The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR Box Office Thread V

Any estimates on how much longer The Dark Knight Rises is going to be in theaters. I figured out my city's theaters moved TDKR from their theater rooms with their biggest screens to the smaller rooms.

I am trying to figure out if I can watch it one more time on the bigger screen theaters if the theater company will move TDKR back, there will have to be two consecutive weekends without any good movie releases

Its gonna easily cross $800 million WW by this weekend.

Should be in the 830-840 range.

Does TDKR got any chance to hit 1.1 billion line as for its worldwide boxoffice(towards the end of season and include boxoffice record from China)?

It's been stated before but yes it's on pace for a billion worldwide. TDKR still has openings in China and Italy as well.

so you think reaching 1.1 billion is quite possible?

Thursday is looking to be around ~ $3,420,000.

If that's the case, the weekend numbers would look something like:

Friday ~ $5,360,000
Saturday ~ $7,410,000
Sunday ~ $5,780,000

Est Weekend Projection ~ $18,550,000
Thursday's actual hold was real good at $3,586,326 (-3%)

That means the projected weekend estimate may now a bit higher:

Friday ~ $5,630,000
Saturday ~ $7,760,000
Sunday ~ $6,060,000

New Est Weekend Projection ~ $19,450,000

The Dark Knight Rises will open next weekend in the middle east. That includes UAE, Egypt, Tunisia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Lebanon along with some others and the middle east market can easily bring in <$30m in two weeks.

Then you have Italy, Greece, Pakistan, Switzerland, and China from 21st to 29th of August too which can raise TDKR's total to <$700m.

I remember one poster laughed at me when i said TDKR will make more in OS than DOM and i predicted 550/700=1.25B before the Co. shooting. But unfortunately that tragedy cut at least $50m from the DOM number. But i am hoping after the Olympics end it will pick up a little more steam OS and maybe even reach the 800 mark!

Here in the middle east Ramadan ends in a week's time and people go in HUGE numbers to cinemas. Two millions attending TDKR in week one alone could translate to <$10m.

It's possible, but will need very strong performance in China to do it. At the moment I would say the target is to beat Pirates 2 worldwide, which is $1.066 billion.

Weekend projection looks to be inline according to the update from Deadline:

3. Warner Bros’/Legendary Pictures’ PG-13 The Dark Knight Rises (3,690 theaters) is third after a 4-week run atop the box office with $5.5M today and probably $19.3M for the weekend.

$754,639,000

I'm fine if it slips into third place...I actually enjoyed The Campaign last night.

It's actually between 780-790 million worldwide. And it will be well over 800+ million after the weekend. BOM doesn't update the foreign numbers until Sunday. Screen Daily reported TDKR was at 407 million overseas through Thursday.

This will easily hit the $1 Billion mark.....

About 15% higher worldwide.

This is the reason you don't let a director have too much creative control in some situations. But of course Nolan rescued the Batman films, so you pretty much have no choice in the situation even if it reduces profit potential.

I don't like 3D, but I do realize it is a cash cow.

WB headquarters....

WB: Where's Nolan!?
*turns corner to see Bane standing in the next room*
Nolan: Speak of the genius... and he shall appear.
WB: Your operation at the boxoffice, it didn't work!
Nolan: Our plan is proceeding as scheduled.
WB: Then why aren't we made the movie 3D to milk audience?
*Nolan motions to Emma Thomas*
Nolan: Leave us.
WB: No! Stay here, I'm in charge.
Bane: *places hand on WB executive's shoulder* Do you feel in charge now?
WB: We've paid you a small fortune as budget.
Nolan: And this gives you..power over me?
WB: What are you?
Nolan: I'm 3D's reckoning, here to end the cash cow you've all been living on.
WB: You're pure director.
Nolan: I am necessary director.

Probably it happened this way.
