: Batman
Veteran, Batman-ethuthisiast, Comicphile and words smith. Just a few words that come to mind when I think of MB, or as he is now known - Batman. I can remember the time when the RPGs here had no 'governing' force - leaving us to continually wait for a mod to manage something within our community. Once MB was selected to mod the basement, I knew they had made the right choice.

MB's talent at writing always produces a post with deep character development. Pick any post he's written IC, I have no doubt that a window into the character's thoughts, intentions, or motives was opened. I know MB is often ragged on for not posting frequently, but through all the time I've known him, I think I've finally figured out why that may be. When MB writes a post, he puts all he has into it. I believe each post he writes is important to him - and he refuses to submit a post he believes does not do a character justice. This devotion is what makes his posts so great; he genuinely cares about the characters he writes - and he does everything within his power to make sure that he only gives it his best.

In addition to his writing skills, MB is also one of the best "idea" guys around. Everytime I'm confronted with a difficult choice to make with a character, or perhaps unsure of whether an idea I've developed should be pursued, I go to him to get his 2 cents; I've yet to be disappointed.

Thanks for everything you've done for the RPGs, the Basement, and me - hope you win this one, man, you deserve it.

RPG of the Year: The New Ultimate DC RPG

Now, I could go into detail about how much I love this RPG - and that's why I chose it for this award, but I believe in unbiased reasoning, so here it goes. This RPG, from what I saw, had the most interest pre-inception when the idea of a reboot was being proposed. After the ooc went up, the thread was flooded with applications of excited posters ready to get things underway. Since then, this RPG has been one of the most consistent regarding posting from the members.

In addition to all this, the stories from everyone have been great and, strangely, the RPG itself seems to be moving toward an end of it's own volition. Every one's stories seem to mesh together, even when unintentional. I can only expect great things from the newly begun Season II.

Best Game Master Award: Byrd Man
Giving every one in DC the usual kick in the pants to post, and all his "extra curricular" work for Ultimate DC.

Breakout Player of the Year: Eddie Brock
Ed and I chat a lot outside the RPGs, but almost everytime we talk, the topic seems to turn to the Hype. Because of this, I often get "sneak peaks" into what Ed is planning for his characters, and I have to say, it's ALWAYS something extensive and intricate. Simple stories and Eddie Brock do not go together (unless you're talking about Edward Brock Jr. from the comics but...you get the point). His work with Supergirl in OU was awesome, so when he picked her up in Ultimate DC, I of course became very excited. His Catwoman in Ultimate DC has also been incredibly enjoyable - watching Selina develop and grow for an entire season before ever putting on the Catwoman suit was very entertaining, and speaks volumes about Eddie's ability to write interesting stories for characters before they become who they're destined to be. And, from my brief time in All Star, Eddie's work with Iron Man was, in the immortal Harry Osborn's words, "sooo good." Without a doubt, Eddie wins this one in my book.

Most Improved Player: Blacklight
Unfortunately, I haven't seen much of Blacklight in the rpgs since midway through the year, but I must say, of all the players here on hype - Blacklight has improved the most, in my opinion. When Blacklight joined, he was badgered by some - so bad to the point that the term "blacklighting" was coined as a way to mock someone for doing something stupid. Now, when I read Blacklight's posts, I love his take on the characters. His descriptive ability and his talent for dialogue has substantially increased. Nice job, BL - hope to see you more in 2011.

Best Newcomer: Bounce
Bounce is one of the few newcomer's I've seen who never had a rocky start. I, myself, was not a pro by any means when I started, and in fact, my first crack at the RPGs here was embarassing. Bounce, on the other hand started the race, so to speak, and has been going strong since. I look forward to what he'll bring to our community in the future.

I'm jumping on the bandwagon and dropping my IC awards in a little bit.

IC Awards

Best Multiple PC Story Arc: Sta'rro - New Ultimate DC RPG

Best Solo Story Arc: Andy C. - Superman's wild adventure through the Multiverse in DC RPG.
Who DIDN'T Supes face off with during this arc? Andy played this arc completely outside the box, which is what made it so entertaining. I truly did not know what/where/who Superman was going to see next - the possibilities were endless. Favorite moment by far? Goku vs. Superman. :hrt:

Best Hero: Batman - Batman in New Ultimate DC RPG
MB's take on Bruce in this RPG was exciting from the start and has only continued to gain momentum. Just like in the comics, this Batman is literally EVERYWHERE. He's Bruce Wayne attending a carnival, Batman fighting an intergalactic threat in space, and The Dark Knight bringing down the Criminal Underworld. I always look forward to the next post - and my anticipation is always rewarded.

Best "Walking The Line" Character: Catman_prb's James Gordon - Ultimate DC RPG.
Season I was a roller coaster. Catman presented a version of Gordon we've never seen before - one who's willing to bend the rules and manipulate anyone and anything he needs to get his job done. Great read, can't wait to see where he goes next.

Best Villain: Keyser Soze - The Joker in DC RPG.

Best Developed Character: Wiegebo - Sinestro in DC RPG.
Didn't see ANY of it coming.

Best Team-Up: Trusty-Sidekick/Bounce - Jason Todd and Damian in DC RPG.
I loved the back and forth dialogue with Damian and Jason. Both of these posters did an excellent job portaying them. When Jason made Damian wear the Red X costume, a smile came over my face. :word:

Best Fight: Batman and Spike_x1 - Batman vs. Bane in New Ultimate DC RPG.

Best Post: Something of which I still hope to see more.

OOC Awards

Overall MVP (in all catagories): Byrd
Simply put, he gets everywhere. If there's an RPG running, you can bet your bottom dollar/pound/euro that he'll be GMing or participating to the highest standard. I, personally, can't imagine the Basement being the way it is today without his constant support, hardwork and dedication. He thoroughly deserves this. And it sickens me.

MVP (in Marvel):
Unfortunately I've not been around much in Marvel this year, so it would be remiss of me to comment.

MVP (in DC): Byrd
The man runs the DC section through his own iron will to rule. It will require a coup d'etat to remove him and replace him with a more genial regent. Viva la Wieg!

MVP (in Misc): Carnage27
Again, I've not given the Misc section the attention that it deserves this year. But Carnage has. He did a much better job than me at attempting to keep FTPO afloat, and he's a key influence in the running of OU. Without his constant, relentless posting I have the awful feeling that the Misc section would have died off by now.

RPG Lifetime Achievement Award: Batman
Without a doubt MB is worthy of this, despite the name change. And the modship. And the goat ****ing. When I first arrived at the Hype, he was the guy who was running the show and his word is still law. This is not a criticism. Without his leadership, his guidance, the RPGs would probably have run themselves into the ground by now. And IC his posts are still, when they appear, spectacular and well worth the wait. It is perhaps fitting then, that he should get this award now. He thoroughly deserves it.

RPG of the Year: One Universe
I found this award really very hard to give. For me this is a toss up between UDC and OU. Whilst UDC is undoubtedly an elegant work of art, this year I found the most enjoyment in OU, in my very brief tenure as Lex Luthor. The world I entired had been meticulously crafted, the interaction was fantastic and I inherited a very interesting arc courtesy of Karem-Knight that I'm still trying to live up to. This has led me to hours researching how bills are passed in America, much to my hatred. I really hope I don't ruin your RPG.

Best Game Master Award
:Wiegeabo
This guy is almost as widespread as Byrd. In nearly every game, Wieg takes the time to be 'roster *****'. It's a job that I certainly couldn't do, and I can't begin to imagine the time it takes to trawl through each IC thread to do it. A lot of us don't appreciate this amazing work as much as we should, and some of us have even complained in the past. This is wrong, and Wieg's work should be recognised.

Most Improved Player: Syn_(Mercenary)
This feels a really weird award to give out because, like EB said, it feels like a backhanded compliment. Syn was one of the first RPers that I worked with, and he was fantastic then. I can still remember going over certain aspects of the Ultimate Cable arc..."goblets of blood" spring to mind. He's even better now. The best example I can think of is his Ultimate Red Hood. He took a character that I doubted would work in Ultimate Gotham, and turned him into something spectacular. He weaved him into the backstory of the city, and the RPG, and has made a hero rival to that universe's Batman. And it's believable. Really this is nothing but a compliment. Hats off to you. Bravo.

Best Newcomer: Bounce
Without a doubt the best newcomer of a year, and one I feel I owe an apology to. When we worked together during the first season of UDC, I was the Zod to his Lor-Zod and I let him down. I didn't post regularly, didn't communicate with him, and eventually let my enjoyment for the character die. It is a testament to him that he carried on from that, when a lot of others wouldn't, and turned his Lor-Zod into one of the best characters in the game. Another candidate that thoroughly deserves the nomination.

I'll have my IC noms up later.

:word:

Thanks. Working with Bounce has been a blast, I just feel bad because I was the one slowing us down. We could've produced a lot more good banter back and forth had I not had my lag in writing.
