I just remember the episode being built up as this big turning point in their relationship, and I don't think anything of significance really came out of it. It was just a reminder that there was still some level of care between them, but they were going drastically separate ways.

It was still a solid episode. But when I think of Season 6's best, or most standout, it's not one of the ones I think about it.

also, that season 7 episode Fracture. I thought it would be the final straw in the Clex relationship but Clark seemed to sympathize with Lex and hold out for hope that he will change. Part of me thinks that will always be there in the Clark/Lex relationship in Smallville. Clark will always have that hope that Lex can redeem himself. I don't think that will change in this show. I did like that episode because it showed Lionel being an ass to a young Lex.

Point, it was somewhat a let down in that respect but both Tom and Michael acted their asses off and it was better than average in the writing, directing and production depts too.

Although, I am a bit skeptical how there could be so much kryptonite that far underground when the tunnels there were from the cold war era and were 50 or more years old.

There were some major contrivances in the story aside from that, which is why I didn't give it a five, but I still like it a lot. It's one of my favorites from that season. Although, my faves would have to be Labyrinth and Crimson.

I guess I misspoke earlier, I'd go with Splinter or maybe Vengeance as the season 5 choice rather than Hidden.

Either Labryrinth and Crimson I think were better in the 6th rather than Nemesis.

Although, my faves would have to be Labyrinth and Crimson.

"Labyrinth" was definitely one of the best of 6. I still think that was Tom Welling's best performance of the series.

I absolutely adored Labyrinth.

I do think it's one of the best performances he'd given the entire series. That and Splinter, which is why I recommended that one too.

He is really underrated as an actor, IMO. More people need to see episodes like that so they can see how well Tom does his job.

^ Memoria is still one of my favorite episodes ever.
It will always be one of my favourites in the series.
For Season 7 I'd go for Apocalypse instead of Arctic.

It's a much better episode and Tom totally rocked the direction, as he did with this past season's Injustice.

I'd go with Splinter in Season 5 and either Run or Transference in season 4 instead of Nemesis and Commencement, but I don't have any particular problems with them.

The Pilot and Rosetta are excellent choices from the first two seasons.
Good call on Apocalypse! The reason I chose Arctic was, despite thinking it's a disappointingly lackluster finale, there are moments in it that I appreciate, and I thought it might prove a nice finish to the marathon, allowing new viewers in the group to get some sort of payoff (Lana leaving Clark, Lex finally finding out about Clark). But I will definitely consider Apocalypse. :)

As for Commencement... that one is a MUST for me. I won't say it's a perfect episode, but geez, I love it. So that definitely stays. :p

And for me, The Pilot and Rosetta are no-brainers for Seasons 1 & 2. ;)
It's a rock solid list, Zorex. A couple of suggestions:

I'd personally replace "Nemesis" with "Justice". The latter isn't even one of my favorites, but I think it's a substantial moment in Smallville history. I was never really a big fan of "Nemesis". A major disappointment, IMO.

And as for Season 7, there's no way you can overlook "Descent". One of the five best of the series.
Y'know, I don't know what it is, but I do like Nemesis. I think part of it is seeing Lana handle things the way she does, and the ending when Clark and Lex finally make it out of the tunnels. This list was made with the hope that it would be able to tell some sort of story itself, or, rather, tell some sort of abridged version of the main thread of the bulk of the series... e.g. the Lex-Lana-Clark relationship(s). So, I thought Nemesis would lend itself well to that. I think... I think Nemesis stays. :p

Now, the thought behind the list explained... what would you guys think of Reckoning in place of Hidden?

Thank you for the input you guys! Any more, keep it coming. And if you're in the Los Angeles area in July (when I'll probably have it) and would be interested in joining, just shoot me a PM. :)

Hey y'all!

I figured this might be the best place to come (without starting a new thread).

I'm thinking of having a little Smallville marathon sometime soon, and have been trying to put together a list of the episodes that would play. The goal is to have one episode from seasons 1-7 (which, runtime alone, totals somewhere between 5-6 hours... oof).

Here's the list I have now. If you have ideas of better choices, please, let me know, I'd love the input! I want the final selection to be a good mix for both those who are familiar with the show, one watched but don't watch anymore, and those who are new to the show.

Thanks. :)

Season 1 - Pilot 50 min
Season 2 - Rosetta 44 min
Season 3 - Memoria 43 min
Season 4 - Commencement 53 min
Season 5 - Hidden 42 min
Season 6 - Nemesis 41 min
Season 7 - Arctic 41 min

I'm having particular trouble with seasons 3 & 7...

I guess it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Are you trying to give an overview of the series storyline, or just a presentation of the "best" of SV? If it's the latter, then definitely just pick your favorites and enjoy the show! :)

I like your list, with a few exceptions. For S4, I'd sub Onyx or Blank. Those are favorites that I also think were really well done episodes. Commencement is a good choice too though.

For S7 - I'd absolutely choose Descent over Arctic.

Damn.

Just got laid off.

Figured working in the mortgage credit industry was going to bite me in the ass eventually.

:(

Oh, Triplet...I am so so so sorry. I also work in the financial field, and one of the hardest parts of my job is seeing how everyone else is suffering due to constant layoffs.

I hope you find something else soon. :(

Thanks, guys.

I have three weeks of pay as severance so it's not completely bleak, yet.

*hugs*

I understand it, life has been throwing a few curveballs our way too. A couple of weeks ago, my wife's mother passed away from a heartattack. My wife went out to California to help her dad with everything for a couple of weeks...so needless to say, it's been stressful as she has been working to come to terms with it.

I'm sorry for her loss, Brainy.

:(

But good news, I got a job already, but if you guys had been following me on twitter, you'd know that already. I had posted the news from the car!

LOL!

Anyway, I wish I had taken a picture, but I went to a career fair at this local wireless Internet place, and the people out there were a sight to behold. I had my iPhone with me, but I went with a friend who also gotten laid off from the same place I did and she has an interview on Friday.

It was looking good for her, so I think we'll both have jobs, so yeah!

:D

I'm so relieved it was so much easier this time than the last.

Glad to hear it Trip.

Well since everyone else is airing their issues, I'll join in. My wife and I have recently separated after 8 years. Too much fighting and something about her just changed after my daughter was born 2 years ago. Not to mention some other issues that pushed me over the edge which I won't get into. Right now nothing is being done legally, we just sold our house, which we were in the process of doing anyway, and live in 2 separate places. No idea what comes next. Still trying to figure it all out.

Congrats on the new job Trip. Hope you enjoy it, and glad it didn't take any time at all for you to land back on your feet.

Hulkster, very very sorry to hear that. Marriage is tough, especially when a youngster is brought into the equation. Whatever happens, I hope you find happiness, and make sure to keep in your daughter's life. shoot me a message on XBL if you wanna game sometime.

Good Lord. Way to bounce back Trip.

Good Lord. Way to bounce back Trip.

Yeah, no kiddin'!

I was imagining some horrible, long and drawn out search for a job where we can't get by on just the unemployment checks, having to declare bankruptcy and the marriage falling apart under the pressure, etc.

Can't make a promise about the marriage, mine ain't doing so good either, Hulk, so you have my biggest sympathies, but I don't think bankruptcy is going to be the ending of this part of my life story.

I am so relieved. I hate looking for work, even though I've usually not had problems finding jobs. I'm either lucky or act way more confident than I feel.

I was completely surprised when he offered me the job. He said it so casually, he said, 'Can you start on the 17th of August?'

I think I blinked, because right before that he said something like, 'I'm not sure about this job for you, but I'm going to take you on your word that you can handle it.'

This Tech Support manager is young enough to be my son and was surprised when I defended myself when he said "I'm not sure you can handle this job."

It was the weirdest job interview I've ever had and I hadn't even thought I was going in for an interview, I was there for a job fair for a customer service job.

There were openings for tech support but the HR manager said they wouldn't be looking at the applications for that job until the end of the week, once they'd filled the customer service jobs.

Both pay the same, so I was like I'll see how this goes and went to the job fair. I thought I was just going to be screened to see if I qualified for a second, more in depth interview.

The women who was talking to me first took one look at my resume and said, "Do you really want a customer service job?"

I said, "I just want a job, and I think I could do a good job in customer service, but Techical Support is probably a better fit."

She went to go get one of the Tech Support managers and he was, oddly enough, wearing an Uncle Sam outfit. (That's a story in and of itself.)

So, I talked to this kid that was probably 26 if he was a day and he was looking at this old lady, probably thinking I'm crazy for thinking I could actually be qualified for a job in tech support.

I told him that's what the other place thought, yet I held my own. I'm smart and learn fast.

So, seeing the skepticism on his face, I countered that I may be old enough to be his mom, but I know I'm smarter than most people and I've been doing this a long time. I can certainly pick up what I don't already know and I know a lot about computers already, just never worked with cellular modems before.

He still looked skeptical, even while wearing his cheap Halloween costume shop Uncle Sam suit, so I was surprised he hired me. Although, I think it probably had helped that he had been impressed by my job at HP when I explained what I'd done there.

Anyway, it was probably the weirdest interview I'd ever had and I got a job so soon after losing my last one. It was surprising even to me.

I probably should have bought a lottery ticket yesterday.

LOL!

Oh, well.

Heh heh. I touched one of those once...

Too bad I couldn't hold on to it...but alas, it was destined for another's hands... ;)

Sorry to hear about everyone's downers...hope it all works out the best for you all.

Stick around...you never know what --or who-- may come around the ol' farmhouse...

Well I won't say I'm sorry for the lay-off because it sounds like it worked out for the better! Congrats, and I'm sure you'll be teaching your new little boss a thing or two in no time. ;)

Aww, Hulkster. I'm so sorry. Such a difficult situation, and so sad. Hang in there buddy, things will eventually sort themselves out, but it will likely take some time.

I understand it, life has been throwing a few curveballs our way too. A couple of weeks ago, my wife's mother passed away from a heartattack.

My condolences to Mrs. B8. Losing a mother suddenly (I assume) like that has to be incredibly hard.

NERD! :woot:
*hides my Lana's Green-K and Jor-El necklaces*

I guess I'll add my own mini-update. Both of my kids recently graduated: one from college and the other from high school. So, one is leaving for school, but the other one is coming back! :wow:

For those who might know or care, my health situation has been thankfully stable for a while now. 4 years, to be exact. So, while things aren't perfect, I am appreciative for every healthy day I share with my family.

;) :D
