So, there are a lot of strong opinions in these parts about the symbiote and its related plot lines. So, after it hijacked the Villain Thread once again, I think the time is now to create a separate thread.

Do you want to see the symbiote saga play out in Marvel's Spiderman films? Why or why not? If yes, how would it best be done? Discuss below.

Did somebody say, jazz?

Yes, but in it's own Trilogy.First Trilogy should be about Spider-Man and lead up to him fighting the Sinister Six.
Second trilogy can and should do the symbiote Arc of Venom. Doing the Spider-Man Black Suit Arc and Venom in the first movie. Carnage in the second and in the third Agent Venom is intrduced. Be let's be honest Agent Venom is awesome. Heck his name alone is awesome. Just imagine a badass epic voice "Agent Venom". Sounds so awesome.

If they want to do a Planet of the Symbiote's style story at some point I'd have no problem with it. As for Female Venom? No. Toxin? Hell no. Those two characters where just ways off keeping the Spidey train on the Venom track and in my opinion could be integrated into a Planet of the Symbiote movie.

Venom/Black Suit is a must!
Marvel just needs to give Eddie Brock a fleshed out motivation for hating Spider-Man.

Venom/Eddie Brock suck.

Carnage and Agent Venom are the only good things that ever came out of the Symbiote.

Agreed. Well, except for in the Spectacular and 90's series there he was cool.

The Symbiote storyline is the one which can translate best to the big screen. Unique, not overly complex, character-driven, and featuring a wealth of amazing cinematic opportunities.

Indeed. I'll admit the Venom arc. While simple. Pays off big time and introduces many characters and opens up several opportunities and possibilities for the MCU. Like Venom or not, his character opens up alot for the future of the Spider-Man Series.

Yes, I'd love to see the black symbiote (finally) or the symbiotes as a race. I want to see Venom as well, but not in the first film. Since Eddie and the black symbiote are each characters in their own right, it takes time to develop them before they merge as Venom. I don't want to see that story tophered up for a second time.

Venom and Dr. Doom are the villains that need the proper movie treatment above anyone else. As long as Fox has F4, Doom has no chance but I have hope for Venom with the new Spidey.

I'd LOVE to see Venom appear in any Spider-man film series. Yes,he was already done in part 3 but we all know he wasn't done very well. Although some may not like him, there's no doubt about his rank as one of Spidey's top 3 baddies(along Goblin and Ock)and he still is a very popular character. Obviously, the symbiote/Venom storyline needs to be at least stretched over 2 films. The first of the films can introduce Brock and give Spidey the symbiote, the next should feature Venom vs. Spider-man.

Love your avvy...SM3 Venom had such a great design. Oh what could have been. :csad:

Eddie Brock Venom and maybe Carnage. Too many symbiotes aren't good. Keep them uncontrollable and evil.

Thanks! Yep. Although I do like Spider-man 3,he was screwed over big time.

Makes me wonder if Carnage will ever be in a Spider-man film. I'm not a huge fan of the character, but it seems that for many people he would only work in a Venom spinoff movie. If you want him in a Spider-man film you obviously have to do Venom first.

With MCU you can definatly have him in now. The possibilities are endless. I hope with the Symbiote it makes a debut in GOTG2 and is just stored away for safe keeping until spidey stumbles upon it. Also now that it's rebooted we can give Brock a better role like peter's older best friend and soon to be rival. Do some buildup with brock dont show him in like one movie.

Spidey with the symbiote i want it to influence him like frodo and the ring or what drugs do to a addict. Make him seem like its everything and the only thing that matters and see it slowly corrupt his mind and also his body. Show the the symbiote is a alive and its a threat.

I would love to see it. But I hope if they do it, we also get Carnage.

Yes, and I mentioned this in my trilogy idea thread. To sum up

Eddie is seen in the first film, Peter denies him access to get an interview with Spider-man. During IW the symbiote comes back with Spidey, for most of the second film Spidey has the black suit and he is becoming more and more erractic, Peter starts acting like a *****e and tricks Eddie which gets him fired.

End of second film Spidey nearly kills his villain, and removes the symbiote, which feeling rejected goes to Eddie who now hates Peter and Spiderman.

3rd film has Venom destroying Spider-mans reputation and Eddie destroying Peters life.

Spidey returns from Infinity War with the new suit when he catches some muggers or whatevs. He hands them over to Jean DeWolff, and we learn through some banter that they're friendly. Jean is one of only a few members of the police force who aren't giving Spidey, Daredevil, and other vigilantes a hard time. She, like Spidey, is having an awful time dealing with JJJ. Jean mentions that while Spidey's been off in space, she's been tracking a serial killer named Cletus Kassady who also goes by the name of Sin Eater. (This is a slight variation on the comics.)

Jean is killed by Sin Eater. Spidey teams up with Daredevil to hunt him down. They finally get a hold of Sin Eater. The black costume has now altered Spidey's behavior to the point where he's unable to control himself, beating Sin Eater nearly to death. Daredevil intervenes, they fight. Daredevil notices the costume seems to have the same sensitivity to sound that he does. He ends the fight by telling Spidey he knows his identity, and the two of them head over to Avengers Tower where RDJ, earning $15 million for 15 minutes worth of work, blasts the costume off with a doohickey. The costume slinks off. In the post credits scene we see the costume find Eddie Brock who got introduced as Peter's rival earlier in the movie.

I think the 90s cartoon showed that Venom can be handled well. I'd use that as an inspiration. But he's good for maybe one movie as a villain. After that, his relative simplicity does him in (which isn't a problem since most MCU villains only last one movie).

Carnage is more a destructive force than a character. His motivations are so simplistic, that I don't think he'd make a good Spider-Man villain. However, if they did still want to do an anti-hero Venom spinoff, he might be better. Alternatively, they could skip Eddie Brock and go with Flash Thompson and have him fight Carnage. I'm indifferent to this, but it's an idea at least.

I think the handling of Venom on the show was great. Heck, even just Brock in general. Hopefully the MCU adds TAS version for the movies. Never got why they shaded Venom with that weird red on one side, blue on the other shading.

Honestly, it wouldn't bother me if we never saw them - though I'm sure we will at some point (Venom at the very least).

They're visually striking. Beyond that, I never cared much for them as characters. Carnage was my favorite Spider-Man villain as a child. Now he's one of my least favorite.

I'd like to see the Symbiote built up over a couple of films. I think it'd be good to skip over Eddie Brock and go straight to Flash Thompson. Build Flash up over the first couple of movies, show him progressing from high school bully, to a mercenary working for Oscorp, and have him lose his legs in the second film.

Then in the third Spidey film, introduce the Venom suit. Don't have Venom himself, just have Peter fighting against the darker side of his personality, with the suit corrupting him. At the end he tears it off and seeking vengeance it finds its way to Oscorp. Osborn selects Flash for experimentation with the symbiote.

I've been a big supporter of a Thunderbolts movie, and I think that could cap off Phase 4 and be the first appearance of Flash as Venom. Don't put him in the Agent Venom suit just yet, that can come later after Flash has more control over the symbiote.

Then Spiderman 4 can have Venom as the villain, focusing on the struggle between the vengeful symbiote and Flash (Who admires Spiderman). At the end, Flash manages to get the Symbiote under control and becomes Agent Venom. The symbiote moves on from seeking vengeance against Peter. And then Flash can spin off into an Agent Venom franchise.

I hope there is no Symbiote storyline in the new movies. We have seen it already.

I'm sorry, but no. I understand Agent Venom(not what they've recently done with him), but while Carnage is ok, Eddie Brock/Venom is miles better and interesting than him.

I think a full trilogy about the symbiote would be amazing.

Movie 1: Have Brock be throughout the movie, and build up the rivalry between him and Peter.

Movie 2: Have Spider-Man get the symbiote. At the end have Spider-Man get rid of the symbiote, tease Brock getting it.

Movie 3: Introduce Venom, focus on Venom.
