Now I wonder what the 6/10 debate was...

When the Joker was in the integration room sitting on the floor asking how many of the cops friends had he killed. And the cop says six. There was a debate by......certain people that swore the Joker mouthed "Ten" and not "six". When it was clearly "six" and (it was) what he mouthed. Huge fight broke out over it.

What else trailers are for? To get you interested in the movie. I get what this movie will be about. About gathering together a pack of superheroes, stupid remarks, inspirational speeches, Johansson's swinging **** and explosions. Not going to offend The Avengers fans here, some people might like that. And, of course, it can be a real pleasure for fans to see their idols alive and breathing in the movie.

Apparently you misread my post
It's one thing to base your interest in a movie on the trailer, that's completely reasonable, I'm not interested in TDKR because of the trailer for instance.

I'm not even going to respond to the rest since I think it's dumb, no offense

Oh of course :funny: I was lurking during that time

Yeah, that one takes the cake in the stupidity department. :hehe:

We were almost there with "Blurple", but at least that one had some level of interpretation.

I took place in both 6/10 and Blurple and I'm not ashamed to say I called 6 and I called Purple.

However they both got to a point where it was just people screaming at each other that it didn't make sense to go on.

There was a Nolan/Bay Discussion last year in maybe May/June that almost made me leave again. Where people dissected the Hospital explosion in TDK and said essentially it sucked because it was a Baysplosion.

Are you honestly suggesting that science fiction films weren't thought of as legitimately serious cinema prior to Aliens?

What I am saying is that science fiction films were well regarded before Aliens (But it took Star Wars to show the potential gross that could be made - before SW, only 2001 made any serious money, and that was very low).

Before Star Wars, we had 2001, Planet of the Apes, etc. But in Aliens, a film was FINALLY recognised as having a character in a science fiction setting worthy of an acting award. That might not seem like much now, but that was the FIRST time acting in a scifi film was officially deemed worthy. Not Charlton Heston in POTA, etc.

In 2003, ROTK won an Academy Award for best Picture - the first and ONLY time a fantasy film had done so.

I'm not saying that films before these were not worse or less important - what I am saying is that movies such as Aliens, ROTK and TDK led to advancements in genre films (scifi / fantasy) that would enrich the future of cinema.

Heath's wonderful improve alone lifts it from a Baysplosion.

WTF is wrong with a baysplosion? If you're gonna take one thing from that guy, it's how to do an explosion.

Helluva lot of yang.
This.

I still take issue with the TDK suit, but Catwoman? That's a whole different monster. TDK is a suit I find jarring to see on screen due to very technical gripes, it's not the style I hate so much as I found the cowl to look ridiculous on screen for most of TDK. Catwoman's suit on the other hand has a completely perfect design and doesn't look "bad" on screen, it's just IMO unambitious and boring compared to my expectations for a 2012 adaption of the comic character.

TDK's jigsaw suit is anything but that, though, it just had the offputting cowl that made hishead shaped like an egg half of the time. But it's not like I felt the Batman was stripped of anything his comic design had, I just found him goofy on screen. Batman's famous for his money shots and general badass screen presence, but in TDK this vibe was lost on me for whatever it was they chose to do to the suit. It's very difficult for me to explain.

Wasn't bluple another batmeme?

It spawned out of the first sighting of the new logo and there appeared to be a blue/purple tint to it and the debate went on for weeks. :o

Oh yeah, that one was fun. I remember saying the fireball actually made sense because the Joker wouldn't systematically place charges on support columns but just throw in a whole bunch of gas and light a match.

There have been some horrrrribly stupid debates here in the down-time though. That's always what tends to push me closer to the door.

Nothing I said actually was counter to Baysplosions being good.

the point was some thought the Hospital explosion sucked because it wasn't a Baysplosion.

Now would you suggest that if it's not a Baysplosion, it's not good?

God, things like this make me wonder - why so serious?..

the costume won't be considered anything more than mediocre. Just like the TDK suit.

I know. That was me talking with you, not at you. I figured we were talking about those... others.

No. I've seen plenty of good on-screen explosions that had nothing to do with him and his hair.
