The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion & Speculation Thread

The chatter usually begins with news, even though it goes off on many different tangents. So, when and where news hits - that's where the discussion will usually pick up.

Maybe there's not much activity because there is a lack of news?

Sometimes being anxious makes it appear as if things aren't moving. That's not a bad thing but just a lesson in practicing patience.

True, we are bound to have our slow days. Maybe this is actually a good thing for me, because I could certainly benefit from practicing patience. :funny:

Oh snap, what happen to The Dark Knight Rises Info Hunters Thread??

This thread is basically for everything that got the Info Hunters thread locked in the first place, so I'm also surprised it hasn't been moving faster. I guess people don't know what it's actually for, but really, its for pretty much any discussion.
Maybe if I changed the title of this thread to DO NOT TALK ABOUT BATMAN HERE it would get more posts.

This whole football player casting has me a little uhhhhh worried..

Care to elaborate as to why?

I don't mind that you are, I'm just curious.

I dont know. Just seems a little strange in general don't you think? Seems a little odd, and campy to be in a Nolan Batman film. Having football involved came from total left field. I just hope it isn't headed toward this: Bane is originally a football player..

It wont be a huge focus. Probably there is going to be some sort of attack on the stadium, as they are planning on putting explosives in one. They were originally going to blow one up, but that fell through. I'm sure they will just be in the background during the attack, most likely done by Bane in his attempt to break Gotham apart.

Maybe it's as simple as there being a football game going on while some event happens. Either a scene itself revolving around a game, or just happening nearby.
It doesn't need to focus much on the football, it's just there. That's what i'm thinking anyway.

What the hell are you talking about? NFL is easily America's national sport. The SuperBowl is consistently one of the most watched events on a yearly basis. What can possibly be campy about having football players in a movie?

A football game taking place in a Batuniverse? Eh, it sounds a bit unusual to me. I really don't know what to think of this.

What if... Bruce and Selina/Miranda are watching the game (maybe Bruce even owns the team) and Bane and/or the prisoners/thugs crashes the game and causes a riot? What will Bruce do since he can't change to Batman and he can't publicly fight the people off? Maybe something like that...

The only thing that I might find cheesy with a football scene is if there is a riot and the football players help out by fighting the prisoners/thugs. :p

The Batman Forever circus scene immediately came to mind.

Hmm, interesting.

I'm ambivalent to it simply because I hate football. It'll probably be a "oh look there's a football game going on HOLY CRAP Bane just blew a building up!"

Something to what QueenChaos said actually. Just a bit of background noise/movement.

So sports can't happen in a Batman film? That makes no sense. Gotham is just a city, like any other city, with people doing everyday things. The football isn't going to be a main focus in the movie. Something is going to be happening at the stadium during a football game, that's it. Batman isn't going to be joining in on the game or anything.

True. :hehe: For some reason a play on that scene is what I always think of with this football scene. That's why Nolan is the writer/director and I'm just a viewer. :p

I love the idea of a sporting event taking place in which an attack occurs (rumored). It works as a metaphor for Bane's competitive/"Sport" nature.
