I actually just started picking up Talon last week (or maybe 2 weeks ago, but I think it was last week). I loved the Court of Owls story and I've been skimming the book since it came out. So I just splurged and got mostly caught up. I loved every minute of it, so I'm still going on it

I kept going back and forth on this one but ultimately passed on it. I'll be picking it up for the Trinity War crossover. If it wows me there then I might continue with it. The problem was that I didn't care for any of the characters save for the Martian Manhunter, and the skims haven't really convinced me to pick it up.

UNWRITTEN #50 (MR) (NOTE PRICE) $4.99 - (JH recommended! Of course, it is nowhere close to new reader friendly, and one JH could never get into. If he found a deal, though, this series is a trip. With such low readership, I'm shocked it hasn't been cancelled; but it's one of the rare books that DC seems loyal to.)

It's got that taboo "MR" ranking to it. I'm more of a PG/PG-13 kind of guy. Very seldom will a MR book pull me in. In fact, the only examples I can think of are Walking Dead and Y the Last Man. Maybe Marvel/Miracle-Man, but only for the Moore stuff. I quickly lost interest after that.

TMNT ONGOING #23 $3.99 - (Almost JH recommended. It slumped with the space/alien crap; but last issue got them back on the streets where they belong. I do think JH would enjoy this title.)

This is a title that I wish I would have got from the beginning. I skim most issues but it's so far along I don't really feel the pull to get it. But maybe if I find the first trade at Half Priced books someday I'll pick it up and buy it that way.

AGE OF ULTRON #10AI $3.99 - (JH recommended, only because I'd want to know what they do in this final issue that is suppose to shake up the Marvel U. Sadly, the stuff that's come before hasn't delivered.)(oh, and I'm behind on my mutant titles, except for a few; so I can't recommend many of them.)

I bought Age of Ultron through issue 6 before making it my official first ever dropped event. I kept issues 1-6 though because I kept saying if I skim issue 10 and like what I see, I'll get caught up. Well, now it's bagged so I won't even have that opportunity. As for this .1 issue (an initiative that I still think is stupid on a sesame seed bun) I'm not that big of a Pym fan and I don't really care about the Avengers A.I. series coming up (save for Victor), so I don't really see a reason for me to bother with it. I'll skim it, though.

AVENGERS ARENA #11 NOW $2.99 - (JH recommended. Sure, people get pissed at this book; but if you can step away from your love of the characters, Hopeless is telling a hell of a great story. My favorite Marvel title! Wow, what a death last issue of one of JH's favorite characters.)

I know... dang it! I actually skim every issue of this title so I'm up to date with it. I honestly don't know why I'm not buying it. I think it has to do with that "so far behind" mentality, but I was just frustrated after the first issue death that I didn't want to support it... but the story really is good. I'm hoping to catch a big find at Half Priced Books someday.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #8 NOW $3.99 - (JH recommended. I love Remender, as he tells some good tales. Disappointed with Age of Ultron? This is a much better version of that kind of storyline.)

I like Remender but Captain America is one of those characters that I enjoy best in an event or team setting (like Superman or Wonder Woman). I hear good things but not enough to drop any of the books I currently buy.

DAREDEVIL #27 $2.99 - (JH recommended! Naturally, he gets it.)

That said, it's actually real low on my favorites list, and if I have to drop much more, this is looking sadly possible. It won't be my next drop (that'd probably be Uncanny X-Force), but it's close.

GUARDIANS OF GALAXY #4 NOW $3.99 - (JH recommended! I haven't read last issue, but the first three were pretty damn good.)

I read the first three issues (including the 0 issue) and enjoyed them for the most part, but by the time issue 3 rolled around I was getting bored. I skimmed it and really got nothing out of it. I passed on it (for now) and will skim the next issue or two. If something catches my eye I'll get caught up, but while I'm TRYING to drop stuff, it's technically dropped.

HAWKEYE #11 $2.99 - (JH recommended! How in the heck isn't he getting this??!!?? Seriously, he gets Talon and not this book?)

I've given this book two different chances so far. I bought issue 1, and while I loved the feel and art of the book, Fraction's dialogue for some of the characters really annoyed the crap out of me. Then I kept hearing good things so I picked up three issues (the two with the video tape and I think the one after) and while I enjoyed them, my budget was strapped enough that it was still in the lower levels of my enjoyment, so I didn't pick up any more and eventually sold the ones I did have.

Sadly, I love Kate Bishop and wish I could get into it more, but it just doesn't hold my attention apparently.

The only other indie book that I'm expecting to get this month is the first issue of The Owl from Dynamite, which is the LONG AWAITED return of the Project Superpowers line. I don't know when it's coming out, but that dude's mine when it does.

I liked the first issue, and I might still get the second, but I'm loving Talon right now. Plus, I'm already invested in Talon. Jupiter could suck after issue 1. It probably won't, but it might. That said, I'm a wuss and will probably get it as well.

As much as I love to knock JH's tastes in comics, I just realized that both of our pull lists look eerily similar this week so I can't.

Thanks TMOB! School is done until the fall, and I can try to catch up on my reading AND try to finish Book 5 of the Game of Thrones books. (Song of Fire and Ice, I think it's really called, right?).

The books are indeed called A Song of Ice and Fire as a whole. A Game of Thrones was the title of the first book, although I think it works pretty well as a title for the whole series too. I think Martin might've intended to focus more on the years-long winter/summer dichotomy more than he ended up doing; the politics overshadow the seasonal imagery in both the books and the show.
