The smoke grenade was Joker's devilish humor.

But the reason he was on the ground lying there helpless was because Joker shot him with a glock, dude.

Pretty sure when I read the script it says he was clipped in the shoulder and it was not a fatal wound.

But we're not talking about the script. I'm just saying all we are shown in the movie is he gets popped with a few shots from a glock ...

lol okay. I mean if it was in the script that he was clipped, therefore the reason he was still alive and able to have his talk with The Joker, and if you're saying that were not talking about the script and things may changed because of what we were shown, why wouldn't they have shown him dead?

I've been looking at the schedule for 2012, and I've come to the conclusion that it's highly, highly unlikely TDKR will have the theater life that TDK did. Mainly because the only real film anyone remembered from TDK coming out to the end of the year was Twilight, which is the lowest grossing of that franchise so far. ASM might slow it down, but it'll have been out for two weeks, so it's less likely to slow it down. But not only will this year's Twilight make around 500-600, if the last few are anything to go by, TDKR also has Bourne, Expendables, James Bond, and Hobbit to deal with. Though I doubt any but maybe Hobbit will rival it in gross, it'll sure as hell slow it down. Half the reason TDK lasted so long was because it was A: Really good and B: Had almost zero real competition for months at a time. Not to mention, it was basically dragged on it's feet to the billion dollars, and even then it still had less competition.

I think that Bane, Tate and maybe Gordon will find put Bruces identity but I dont think all of gotham will know, but thats just me.

The reason why I think bruce's identity will be revealed;

Bane clearly sets the poor/rich divide off, when he outs Harvey Dent as the corruptible killer that he is. He tells those who struggle to live in gotham to take back their city from the rich and wealthy who drink and party their city dry, while the others work backbreaking thankless jobs for a measly life.

That was a major point in Batman Begins and a major point in the death of Bruce's parents. Joe chill wasn't a hired gun, nor was he a thug, he was a man on the edge of desperation (or so we are meant to believe) BB showed us a clear divide between the people that abuse the city for it's wealth (Falcone, the judge, corrupt cops) and those that are forced to live in poverty because of them (the narrows). I think this film will take it further by showing the poor and helpless actually helping themselves and fighting back against the rich, the politicans, the government. A city tearing itself apart just like how Ra's wanted, and bane manages to set this off by showing how the best of them, the one government official that seemed like he cared, that truly sacrified himself to make the city better...was nothing more than another corrupt official. That is enough to cause a scene like the one we saw in the trailer where people violently ransack some poor guys posh apartment.

In the end I believe Bruce's mansion will get raided, seeing as he is in their eyes "the worse of the worse" a rich playboy who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, who lives in excess while the good people of gotham starve.

Therefore i can imagine the one person who can finally unite the two classes, who can finally inspire the city to do good is Bruce Wayne. Harvey Dent was supposed to be that guy, the Harvey Dent Act seems like a band aid, clean streets but unhappy people...which eventually leads to crime, and then we are back to square one. Bruce Wayne is the very epitome of gothams aristocracy....to reveal that he was all along doing the most thankless selfless job in Gotham city, is a shining example of what the people of gotham needed.

The hero it deserved, but not one it needs right now....maybe TDKR will finally show a time when he is finally needed and eventually Bruce can be the hero his father always was, not as just as Batman, but as Bruce wayne as well.

Just a thought. Stolen and built upon from better people here.

Bane takes out Wayne while he's in plain clothes...maybe.
Or maybe that scene from the teaser is Bane approaching to break bats in the middle of the prison complex.

Wayne works to get his strength back while he's behind bars(see push ups).

I'm starting to look forward to this.

The Expendables? Really?

I don't think nuBourne will make much more than The Bourne Supremacy. Who knows about Skyfall, but it is coming out on november. TDKR will have made most of it's money by that point, and besides Bond movies tend to make most of their money through the worldwide market. And The Hobbit is coming out on December. We will have the TDKR DVD/BD by that point :o

I never said it wouldn't make money, I said it wouldn't have TDK's theater life. It'll make profit for sure.

Kind of strange that the dent memorial is held at wayne manor. i guess it's like a yearly thing.

I think it will make much more money than you think it will definitely top 3 of the year (only real legit competition is Hobbit and maybe avengers)...but you are right in thinking the hill is much much steeper, in fact next year is probably the heaviest and strongest summer line up I've seen in a long time.

Wayne did give Dent his backing and hosted a party for him at his penthouse. It was a nice, surprisingly quaint little get-together... Before the Joker and that Batman guy showed up!

Bruce also probably wants to personally propagate the whole "Dent is a Hero" thing in order to keep the Dent Act (whatever it is) intact. Can't do that any better than holding a memorial for the guy every year.

If it was coming out in May or something like that, I'd agree with you. But stuff like The Expendables is not gonna take much away from TDKR. This film's biggest drawback will be itself. TDK was kind of a magical thing. We'll see if Nolan can replicate that.

I'm just saying, you'd think they'd try to downplay it a bit more... instead of being all 'harvey was THE BEST' and cramming it down everyone's throat every single year.
Dedicate the guy a toast or some ****, erect a statue. but we don't need a yearly festival, and page long speeches to remind us of what a great guy he was.

Happy DENT day

We don't know if it's a yearly festival. That's just speculation.

But it makes sense for Wayne to offer his elaborate home for some festivities.

If the film takes place 8 years later, why else would they hold it if it wasn't like an annual get together?

If you can't imagine a single case where they get together 8 years later other than a yearly festival, then I can't help you.

Sure, they could all get together. But why have the place decorated like a Dent memorial, if its not exactly that.
why hold one just randomly 8 years later? was Bruce just looking at the calendar and was just like, "Oh look, coming up on the big 8, better hold another memorial and remind everyone of the BIG ****ING LIE we're involved in."
Legitimate questions, not an excuse for you to be a dick.
You know, you could join the speculation and maybe try to theorize why else they're holding the event, instead of undermining my imagination.

Maybe it's a yearly charity event in the name/honor of Dent...like...the Ronald MacDonald house or what have you. Maybe it's a charity thing put together by Wayne as his way of helping the needy people of Gotham, in place of being the retired Batman...and every year, there's a big charity ball or something.

Seems logical.
I'm not sure why I didn't consider this before, I guess my imagination isn't quite up to par. :o
