Yeah I don't think that Alfred will abandon Bruce. This is the time that Bruce needs him the most. I think if anything Alfred just feels guilty that he alowed Bruce to live his life like this.
what if Alfred goes away before Bane?

remember he was Batman for the 8 years(after TDK) and Gotham is cleaned up. so maybe Alfred is sad that Bruce is obssesed with batman and he can not take it anymore.Alfred is seeing that he doesnt need to be batman anymore yet bruce can not stop. maybe after Alfred leaves him Bruce starts thinking about himself and that he spend 10 years on being batman. and remember that Alfred is a very old man.it has to be a pain to watch for 10 years your ''son'' fighting crime and coming home with broken bones and scars.

i think it could work.

I could see Alfred walking away from Bruce's mad crusade after Bane. Definitely. That's part of his story. Up to the point that Bane breaks Bruce he has seemed invincible. To Bruce, to Alfred. When Bane breaks him it devastates Alfred as much or more than Bruce. When Bruce finally decides he has to become the Bat again, Alfred refuses to aid and abet him in his folly. He refuses to be party to what, to him, is Bruce's certain doom. He won't assist Bruce in making his deathwish come true. On top of Bane destroying Batman, Alfred has gradually realized that Batman is neverending. It is not a temporary hobby for Bruce, it is his career, it is who Bruce truly is... and that has weighed on him all this time. Bane breaking Bruce is both horrific and a relief.

i just love that in the third and final movie we have Alfred crying for Bruce. its a superhero movie and we all love what happens in those movies. but if you think how hard it has to be for Alfred . 10 years

The scene with Bruce on the balcony puzzles me a bit. Is he hiding? Why?

And most of all why would he offer a Dent memorial if he doesn't want to appear or whatever?

after again watching the trailer i have now a clear theory.

Bane defeats Bruce in the sewer. after the kicks or punches him in the face the mask breaks and he is unconscious.after that his henchman take Bruce to the underground prison. in the prison on the ground Bruce wakes up and Bane is standing next to him. he explains to him everything and leaves him there. now i dont knwo if his back is broken.
it looks like that the only way out is to climb through the tunnel. we see that Bane and his henchman go down with the help of wires. so this is the only way out and in.

i think after days bruce hears some chanting. he asks the old man what it means and he explains to him that it means rise. they are chanting when someone try's to escape the prison by climbing out. noone ever got out. so Bruce starts training. its in a way similar to the dragonball training. Goku trained to escape heaven. by this trainig made him strong enough for the big villain. so it will be similar here. he needs to traing his body to come out. but this training will at the same time be important to defeat Bane. what muscle is important for climbing? the back muscle .

not matter if i am right or wrong.........its important for Bruce to get out by himself. Selina can not and should not help him.

To me, that shot highlighted the depression and loneliness that Wayne is going through. It said to me that he is struggling to keep up with the playboy lifestyle and is becoming reclusive.

Anybody else get an Occupy Wallstreet vibe from Selina's chat with Bruce?

Why? He can't do everything alone sometimes even Batman needs help and after two films of him pushing people away I think this will be the one where he finally accepts some.

That being said I think Selina finds him there but won't let him out. I can see her still miffed that her favorite studly superhero is some rich jackass and so she comes there to see it to believe it.
when its true she's conflicted, on one hand she knows Batman is a good man but, Wayne has been living a life of frivolity.

So she offers help in a very passive way.

"If I could get in...YOU could get out" and then leaves.

She gives him motivation, she retains her independent smarts and cunning without having to directly give Batman a hand.

But Batman getting some help is not inherently bad

Yeah it's Bruce, cane and all.

Gotcha gotcha, the fanboy in me is hoping for a Rā's comeback. Neeson did after all have the cane/sword in the final act in BB. That's where I started putting 2 and 2 together and got 5 :o

A year ago all sort of speculation began about TDKR, villains and stuff. Being one big Black Mask fan, I would always remember the rumours.
Someone one didn't even get picked up. It's on the Perez Hilton site (yes, cheeky and stuff). He posted a picture of a men in a black mask jumping out of a window.

Being a lurker for months on this board, and seeing the first teaser trailer, I never saw someone who connected the dots.
Personally I don't believe Black Mask would be in this movie, however I do think it's Bruce Wayne we are seeing.
Everyone is arguing about how Bruce and Gordon are talking in the teaser trailer (you know, in the hospital), and personally I think Bruce has covered his face in a black mask to hide his identity. My guess is he needs to hide or run for "something" and what we are seeing above is Bruce (hidden) jumping out of a hospital room.

I know it might be a longshot, but just wanted to share this with you.

i think the cane is somewhat of an Homage to Ra's though. I said a couple of weeks ago I think at some point Bruce will see himself in a mirror and realize how much he looks like Ra's al ghul and then realize how much he IS Ra's al Ghul and then he'll have to make a choice to who he's going to be.

Grey hair at the temples and a cane...not too unlike al Ghul, it would be a striking image

Yeah, we figured out this was Bruce by identifying the tie he has on to a tie he has on later.

then the teaser confirmed it. We haven't really talked about it too much since the teaser. But good catch!

I wonder if that "Rouges gallery cameos" rumor has any truth to it. Seeing that break out scene in the trailer was interesting.

Yeah; I'm with those who believe that Bruce has been active as Batman throughout the 8 year gap, since interviews have said that Bruce is worn and torn from his years of being batman, and if he had given up the cowl and cape before the events of TDKR, that means that he was only batman for 1 year, and he looked physically fine at the end of TDK, aside from having crashed down to the ground.lol

agreed

Very interesting point.

Ah I didn't see that anywhere, so sorry if this was repetitive.
I was just thinking, if Bane would break into the hospital, and Bruce is escaping from that window, and gets pushed or something, he breaks his back because of Bane. :awesome: Nolan-realistic-breaking-Batmans-back

In the trailer it looks like Bruce Jumps out of the window and has some type of harness on and we see images of Bruce with the same suit on seemingly later at night walking again.

It looks pretty clear that Bane defeats Bruce (breaks the mask). Imprisons him for three months (the "Gotham is ashes" speech). Bruce then trains (pushups in teaser) and escapes (climbing in teaser).

So; perhaps he isn't wearing a mask to hide himself from the cops, but Bane. And Blake is protecting Bruce, at the request of Gordon.

i dont have a problem if she helps him in the chase. i dont have a problem if she helps him at night fighting criminals.but there is only one way out of the well in TDKR. and Bruce needs to come out without anyone's help. it should IMO be an important part of his arc and character development.

i dont have a problem with help in general. i have a problem when the help is used. for example i like how Gordon help's Batman in the BB finale with the tumbler.he is helping rescuing the city. Bruce in prison in TDKR is personal. only he should do it.

I want this to happen.

The shot in the teaser with just one guy climbing out of the tunnel could be Bruce.

If anything, Bruce climbing out represents him overcoming both the physical and the mental.

One thing that is puzzling to me is the tunnel sequence. The teaser showed Bane crawling out of the tunnel. The new Trailer shows men repelling down into the tunnel then later we see bane falling into the tunnel attached to a rope on a pulley. I'm truly puzzled trying to figure this out.

It seems that TDKR will be 2 hours and 30 minutes long. This is not confirmed by an official source, but the website of a cinema near me lists:
Expected: 25 juli 2012
Duration: 2:30:00 hours

Though they may be guessing, since the film is still in post-production.

we dont know if its Bane. it could be a falshback when Bane was climbing out. now that we knwo that Bruce is in an underground prison there is a chance that Bruce is climbing out.

imagine that in the movie Zimmer and Nolan introdcue the chant music for Bane.

then in hte middle of the movie when Bruce is climbing out every man starts chanting for Bruce. e............p.............i..........c :wow:

does anyone think that the device Batman has is a nod to Batman Begins with the microwave emitter? maybe Fox shrinks it to a hand held device that dissipates Bane's serum?
